- Book your a2a visa change with White Sky Travel
For travellers from Barbados, a a2a visa change means leaving the UAE on a short flight and coming back the same day with a brand new 60 day tourist visa. Our team books the flight, lodges the visa application at the right moment and guides you on WhatsApp through every stage of the day.
In short: Barbados passport holders pay AED 1,550 for a a2a visa change, which covers the return flight from Dubai, the 60 day single entry visa and our coordination, with most travellers back in Dubai within six to twelve hours.
Looking to extend your stay in the UAE?
Let White Sky Travel help you process an airport visa change from a tourist visa, cancelled residence visa, or current visa on-arrival.
What is a a2a visa change?
A a2a visa change is an exit and re entry. Immigration only links a new visa to a Barbados passport once the holder has left the UAE, which is why the flight is essential. Air travel is the most efficient way to complete the exit. The typical route runs from Dubai International Terminal 2 to Muscat, Kuwait or Doha, with a return the same day.
The land alternative is the visa change by bus to Oman, which takes longer and involves a night near the border. Flying is the more expensive choice, but it is faster and far more comfortable for Barbados families, older passengers and busy professionals.
Who from Barbados needs a a2a visa change?
Most 30 day and 60 day UAE visit visas can now be extended from inside the country, so a a2a visa change is not always necessary. These are the situations where Barbados travellers should book one:
- All your extensions are used up. The UAE allows a 30 day visa to be extended three times and a 60 day visa twice, and total stay cannot go beyond 120 days.
- You are on a cancelled residence visa and want to stay on as a visitor while you find a new job. A a2a visa change gives you a 60 day tourist visa.
- Your visa has already expired. Extensions must be filed before expiry, so once the date has passed the practical solution is to settle the fine and exit through a a2a visa change.
- You hold a permit that is not extendable from inside the UAE. Send us a photo of your visa on WhatsApp and we will advise the correct route for a Barbados passport.
Overstay fines and why you should book early
UAE authorities charge AED 50 for every day a visit visa remains expired, and the same flat rate applies across all visa types and emirates. There is no grace period on tourist and visit visas, so the fine starts the day after expiry. Anyone who overstays by more than 30 days also needs an exit permit, typically AED 250 to 300, before they can leave. The price does not change with urgency, which is why we suggest starting the process with at least 10 to 15 days remaining.

How much does a a2a visa change cost?
The package for Barbados passport holders is straightforward: AED 1,550 for a 60 day single entry visa and the return flight on flydubai. You pay the same figure for a tourist to tourist change and for a residence cancellation conversion. It covers the airline ticket, the visa fee and our coordination before, during and after the flight.
- Visa type: 60 days, single entry
- Flight: flydubai return ticket from Dubai Terminal 2 to Muscat, Kuwait City or Doha
- Delivery: approved visa PDF on WhatsApp, usually before your return flight
- Assistance: WhatsApp support throughout, including on the day of travel
- Fee: AED 1,550 per adult traveller
There is no 30 day version of our a2a visa change. The 30 day visa costs almost as much and delivers half the stay, so the 60 day package is the sensible option. Some nationalities carry an AED 100 surcharge for extended processing; we confirm on WhatsApp whether this applies to Barbados citizens. Overstay fines, if any, are paid by the traveller at the immigration desk before departure and are not part of the package.
Some Barbados applicants may need to place a refundable security deposit. It is independent of the visa price, is returned after you exit the country, and we state the amount clearly on WhatsApp first.
Payment plans for UAE residents
Residents of the UAE who book on behalf of Barbados visitors can use Tabby for up to 12 months, Tamara with extendable repayment, or a UAE credit card with 3, 6, 9 or 12 month terms set by the card issuer. Applicants who are not UAE residents pay through a secure online link.
Paperwork for a a2a visa change
Send these on WhatsApp and we can usually confirm eligibility within the hour:
- Front page and back cover of the passport. Applications are most frequently sent back because the back cover was left out.
- Six months minimum validity from your flight date, two blank pages, and a passport in clean condition.
