a2a visa change for Italy passport holders

When a visitor from Italy has run out of extension options, a a2a visa change is the practical answer: a short flight out, a new visa issued while you wait, and a return within hours. At White Sky Travel we book the return flight, file the new visa as soon as your exit stamp is recorded, and keep in touch on WhatsApp from check in to arrival.

In short: Italy passport holders pay AED 1,550 for a a2a visa change, which covers the return flight from Dubai, the 60 day single entry visa and our coordination, with most travellers back in Dubai within six to twelve hours.

Looking to extend your stay in the UAE?

Let White Sky Travel help you process an airport visa change from a tourist visa, cancelled residence visa, or current visa on-arrival.

How a a2a visa change works

A a2a visa change is simply a controlled exit followed by a fresh entry. Immigration only links a new visa to a Italy passport once the holder has left the UAE, which is why the flight is essential. A short flight is the quickest way to meet that condition. Most Italy travellers fly from Dubai Terminal 2 to Muscat, Kuwait City or Doha and are back in Dubai the same day.

The land alternative is the visa change by bus to Oman, which takes longer and involves a night near the border. A a2a visa change costs more than the bus, yet it saves a day and suits families, older travellers and anyone with work or school commitments in Dubai.

When Italy passport holders need a a2a visa change

A a2a visa change is a fallback, because the UAE allows visit visa extension without exit in many cases. You will need a a2a visa change on a Italy passport if any of the following applies:

  • Your extensions are exhausted: three for a 30 day visa, two for a 60 day visa, with 120 days as the overall limit.
  • You are on a cancelled residence visa and want to stay on as a visitor while you find a new job. A a2a visa change gives you a 60 day tourist visa.
  • You missed the extension deadline. With fines already running, a a2a visa change is the fastest way to regularise your status.
  • Your visa category is not eligible for extension. We check this for Italy citizens on WhatsApp before you spend anything.

Overstay fines and why you should book early

An expired visa attracts a fine of AED 50 per day, and that figure is the same for every visa category and every emirate. There is no grace period on tourist and visit visas, so the fine starts the day after expiry. After 30 days of overstay, an exit permit of roughly AED 250 to 300 becomes necessary as well. Because the fee is the same whenever you book, the smart move is to reach out while 10 to 15 days remain on your visa.

a2a visa change price for Italy passport holders

At White Sky Travel a a2a visa change costs AED 1,550 and includes the flydubai return ticket and a 60 day single entry tourist visa. Tourist visa holders and cancelled residents pay an identical amount. Included are the ticket, the visa processing and our WhatsApp guidance from booking to entry.

  • Visa type: 60 days, single entry
  • Ticket: flydubai return from Dubai International Terminal 2 to a nearby GCC airport
  • How you get it: a PDF copy on WhatsApp while you wait at the transit airport
  • Support: our consultants on WhatsApp from booking until you clear immigration
  • Rate: AED 1,550 per person

There is no 30 day version of our a2a visa change. The 30 day visa costs almost as much and delivers half the stay, so the 60 day package is the sensible option. A few nationalities pay an additional AED 100 for longer processing. We check the position for Italy passports and tell you upfront. Fines for overstaying are cleared by the passenger at the airport and sit outside the package price.

Some Italy applicants may need to place a refundable security deposit. It is independent of the visa price, is returned after you exit the country, and we state the amount clearly on WhatsApp first.

Spread the cost

For UAE residents sponsoring a Italy family member or friend, the AED 1,550 can be split with Tabby up to 12 months, Tamara on extendable terms, or a UAE credit card over 3, 6, 9 or 12 months according to the bank. Applicants who are not UAE residents pay through a secure online link.

What Italy citizens need to send us

Share these four items on WhatsApp and we will confirm whether we can proceed, typically within the hour:

  1. Passport scan showing the front page and the back cover. A missing back cover is the most common reason an application is returned, so please include both.
  2. Passport validity of at least six months from the planned travel date, with at least two blank pages and no damage.
  3. One colour passport photo on a plain white background, no more than six months old.
  4. Your current visa copy, either the tourist visa you hold or the residence cancellation paper.

