a2a visa change for Taiwan passport holders

For travellers from Taiwan, a a2a visa change means leaving the UAE on a short flight and coming back the same day with a brand new 60 day tourist visa. We arrange the flydubai return ticket, submit the visa application the moment your exit registers, and stay on WhatsApp with you until you clear immigration in Dubai.

The essentials for Taiwan passport holders: AED 1,550 all in, a same day flydubai rotation from Dubai Terminal 2, and a 60 day single entry visa issued while you wait at the transit airport.

How a a2a visa change works

A a2a visa change is simply a controlled exit followed by a fresh entry. Because the new permit can only be granted to someone who is outside the UAE, Taiwan citizens must exit before the visa is approved. A short flight is the quickest way to meet that condition. The typical route runs from Dubai International Terminal 2 to Muscat, Kuwait or Doha, with a return the same day.

Some visitors choose the Oman bus route instead, though it is slower and involves sleeping near the border crossing. Although a a2a visa change is dearer than the bus option, the time saved makes it the sensible choice for most Taiwan visitors.

Situations where Taiwan citizens need a a2a visa change

Most 30 day and 60 day UAE visit visas can now be extended from inside the country, so a a2a visa change is not always necessary. For Taiwan citizens, the following circumstances call for a a2a visa change:

  • You have used every in country extension available. A 30 day visa can be extended three times and a 60 day visa twice, each by 30 days, up to a total stay of 120 days.
  • Your employer has cancelled your residence visa. Cancellation papers cannot be extended, so a a2a visa change converts you to a 60 day tourist visa.
  • The expiry date has passed. Extension is no longer possible, so a a2a visa change after paying any fine is the way forward.
  • Your entry stamp is one that immigration does not extend, which applies to some on arrival and multiple entry visas. We can confirm the rules for Taiwan passports on WhatsApp.

Why timing matters in 2026

An expired visa attracts a fine of AED 50 per day, and that figure is the same for every visa category and every emirate. Visitors do not receive any grace days, and the fine runs from the first day of overstay. After 30 days of overstay, an exit permit of roughly AED 250 to 300 becomes necessary as well. A a2a visa change booked ten days before expiry costs exactly the same as one booked on the last day, so we recommend contacting us when you still have 10 to 15 days remaining.

Price of a a2a visa change on a Taiwan passport

At White Sky Travel a a2a visa change costs AED 1,550 and includes the flydubai return ticket and a 60 day single entry tourist visa. There is one rate for both tourist visa renewals and residence cancellation cases. The amount includes the flight, the government visa fee and our support throughout the day.

  • New UAE tourist visa: 60 days, single entry
  • Ticket: flydubai return from Dubai International Terminal 2 to a nearby GCC airport
  • How you get it: a PDF copy on WhatsApp while you wait at the transit airport
  • Support: live WhatsApp contact from document check to arrival in Dubai
  • Fee: AED 1,550 per adult traveller

We do not offer a 30 day a2a visa change. A 30 day visa costs nearly the same to process and gives you half the time, so the 60 day option is better value in every case we see. Some nationalities carry an AED 100 surcharge for extended processing; we confirm on WhatsApp whether this applies to Taiwan citizens. Overstay fines, if any, are paid by the traveller at the immigration desk before departure and are not part of the package.

For a limited set of nationalities a refundable deposit is requested. It sits apart from the AED 1,550, comes back to you after your final exit, and we confirm whether it applies to Taiwan citizens before booking.

Pay in instalments

For UAE residents sponsoring a Taiwan family member or friend, the AED 1,550 can be split with Tabby up to 12 months, Tamara on extendable terms, or a UAE credit card over 3, 6, 9 or 12 months according to the bank. Everyone else is sent a secure payment link online.

Documents required for a Taiwan passport

Share these four items on WhatsApp and we will confirm whether we can proceed, typically within the hour:

  1. Passport scan showing the front page and the back cover. A missing back cover is the most common reason an application is returned, so please include both.
  2. Passport validity of at least six months from the planned travel date, with at least two blank pages and no damage.
  3. A white background colour photo in passport format, without eyewear, taken recently.
  4. Your current visa copy, either the tourist visa you hold or the residence cancellation paper.

