Sweden passport a2a visa change in the UAE

For travellers from Sweden, a a2a visa change means leaving the UAE on a short flight and coming back the same day with a brand new 60 day tourist visa. We arrange the flydubai return ticket, submit the visa application the moment your exit registers, and stay on WhatsApp with you until you clear immigration in Dubai.

Short version: AED 1,550, one flydubai return flight, one new 60 day single entry tourist visa, and a typical turnaround of six to twelve hours for Sweden citizens doing a a2a visa change.

Looking to extend your stay in the UAE?

Let White Sky Travel help you process an airport visa change from a tourist visa, cancelled residence visa, or current visa on-arrival.

What is a a2a visa change?

A a2a visa change is an exit and re entry. Because the new permit can only be granted to someone who is outside the UAE, Sweden citizens must exit before the visa is approved. Flying is the fastest way to satisfy that rule. Most Sweden travellers fly from Dubai Terminal 2 to Muscat, Kuwait City or Doha and are back in Dubai the same day.

A bus visa change through Oman exists as well, but it costs a night away and a much longer day. Although a a2a visa change is dearer than the bus option, the time saved makes it the sensible choice for most Sweden visitors.

Situations where Sweden citizens need a a2a visa change

Most 30 day and 60 day UAE visit visas can now be extended from inside the country, so a a2a visa change is not always necessary. Here is when it becomes the right choice for a Sweden passport holder:

  • Your extensions are exhausted: three for a 30 day visa, two for a 60 day visa, with 120 days as the overall limit.
  • Your employer has cancelled your residence visa. Cancellation papers cannot be extended, so a a2a visa change converts you to a 60 day tourist visa.
  • The expiry date has passed. Extension is no longer possible, so a a2a visa change after paying any fine is the way forward.
  • You entered on a visa type that cannot be extended in country, such as certain on arrival stamps or multiple entry permits. Message us on WhatsApp and we will confirm which category your Sweden passport falls under.

Do not wait until the last day

UAE authorities charge AED 50 for every day a visit visa remains expired, and the same flat rate applies across all visa types and emirates. Tourist and visit visas carry no grace period, which means fines begin immediately after the expiry date. Overstays beyond 30 days also require an exit permit, usually AED 250 to 300, on top of the daily fine. A a2a visa change booked ten days before expiry costs exactly the same as one booked on the last day, so we recommend contacting us when you still have 10 to 15 days remaining.

a2a visa change price for Sweden passport holders

At White Sky Travel a a2a visa change costs AED 1,550 and includes the flydubai return ticket and a 60 day single entry tourist visa. Tourist visa holders and cancelled residents pay an identical amount. The amount includes the flight, the government visa fee and our support throughout the day.

  • Visa issued: 60 day single entry UAE tourist visa
  • Flight: flydubai return ticket from Dubai Terminal 2 to Muscat, Kuwait City or Doha
  • Processing: visa applied while you are outside the UAE and sent to your WhatsApp as a PDF
  • Assistance: WhatsApp support throughout, including on the day of travel
  • Price: AED 1,550 per adult

We only sell the 60 day a2a visa change, since a 30 day visa would cost nearly as much for half the validity. A few nationalities pay an additional AED 100 for longer processing. We check the position for Sweden passports and tell you upfront. If you have overstayed, the fine is paid directly to immigration and is not included in the AED 1,550.

Some Sweden applicants may need to place a refundable security deposit. It is independent of the visa price, is returned after you exit the country, and we state the amount clearly on WhatsApp first.

Instalment options

Residents of the UAE who book on behalf of Sweden visitors can use Tabby for up to 12 months, Tamara with extendable repayment, or a UAE credit card with 3, 6, 9 or 12 month terms set by the card issuer. All other applicants receive a secure online payment link.

a2a visa change documents for Sweden passport holders

Share these four items on WhatsApp and we will confirm whether we can proceed, typically within the hour:

  1. A clear scan of your Sweden passport, both the data page and the back cover. Missing back covers cause most resubmissions.
  2. Passport validity of at least six months from the planned travel date, with at least two blank pages and no damage.
  3. One colour passport photo on a plain white background, no more than six months old.
  4. The existing tourist visa PDF or, for cancelled residents, the cancellation document.