Some nationalities may be asked for a six month bank statement, and where that applies to a Italy passport a UAE based family member’s statement can be submitted on your behalf. Bear in mind that immigration officers sometimes ask arriving passengers to show they can fund their stay, so keep a card or cash accessible. We also ask you to complete the short guarantee form at applyvisa.app before travel day.

What happens on the day

The day before you fly

We lock in the flight, forward the ticket on WhatsApp and check that any outstanding fines have been paid online. If you are within your visa validity, the airport stage costs nothing extra. Book for Monday to Thursday if you can, as a Friday delay can stretch over the weekend.

At the airport

Get to Terminal 2 five hours ahead, complete flydubai check in and take both boarding passes. WhatsApp us photos of both boarding passes before you go through immigration. Immigration then stamps you out, which formally ends your current visa, and the moment your exit registers we submit your new visa application.

The waiting period

You will be in the air for about an hour. You remain in the transit area and do not need to clear immigration in Oman, Kuwait or Qatar for a same day return. Typically the visa is granted in a few hours and we forward the PDF while you are still at the transit airport. If your application is referred for a security check, approval can take 24 to 48 hours. Both flydubai and Air Arabia allow passengers to wait at the airport until the visa is approved, and we stay in contact throughout.

Back in the UAE

If we have already sent the PDF, go straight to the eGate at Terminal 2. Without the PDF in hand, use a manual immigration counter rather than the eGate and remain in the designated area. The new 60 day visa starts counting from the day you re enter.

Choosing between a a2a visa change, extension and the Oman bus

An in country extension at AED 1,200 for 30 days is the simplest route if you are still eligible. A a2a visa change steps in when extension ends, and it gives 60 days instead of 30. The Dubai to Oman bus is the budget option, starting from AED 1,000 for cancelled residents and AED 1,400 to 1,500 for visit visa holders, but it takes one to two days with an overnight stay. On balance, Italy citizens usually prefer the a2a visa change for its speed and comfort.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Late bookings. Demand spikes at Eid, in December and in January, so start early.
  • Less than six months on the passport. Immigration will not approve a visa in that case, so renew first.
  • Spelling differences. Ticket and passport names must be identical, middle names included.
  • Outstanding fines. Clear them in the GDRFA or ICP app before travel, or you will be stopped at immigration.
  • Assuming a grace period. There is none, so a visa expiring on the 10th must be extended or exited by the 10th.
  • Previous immigration issues. Old bans, unresolved cases or improperly cancelled visas can affect approval, so tell us about them before you pay.

Italy passport a2a visa change FAQ

What is the total time from departure to return?

Plan for six to twelve hours. In rare cases a security review adds 24 to 48 hours, and both flydubai and Air Arabia let you stay airside until it clears.

Is there a limit on repeat visa changes?

There is no fixed limit, but every application is assessed on its own and repeated back to back changes attract closer scrutiny. Most of our clients do one or two before moving to a residence visa or leaving the UAE.

Can I do a a2a visa change on a cancelled residence visa?

Yes. This is the most common case we handle. Your employer cancels the residency, you receive the cancellation paper, and we convert you to a 60 day tourist visa at the same AED 1,550 rate.

Where does the flight go?

We book flydubai to Muscat, Kuwait or Doha based on seat availability. Each is a short flight with a same day return.

Do Italy passport holders need an Oman visa for this?

No visa is required because you never clear immigration in the transit country.

Can my children travel on the same package?

Certainly. Every family member, including children, needs a ticket and visa, and we arrange all of them together.

What if my visa is not approved?

Refusals are rare. If immigration declines, you cannot re enter the UAE on the return flight and would need to travel onward. Visa processing fees are not refundable because they cover government costs, which is why we assess risk factors such as previous overstays or bans before you pay.

Are visa changes by air allowed?

Yes. It is a standard immigration process: you exit on your old visa and enter on a new one issued by UAE authorities. Always use a licensed agency so the visa is applied through official channels.
