For travellers from Greece, a a2a visa change means leaving the UAE on a short flight and coming back the same day with a brand new 60 day tourist visa. At White Sky Travel we book the return flight, file the new visa as soon as your exit stamp is recorded, and keep in touch on WhatsApp from check in to arrival.
The essentials for Greece passport holders: AED 1,550 all in, a same day flydubai rotation from Dubai Terminal 2, and a 60 day single entry visa issued while you wait at the transit airport.
Looking to extend your stay in the UAE?
Let White Sky Travel help you process an airport visa change from a tourist visa, cancelled residence visa, or current visa on-arrival.
What is a a2a visa change?
At its core, a a2a visa change is a short trip out of the country so that a new visa can be issued. The rule is that the applicant, in this case a Greece passport holder, must be abroad when the new visa is processed. Flying is the fastest way to satisfy that rule. The usual routing from Dubai is to Muscat, Kuwait City or Doha, and most travellers are back in the arrivals hall at Terminal 2 within six to twelve hours of departure.
There is also a bus option to Oman, but it takes a full day or more and includes an overnight stay. A a2a visa change costs more than the bus, yet it saves a day and suits families, older travellers and anyone with work or school commitments in Dubai.
Is a a2a visa change the right option for you?
Most 30 day and 60 day UAE visit visas can now be extended from inside the country, so a a2a visa change is not always necessary. You will need a a2a visa change on a Greece passport if any of the following applies:
- You have reached the 120 day ceiling after extending a 30 day visa three times or a 60 day visa twice.
- You are on a cancelled residence visa and want to stay on as a visitor while you find a new job. A a2a visa change gives you a 60 day tourist visa.
- Your visa expired before you applied for an extension. In that case you pay the overstay fine and exit on a a2a visa change.
- Your visa category is not eligible for extension. We check this for Greece citizens on WhatsApp before you spend anything.
Do not wait until the last day
Every day past expiry costs AED 50 in fines, whichever emirate issued the visa and whichever visa type you hold. Tourist and visit visas carry no grace period, which means fines begin immediately after the expiry date. Overstays beyond 30 days also require an exit permit, usually AED 250 to 300, on top of the daily fine. Booking early costs nothing extra, so we advise Greece travellers to message us with 10 to 15 days left on the current visa.

How much does a a2a visa change cost?
At White Sky Travel a a2a visa change costs AED 1,550 and includes the flydubai return ticket and a 60 day single entry tourist visa. The price is the same whether you are changing from a tourist visa or converting a cancelled residence visa. That figure pays for the flydubai ticket, the visa itself and our coordination on travel day.
- New UAE tourist visa: 60 days, single entry
- Airline: flydubai, departing and returning at Dubai Terminal 2
- How you get it: a PDF copy on WhatsApp while you wait at the transit airport
- Support: our consultants on WhatsApp from booking until you clear immigration
- Cost: AED 1,550 for each adult passenger
We only sell the 60 day a2a visa change, since a 30 day visa would cost nearly as much for half the validity. Some nationalities carry an AED 100 surcharge for extended processing; we confirm on WhatsApp whether this applies to Greece citizens. If you have overstayed, the fine is paid directly to immigration and is not included in the AED 1,550.
For a limited set of nationalities a refundable deposit is requested. It sits apart from the AED 1,550, comes back to you after your final exit, and we confirm whether it applies to Greece citizens before booking.
Payment plans for UAE residents
UAE residents booking a a2a visa change for a family member or friend from Greece can spread the AED 1,550 using Tabby with up to 12 months, Tamara with extendable terms, or a UAE credit card with 3, 6, 9 or 12 month plans depending on the issuing bank. All other applicants receive a secure online payment link.
a2a visa change documents for Greece passport holders
Message us these items on WhatsApp and we will normally confirm your eligibility within an hour:
- Your passport data page plus a photo of the back cover. We ask for both because the back cover is the item most often forgotten.
- Passport validity of at least six months from the planned travel date, with at least two blank pages and no damage.
- A recent colour photograph, white background, passport dimensions, no glasses.
