A a2a visa change is the fastest lawful way for Vietnam passport holders to receive a new 60 day UAE tourist visa when the visa they currently hold can no longer be extended. Our team books the flight, lodges the visa application at the right moment and guides you on WhatsApp through every stage of the day.
The essentials for Vietnam passport holders: AED 1,550 all in, a same day flydubai rotation from Dubai Terminal 2, and a 60 day single entry visa issued while you wait at the transit airport.
Looking to extend your stay in the UAE?
Let White Sky Travel help you process an airport visa change from a tourist visa, cancelled residence visa, or current visa on-arrival.
What is a a2a visa change?
A a2a visa change is simply a controlled exit followed by a fresh entry. The rule is that the applicant, in this case a Vietnam passport holder, must be abroad when the new visa is processed. Flying is the fastest way to satisfy that rule. From Dubai you would normally fly to Muscat, Kuwait City or Doha and return to Terminal 2 within six to twelve hours.
There is also a bus option to Oman, but it takes a full day or more and includes an overnight stay. Flying is the more expensive choice, but it is faster and far more comfortable for Vietnam families, older passengers and busy professionals.
Is a a2a visa change the right option for you?
Most 30 day and 60 day UAE visit visas can now be extended from inside the country, so a a2a visa change is not always necessary. These are the situations where Vietnam travellers should book one:
- You have used every in country extension available. A 30 day visa can be extended three times and a 60 day visa twice, each by 30 days, up to a total stay of 120 days.
- Your UAE residence visa has been cancelled. A cancelled residency cannot be extended, so we convert your status to a 60 day tourist visa through a a2a visa change.
- The expiry date has passed. Extension is no longer possible, so a a2a visa change after paying any fine is the way forward.
- Your entry stamp is one that immigration does not extend, which applies to some on arrival and multiple entry visas. We can confirm the rules for Vietnam passports on WhatsApp.
Overstay fines and why you should book early
Every day past expiry costs AED 50 in fines, whichever emirate issued the visa and whichever visa type you hold. No grace period applies to visit visas, so the counter starts the very next day. Anyone who overstays by more than 30 days also needs an exit permit, typically AED 250 to 300, before they can leave. A a2a visa change booked ten days before expiry costs exactly the same as one booked on the last day, so we recommend contacting us when you still have 10 to 15 days remaining.

a2a visa change cost from Dubai for Vietnam citizens
We offer one product: a 60 day single entry UAE tourist visa with a flydubai return ticket for AED 1,550. The price is the same whether you are changing from a tourist visa or converting a cancelled residence visa. That figure pays for the flydubai ticket, the visa itself and our coordination on travel day.
- New UAE tourist visa: 60 days, single entry
- Flight included: flydubai round trip from Dubai Terminal 2
- Delivery: approved visa PDF on WhatsApp, usually before your return flight
- Support: live WhatsApp contact from document check to arrival in Dubai
- Rate: AED 1,550 per person
A 30 day a2a visa change is not available through us because the processing cost is similar and the value is poorer than the 60 day visa. An AED 100 supplement applies to certain passports that need extra processing time. Ask us whether Vietnam is on that list before you book. Overstay fines, if any, are paid by the traveller at the immigration desk before departure and are not part of the package.
Some Vietnam applicants may need to place a refundable security deposit. It is independent of the visa price, is returned after you exit the country, and we state the amount clearly on WhatsApp first.
Instalment options
For UAE residents sponsoring a Vietnam family member or friend, the AED 1,550 can be split with Tabby up to 12 months, Tamara on extendable terms, or a UAE credit card over 3, 6, 9 or 12 months according to the bank. Everyone else is sent a secure payment link online.
Documents required for a Vietnam passport
Send these on WhatsApp and we can usually confirm eligibility within the hour:
- Front page and back cover of the passport. Applications are most frequently sent back because the back cover was left out.
- A passport valid for six months or more from the date of travel, in good condition with two blank pages.