A bank statement covering six months is required for certain passports. Where Sweden citizens are affected, the statement of a family member living in the UAE is accepted. Please also carry a card or some cash on the return flight, since immigration can ask arriving visitors to show proof of funds. Before the flight we will send you a link to the guarantee form at applyvisa.app, which takes a few minutes to complete.

a2a visa change step by step for Sweden travellers

Preparation

We lock in the flight, forward the ticket on WhatsApp and check that any outstanding fines have been paid online. With a valid visa, no payment is due at the airport. We always advise Sweden travellers to fly Monday to Thursday, because a Friday departure that hits a delay can mean waiting through the Saturday and Sunday weekend.

Departure from Dubai

Arrive at Dubai International Terminal 2 around five hours before departure, check in at the flydubai counter and collect both boarding passes. WhatsApp us photos of both boarding passes before you go through immigration. After the exit is registered, we submit the new tourist visa application for your Sweden passport without delay.

While you wait abroad

Flight time is roughly an hour. There is no need to enter the transit country; you stay airside and check in for the return sector. In standard cases the new visa is approved within a few hours and we send the PDF to your WhatsApp before your return flight. If your application is referred for a security check, approval can take 24 to 48 hours. Both flydubai and Air Arabia allow passengers to wait at the airport until the visa is approved, and we stay in contact throughout.

Arrival at Terminal 2

If we have already sent the PDF, go straight to the eGate at Terminal 2. Should the visa still be pending on landing, avoid the eGate, use the manual counters and wait in the Terminal 2 holding area until we confirm. The new 60 day visa starts counting from the day you re enter.

Should Sweden travellers extend, fly or take the bus?

An in country extension at AED 1,200 for 30 days is the simplest route if you are still eligible. Once extension is off the table, the a2a visa change is the better option, giving 60 days for AED 1,550. Travellers on a tight budget sometimes choose the Oman bus, which starts at AED 1,000 for cancelled residents or AED 1,400 to 1,500 for visitors, at the cost of an overnight trip. For the majority of travellers from Sweden, the a2a visa change is the more comfortable and predictable route.

FlyDubai airport visa renewal in dubai

Mistakes to avoid

  • Leaving it to the last minute. Seats disappear around Eid, December and January, so contact us a week or more in advance.
  • A passport expiring within six months. Renew it before attempting a a2a visa change.
  • Mismatched names between ticket and passport, which airlines and immigration treat seriously.
  • Unpaid fines. Immigration will not let you board with outstanding overstay fines, so check and pay through the GDRFA or ICP app before you reach the airport.
  • Assuming a grace period. There is none, so a visa expiring on the 10th must be extended or exited by the 10th.
  • Hidden immigration records. Let us know about earlier problems so we can assess the risk honestly before booking.

Questions Sweden travellers ask us

How long will I be away from Dubai?

Plan for six to twelve hours. In rare cases a security review adds 24 to 48 hours, and both flydubai and Air Arabia let you stay airside until it clears.

How often can I repeat a a2a visa change?

No official cap exists, though immigration reviews each case separately and frequent repeats draw more attention. Most Sweden visitors do one or two before obtaining residency or departing.

Can I do a a2a visa change on a cancelled residence visa?

Absolutely. Cancelled residents from Sweden are converted to a 60 day tourist visa through a a2a visa change at the standard AED 1,550.

Which country will I transit through?

Muscat, Kuwait City or Doha, depending on flydubai availability on your chosen date. All are under two hours from Dubai and support a same day return.

Do Sweden passport holders need an Oman visa for this?

No. You remain airside at the transit airport, so no visa for that country is needed.

What about children on Sweden passports?

Yes. Children require individual tickets and visas, and we prepare a single quote for the whole family.

What if immigration declines the application?

Refusal is rare but final. You would need to travel elsewhere and the visa fee is retained by the authorities. Our pre check is designed to catch problems early.

Is this an official process?

Yes. You leave on the current visa and return on a new one granted by UAE immigration. Using a licensed agency keeps the application within official channels.