- Your current visa copy, either the tourist visa you hold or the residence cancellation paper.
Bank statement requirements depend on nationality. Should Greece be one of the passports that needs one, a relative in the UAE can submit their own statement for you. Please also carry a card or some cash on the return flight, since immigration can ask arriving visitors to show proof of funds. We also ask you to complete the short guarantee form at applyvisa.app before travel day.
The a2a visa change process from start to finish
Preparation
We confirm your flydubai flight, share the ticket and remind you to settle any overstay fine through the GDRFA or ICP app. Travellers whose visa is still valid pay nothing at immigration. We always advise Greece travellers to fly Monday to Thursday, because a Friday departure that hits a delay can mean waiting through the Saturday and Sunday weekend.
Leaving the UAE
Reach Terminal 2 at Dubai International about five hours early, check in with flydubai and ask for the outbound and return boarding passes together. Photograph both passes and send them to us on WhatsApp. Immigration then stamps you out, which formally ends your current visa, and the moment your exit registers we submit your new visa application.
At the transit airport
The hop to Muscat, Kuwait or Doha takes close to an hour. Because you do not leave the airport, Greece passport holders need no visa for the transit country. Typically the visa is granted in a few hours and we forward the PDF while you are still at the transit airport. If your application is referred for a security check, approval can take 24 to 48 hours. Both flydubai and Air Arabia allow passengers to wait at the airport until the visa is approved, and we stay in contact throughout.
Arrival at Terminal 2
Once you have the PDF from us, you can use the eGate at Terminal 2 for a quick entry. Should the visa still be pending on landing, avoid the eGate, use the manual counters and wait in the Terminal 2 holding area until we confirm. Validity runs for 60 days from your arrival.
Choosing between a a2a visa change, extension and the Oman bus
Where an extension is still possible, take it: the in country option costs AED 1,200 for 30 days and requires no flight. A a2a visa change becomes the right choice the moment extension is no longer possible, and it delivers 60 days rather than 30 for AED 1,550. The bus to Oman costs less, from AED 1,000 for residence cancellation and AED 1,400 to 1,500 for visit visa holders, but it takes a day or two and includes a night away. On balance, Greece citizens usually prefer the a2a visa change for its speed and comfort.

What can go wrong and how to avoid it
- Waiting until the final days. Peak periods such as Eid, December and January fill flights quickly.
- Passport validity under six months. Renew before you travel, as immigration will not issue a visa against a short validity passport.
- Spelling differences. Ticket and passport names must be identical, middle names included.
- Outstanding fines. Clear them in the GDRFA or ICP app before travel, or you will be stopped at immigration.
- Believing there is a buffer. There is not, and fines start the day after expiry.
- Undisclosed history. Prior overstays, bans or uncancelled visas can lead to refusal, so share them with us upfront.
Greece passport a2a visa change FAQ
What is the total time from departure to return?
Typically six to twelve hours from departure to re entry. Some applications need 24 to 48 hours if immigration orders a security check, and the airline allows you to wait at the airport in that case.
How often can I repeat a a2a visa change?
You may repeat it, but approval is never automatic and repeated changes are scrutinised. One or two is typical.
Is a a2a visa change possible for cancelled residents?
Yes. This is the most common case we handle. Your employer cancels the residency, you receive the cancellation paper, and we convert you to a 60 day tourist visa at the same AED 1,550 rate.
Which country will I transit through?
Muscat is the most common, with Kuwait and Doha as alternatives, all within two hours of Dubai.
Is a transit visa required?
No visa is required because you never clear immigration in the transit country.
Can I bring my family?
Yes. Children require individual tickets and visas, and we prepare a single quote for the whole family.
What happens on rejection?
Rejection is uncommon. Should it happen, you would need to fly on to your home country or another destination, and the visa fee is not refundable as it is a government charge. We flag risks before booking so that this does not come as a surprise.
Are visa changes by air allowed?
Yes. You leave on the current visa and return on a new one granted by UAE immigration. Using a licensed agency keeps the application within official channels.