Some nationalities may be asked for a six month bank statement, and where that applies to a Taiwan passport a UAE based family member’s statement can be submitted on your behalf. Bear in mind that immigration officers sometimes ask arriving passengers to show they can fund their stay, so keep a card or cash accessible. Before the flight we will send you a link to the guarantee form at applyvisa.app, which takes a few minutes to complete.

The a2a visa change process from start to finish

Before travel

Once your documents are approved we book the flydubai seat, send you the ticket and ask you to clear any fines in the GDRFA or ICP app. If your visa has not expired, there is nothing to pay at the airport. We always advise Taiwan travellers to fly Monday to Thursday, because a Friday departure that hits a delay can mean waiting through the Saturday and Sunday weekend.

At the airport

Reach Terminal 2 at Dubai International about five hours early, check in with flydubai and ask for the outbound and return boarding passes together. WhatsApp us photos of both boarding passes before you go through immigration. After the exit is registered, we submit the new tourist visa application for your Taiwan passport without delay.

At the transit airport

The hop to Muscat, Kuwait or Doha takes close to an hour. You remain in the transit area and do not need to clear immigration in Oman, Kuwait or Qatar for a same day return. Most applications clear within a few hours, and the approved visa reaches your WhatsApp as a PDF. A small number of applications go to security check, which can add 24 to 48 hours. Airlines permit you to wait at the airport, and we keep you updated until it clears.

Arrival at Terminal 2

Once you have the PDF from us, you can use the eGate at Terminal 2 for a quick entry. If the visa is still processing when you land, do not use the eGate; go to a manual immigration counter and wait in the designated area until we confirm approval. Validity runs for 60 days from your arrival.

Should Taiwan travellers extend, fly or take the bus?

An in country extension at AED 1,200 for 30 days is the simplest route if you are still eligible. A a2a visa change steps in when extension ends, and it gives 60 days instead of 30. Travellers on a tight budget sometimes choose the Oman bus, which starts at AED 1,000 for cancelled residents or AED 1,400 to 1,500 for visitors, at the cost of an overnight trip. For most Taiwan visitors the flight is the better balance of time, comfort and certainty.

FlyDubai airport visa renewal in dubai

Mistakes to avoid

  • Late bookings. Demand spikes at Eid, in December and in January, so start early.
  • A passport expiring within six months. Renew it before attempting a a2a visa change.
  • Ticket name errors. We need the full name exactly as printed in the Taiwan passport.
  • Fines left unpaid. Settle everything online before the flight to avoid being held at the exit counter.
  • Assuming a grace period. There is none, so a visa expiring on the 10th must be extended or exited by the 10th.
  • Undisclosed history. Prior overstays, bans or uncancelled visas can lead to refusal, so share them with us upfront.

Questions Taiwan travellers ask us

What is the total time from departure to return?

Most Taiwan travellers are back within six to twelve hours. A security check can extend this to 24 to 48 hours, during which you may wait at the airport.

How many times can a Taiwan citizen do a a2a visa change?

No official cap exists, though immigration reviews each case separately and frequent repeats draw more attention. Most Taiwan visitors do one or two before obtaining residency or departing.

Is a a2a visa change possible for cancelled residents?

Yes. Send the cancellation document and we handle the change to a 60 day tourist visa for the same flat price.

Which country will I transit through?

Muscat is the most common, with Kuwait and Doha as alternatives, all within two hours of Dubai.

Do I need a visa for Oman, Kuwait or Qatar?

No. You remain airside at the transit airport, so no visa for that country is needed.

Is there a family option?

Yes. WhatsApp us all the passports and we will send one price for the family.

What if immigration declines the application?

Very few applications are refused. If yours is, the return to Dubai is not possible and onward travel is required. Government visa fees cannot be refunded, so we review your history carefully first.

Is this an official process?

It is fully legal. The visa is issued by the UAE authorities in the normal way; the only difference is that you are outside the country at the time.