- A recent colour photograph, white background, passport dimensions, no glasses.
- Your current visa copy, either the tourist visa you hold or the residence cancellation paper.
Bank statement requirements depend on nationality. Should Barbados be one of the passports that needs one, a relative in the UAE can submit their own statement for you. UAE immigration may also ask arriving travellers to show proof of funds on entry, so carry a card or cash that demonstrates you can support your stay. One more step: fill in the guarantee form at applyvisa.app a few days before you fly.
What happens on the day
Preparation
We lock in the flight, forward the ticket on WhatsApp and check that any outstanding fines have been paid online. Travellers whose visa is still valid pay nothing at immigration. Choose a Monday to Thursday departure. Friday flights carry a risk of weekend delays, since Saturday and Sunday are non working days for government offices.
Departure from Dubai
Arrive at Dubai International Terminal 2 around five hours before departure, check in at the flydubai counter and collect both boarding passes. Take clear photos of the two passes and send them to your consultant on WhatsApp. Once immigration records your exit, your old visa closes and we file the new application immediately.
While you wait abroad
The flight takes around one hour. You stay in the international transit zone, so no visa for Oman, Kuwait or Qatar is required. Typically the visa is granted in a few hours and we forward the PDF while you are still at the transit airport. Should a security check be triggered, expect 24 to 48 hours. The airline lets you wait airside and we stay on WhatsApp until the visa is issued.
Returning to Dubai
If we have already sent the PDF, go straight to the eGate at Terminal 2. Should the visa still be pending on landing, avoid the eGate, use the manual counters and wait in the Terminal 2 holding area until we confirm. Validity runs for 60 days from your arrival.
A2A versus extension versus bus
Where an extension is still possible, take it: the in country option costs AED 1,200 for 30 days and requires no flight. Once extension is off the table, the a2a visa change is the better option, giving 60 days for AED 1,550. The Dubai to Oman bus is the budget option, starting from AED 1,000 for cancelled residents and AED 1,400 to 1,500 for visit visa holders, but it takes one to two days with an overnight stay. For the majority of travellers from Barbados, the a2a visa change is the more comfortable and predictable route.

What can go wrong and how to avoid it
- Late bookings. Demand spikes at Eid, in December and in January, so start early.
- Short passport validity. Applications on passports with under six months remaining are refused.
- Name mismatch. The name on the ticket must match the Barbados passport exactly, including middle names.
- Unpaid fines. Immigration will not let you board with outstanding overstay fines, so check and pay through the GDRFA or ICP app before you reach the airport.
- Assuming a grace period. There is none, so a visa expiring on the 10th must be extended or exited by the 10th.
- Hidden immigration records. Let us know about earlier problems so we can assess the risk honestly before booking.
Questions Barbados travellers ask us
How long will I be away from Dubai?
Six to twelve hours is normal. Security checks occasionally push it to 24 to 48 hours, and you can wait at the airport throughout.
Can I do this more than once?
The rules set no maximum, but each new visa is a fresh decision by immigration, and consecutive changes are looked at more carefully.
Is a a2a visa change possible for cancelled residents?
Yes. This is the most common case we handle. Your employer cancels the residency, you receive the cancellation paper, and we convert you to a 60 day tourist visa at the same AED 1,550 rate.
Where does the flight go?
Muscat, Kuwait City or Doha, depending on flydubai availability on your chosen date. All are under two hours from Dubai and support a same day return.
Do Barbados passport holders need an Oman visa for this?
Not for a same day return. You do not enter Oman, Kuwait or Qatar; you stay in transit.
Is there a family option?
Yes. Each child needs their own ticket and visa. Send us the family’s passports on WhatsApp and we will quote for the group.
Is a refund possible if immigration refuses?
Rejection is uncommon. Should it happen, you would need to fly on to your home country or another destination, and the visa fee is not refundable as it is a government charge. We flag risks before booking so that this does not come as a surprise.
Are visa changes by air allowed?
Yes, completely. It follows standard immigration procedure, and a licensed agency such as ours submits the application through the proper system.