- One colour passport photo on a plain white background, no more than six months old.
- Your current visa copy, either the tourist visa you hold or the residence cancellation paper.
A bank statement covering six months is required for certain passports. Where Vietnam citizens are affected, the statement of a family member living in the UAE is accepted. Bear in mind that immigration officers sometimes ask arriving passengers to show they can fund their stay, so keep a card or cash accessible. Please complete the guarantee form at applyvisa.app once we confirm your booking.
The a2a visa change process from start to finish
The day before you fly
We confirm your flydubai flight, share the ticket and remind you to settle any overstay fine through the GDRFA or ICP app. With a valid visa, no payment is due at the airport. We always advise Vietnam travellers to fly Monday to Thursday, because a Friday departure that hits a delay can mean waiting through the Saturday and Sunday weekend.
Check in and exit at Dubai Terminal 2
Reach Terminal 2 at Dubai International about five hours early, check in with flydubai and ask for the outbound and return boarding passes together. WhatsApp us photos of both boarding passes before you go through immigration. Your exit stamp ends the current visa, and we lodge the fresh visa the instant the exit appears in the system.
The waiting period
Flight time is roughly an hour. Because you do not leave the airport, Vietnam passport holders need no visa for the transit country. Approval usually arrives within hours, and you receive the visa PDF on WhatsApp. A small number of applications go to security check, which can add 24 to 48 hours. Airlines permit you to wait at the airport, and we keep you updated until it clears.
Returning to Dubai
Holding the approved PDF, you may pass through the Terminal 2 eGate. If the visa is still processing when you land, do not use the eGate; go to a manual immigration counter and wait in the designated area until we confirm approval. The new 60 day visa starts counting from the day you re enter.
A2A versus extension versus bus
Before flying, check whether you qualify for the AED 1,200 in country extension, which adds 30 days without leaving. A a2a visa change becomes the right choice the moment extension is no longer possible, and it delivers 60 days rather than 30 for AED 1,550. The bus to Oman costs less, from AED 1,000 for residence cancellation and AED 1,400 to 1,500 for visit visa holders, but it takes a day or two and includes a night away. Most Vietnam passport holders find the flight worth the difference for the time it saves.

What can go wrong and how to avoid it
- Booking too late. Flights sell out around Eid, December and the January peak, so message us at least a week ahead.
- Passport validity under six months. Renew before you travel, as immigration will not issue a visa against a short validity passport.
- Ticket name errors. We need the full name exactly as printed in the Vietnam passport.
- Outstanding fines. Clear them in the GDRFA or ICP app before travel, or you will be stopped at immigration.
- Believing there is a buffer. There is not, and fines start the day after expiry.
- Previous immigration issues. Old bans, unresolved cases or improperly cancelled visas can affect approval, so tell us about them before you pay.
Vietnam passport a2a visa change FAQ
How long will I be away from Dubai?
Typically six to twelve hours from departure to re entry. Some applications need 24 to 48 hours if immigration orders a security check, and the airline allows you to wait at the airport in that case.
Can I do this more than once?
The rules set no maximum, but each new visa is a fresh decision by immigration, and consecutive changes are looked at more carefully.
My residency was cancelled. Can I still apply?
Yes. Send the cancellation document and we handle the change to a 60 day tourist visa for the same flat price.
Where does the flight go?
Muscat, Kuwait City or Doha, depending on flydubai availability on your chosen date. All are under two hours from Dubai and support a same day return.
Will I need a visa for the other country?
No visa is required because you never clear immigration in the transit country.
Can I bring my family?
Yes. Children require individual tickets and visas, and we prepare a single quote for the whole family.
What if my visa is not approved?
Rejection is uncommon. Should it happen, you would need to fly on to your home country or another destination, and the visa fee is not refundable as it is a government charge. We flag risks before booking so that this does not come as a surprise.
Is this an official process?
Yes. You leave on the current visa and return on a new one granted by UAE immigration. Using a licensed agency keeps the application within official channels.
