A Bus visa change to Oman is the most economical route for Fiji passport holders who need to exit the UAE and come back on a new tourist visa. We arrange the round trip coach, your Oman visa, the new UAE visa and every border fee in one package from AED 1,000. Below we cover eligibility, cost, timing, paperwork and what actually happens between Dubai and the Oman border for Fiji travellers.
Short version: from AED 1,000 all in for a Fiji passport, Sunday to Wednesday departures, one day round trip to the Oman border, new 60 day UAE tourist visa issued before you return.
Planning to extend your stay in the UAE?
Check our visa renewal by bus service, including the UAE visa, border fees, Oman visa, two way bus fare, and accommodation until your visa is approved. Monthly payment is available with Tabby, Tamara, and UAE credit cards up to 12 months.
Bus visa change explained for Fiji travellers
At its core, a Bus visa change is a controlled exit from the UAE by land followed by a fresh entry. Immigration only links a new visa to a Fiji passport once the holder has left the UAE, which is why the trip to Oman is essential. The journey runs Dubai to the Oman border by coach, into Oman, then back into the UAE once immigration has approved the new tourist visa. The standard trip is one day; an extra day in Oman can be added when needed.
If you would rather not spend a day on the road, an airport to airport visa change via flydubai takes six to twelve hours and costs AED 1,550. The coach route is the more affordable choice for Fiji passport holders with a free day and a tight budget.
Who qualifies
Availability of the Bus visa change depends on the nationality of the passport and the type of visa currently held. Message a scan of your Fiji passport and existing visa to our WhatsApp and we confirm eligibility for the bus, the flight, or an extension without exit. Typical Fiji applicants are:
- Tourist visa holders who have used all their in country extensions. A 30 day visa can be extended three times and a 60 day visa twice, each by 30 days, up to a total stay of 120 days; after that, an exit is required.
- Residents whose visa was cancelled and who want to convert to a 60 day tourist visa rather than leave the country.
- Visa on arrival holders whose stamp cannot be extended in country and who need a fresh visa to stay longer.
The rule every Fiji visitor should know
An expired visa attracts a fine of AED 50 per day, and that figure is the same for every visa category and every emirate. No grace period applies to visit visas, so the counter starts the very next day. Unpaid fines block the exit, so they must be cleared before travel day. Departures are Sunday to Wednesday only, which is why we recommend booking 7 to 10 days in advance.

How much does a Bus visa change to Oman cost?
Our Bus visa change package is priced by the visa you currently hold, not by nationality, although a refundable deposit or surcharge may apply for some passports.
- Residence cancellation or on arrival visa: AED 1,000
- Existing tourist visa: AED 1,300
Each price covers the coach both ways, the Oman visa, the new UAE visa application and every charge at the border. Most Fiji travellers receive a 60 day single entry visa; 30 day availability varies, so confirm with us on WhatsApp. A one day stay in Oman is available as an add on. Fines for overstaying are cleared directly with immigration and sit outside the package price.
For a limited set of nationalities a refundable deposit is requested. It sits apart from the package price, comes back to you after your final exit, and we confirm whether it applies to Fiji citizens before booking.
Instalment options
Residents of the UAE who book on behalf of Fiji visitors can use Tabby for up to 12 months, Tamara with extendable repayment, or a UAE credit card with 3, 6, 9 or 12 month terms set by the card issuer. Other travellers pay by a secure online payment link that we send on WhatsApp.
What Fiji citizens need to send us
WhatsApp us the following and expect an eligibility answer within about an hour:
- Your passport data page plus a photo of the back cover, with six months or more validity. We ask for both because the back cover is the item most often forgotten.
- A recent colour photograph, white background, passport dimensions, no glasses.
- Whatever permit you currently hold: tourist visa copy, arrival stamp, or residence cancellation paper.
- A UAE phone number and your current address, used to arrange the coach pick up.
Depending on nationality, a six month bank statement may be requested. If that applies to Fiji applicants, a UAE resident family member can provide theirs instead. We handle the Oman eVisa application ahead of time; nothing is needed from you at the Omani side. Bring your original passport and a bank card or cash, as immigration can request proof of funds when you re enter.

What happens on the day
Before travel
After verification and payment we lodge the Oman eVisa, book your coach seat and send the pick up location and time on WhatsApp. Any overstay fine should be paid in the GDRFA or ICP app before you travel.
Departure from Dubai
You board the coach in Dubai in the morning for the drive to the Oman crossing. Your exit stamp ends the current visa; as soon as it appears in the system we lodge the fresh tourist visa. With the exit complete, you enter Oman on the visa we prepared.
The approval window
In standard cases the visa is granted the same day and we forward the PDF on WhatsApp. A small number of applications go to security check, which can add 24 to 48 hours. In that case the optional overnight stay covers you, and we keep you updated throughout. Immigration makes the final call on every application.
Re entry
Holding the approved visa, you re enter the UAE on the return coach and clear immigration with the PDF and your passport. The new 60 day visa is activated at entry and starts counting from that day. Return to Dubai is the same day in most cases, or the next day for those who stayed over.
Bus visa change compared with other options
If you still have an in country extension available, use it first; a 30 day extension without exit costs AED 1,200 and needs no travel. With no extension left, the Bus visa change offers the lowest price for a new 60 day visa, if a day on the road and midweek travel suit you. The flight option costs AED 1,550, operates daily and is back in Dubai in six to twelve hours, ideal for Fiji travellers with work or school commitments.
Common problems for Fiji applicants and how we prevent them
- Leaving it to the last minute. With midweek departures only and peak demand at Eid, December and January, book 7 to 10 days in advance.
- Passport validity under six months. Renew before you travel, as neither Oman nor UAE immigration will accept a short validity passport.
- Overstay fines still due. Pay them in advance through the GDRFA or ICP app.
- Believing there is a buffer. There is not, and fines start the day after expiry.
- Undisclosed history. Prior overstays, bans or uncancelled visas can lead to refusal, so share them with us upfront.
- Travelling without the physical passport. Both borders require the original document.
Fiji passport Bus visa change FAQ
How many hours does the bus trip take?
Plan for a full day. Most Fiji travellers return the same evening; a security review can add 24 to 48 hours and an overnight stay.
How much does a Bus visa change to Oman cost for Fiji citizens?
The package costs AED 1,000 if you hold a cancellation paper or arrival stamp and AED 1,300 if you are on a tourist visa. Coach, Oman visa, UAE visa and border fees are included. Some nationalities may need a refundable deposit.
Which days does the Bus visa change run?
Departures are Sunday through Wednesday. No coaches run Thursday to Saturday, so plan ahead and book 7 to 10 days in advance.
Who arranges the Oman visa?
An Oman visa is needed and is part of the package price. Our team applies through the official eVisa portal in advance.
My residency was cancelled. Can I take the bus?
Yes, and it is the situation we see most often. Cancelled residents pay AED 1,000 and receive a 60 day tourist visa.
Is there a limit on repeat visa changes?
You may repeat it, but approval is never automatic and repeated changes are scrutinised. One or two is typical.
What if my visa is not approved while I am in Oman?
Rejection is uncommon. Should it happen, you would need to fly on from Oman to your home country or another destination, and the visa fee is not refundable as it is a government charge. We flag risks before booking.
Is this an official process?
It is fully legal. The visa is issued by the UAE authorities in the normal way; the only difference is that you are outside the country at the time.
