If you hold a Italy passport and your UAE visa is about to expire, a Bus visa change to Oman is the lowest cost way to leave the country and return on a fresh tourist visa. Our package covers the return bus, the Oman entry visa, UAE visa processing and all border charges, starting at AED 1,000. This page explains who qualifies, what a Italy passport holder pays, which days the service runs, what to bring, and how the day unfolds at the border.
In short: Italy passport holders pay AED 1,000 (cancelled residence or on arrival visa) or AED 1,300 (tourist visa) for a Bus visa change to Oman. The price covers the coach both ways, the Oman visa, the new UAE visa and border fees. Departures run Sunday to Wednesday and the trip takes roughly a day.
Planning to extend your stay in the UAE?
Check our visa renewal by bus service, including the UAE visa, border fees, Oman visa, two way bus fare, and accommodation until your visa is approved. Monthly payment is available with Tabby, Tamara, and UAE credit cards up to 12 months.
How a UAE Bus visa change works
A Bus visa change works on one principle: you must be outside the UAE before a new tourist visa can be activated, and the Oman land border is the closest place to do that. Immigration only links a new visa to a Italy passport once the holder has left the UAE, which is why the trip to Oman is essential. You travel by road to Oman, stay on the Omani side while the application is processed, and re enter the UAE with the new 60 day visa. Expect roughly one day door to door, plus an optional night in Oman if the visa is not ready before the last coach.
The air option, a flydubai rotation to a nearby GCC airport, is quicker at six to twelve hours but costs AED 1,550. The coach route is the more affordable choice for Italy passport holders with a free day and a tight budget.
Is a Bus visa change available for Italy citizens?
Not every passport can use the land border route; eligibility is set by nationality and by your current visa status. Message a scan of your Italy passport and existing visa to our WhatsApp and we confirm eligibility for the bus, the flight, or an extension without exit. The route is popular with:
- People on a visit visa who have no extension left and must exit to receive a new visa.
- Former residents whose employment visa has been cancelled and who need a tourist visa to remain in the UAE.
- Visitors on an arrival stamp who prefer a new visa over departing the region.
Do not wait until the last day
Every day past expiry costs AED 50 in fines, whichever emirate issued the visa and whichever visa type you hold. No grace period applies to visit visas, so the counter starts the very next day. Any overstay fine is settled before departure, since immigration will not clear you to exit with fines outstanding. The coach operates Sunday to Wednesday, so book at least 7 to 10 days before your visa runs out.

Bus visa change price for Italy passport holders
We charge according to the visa you are on today; nationality can add a refundable deposit or surcharge in a few cases.
- Residence cancellation or on arrival visa: AED 1,000
- Tourist visa holders: AED 1,300
Each price covers the coach both ways, the Oman visa, the new UAE visa application and every charge at the border. We issue a 60 day single entry visa as standard. A 30 day version is sometimes available, so ask us when you book. A one day stay in Oman is available as an add on. Overstay fines, if any, are paid by the traveller to immigration before departure and are not part of the package.
For a limited set of nationalities a refundable deposit is requested. It sits apart from the package price, comes back to you after your final exit, and we confirm whether it applies to Italy citizens before booking.
Pay in instalments
For UAE residents sponsoring a Italy family member or friend, the package can be split with Tabby up to 12 months, Tamara on extendable terms, or a UAE credit card over 3, 6, 9 or 12 months according to the bank. Other travellers pay by a secure online payment link that we send on WhatsApp.
Paperwork for a Bus visa change
Share these items on WhatsApp and we will confirm whether we can proceed, typically within the hour:
- A clear scan of your Italy passport, both the data page and the back cover, with at least six months validity. Missing back covers cause most resubmissions.
- One colour passport photo on a plain white background.
- The existing tourist visa PDF, the on arrival stamp page, or for cancelled residents the cancellation document.
- A reachable UAE number and address so we can share pick up instructions.
Depending on nationality, a six month bank statement may be requested. If that applies to Italy applicants, a UAE resident family member can provide theirs instead. The Oman visa is arranged by our team through the eVisa system before you travel. Carry the original passport on the day, plus a card or some cash, because UAE immigration may ask returning travellers to show proof of funds.

Bus visa change step by step for Italy travellers
Seven to ten days ahead
We process the Oman visa, secure a seat on the next available Sunday to Wednesday departure and share pick up details on WhatsApp. Clear outstanding fines online through GDRFA or ICP ahead of the trip.
Departure from Dubai
Departure is in the morning from the agreed pick up point in Dubai. Immigration records your exit at the UAE side, closing the old visa, and we file the new visa application immediately after. You clear Omani immigration on the prearranged eVisa.
On the Omani side
Most Italy applications clear within a few hours, and the approved visa reaches your phone as a PDF. A small number of applications go to security check, which can add 24 to 48 hours. In that case the optional overnight stay covers you, and we keep you updated throughout. Immigration makes the final call on every application.
Back into the UAE
With the new visa PDF on your phone, you board the return coach and present it with your Italy passport at the UAE entry counter. Validity runs for 60 days from your re entry date. Return to Dubai is the same day in most cases, or the next day for those who stayed over.
Bus visa change compared with other options
Where an extension is still possible, take it: the in country option costs AED 1,200 for 30 days and requires no trip. Once extension is no longer possible, the Bus visa change from AED 1,000 is the cheapest way to receive a new 60 day visa, at the cost of a full day and Sunday to Wednesday departures only. The flight option costs AED 1,550, operates daily and is back in Dubai in six to twelve hours, ideal for Italy travellers with work or school commitments.
Why bus visa changes get delayed
- Booking too late. The coach runs Sunday to Wednesday only and seats fill quickly around Eid, December and January, so message us 7 to 10 days ahead.
- Passport validity under six months. Renew before you travel, as neither Oman nor UAE immigration will accept a short validity passport.
- Outstanding fines. Clear them in the GDRFA or ICP app before the trip, or you will be stopped at the exit counter.
- Expecting extra days after expiry. The UAE gives visitors none, so plan around the exact date.
- Hidden immigration records. Let us know about earlier problems so we can assess the risk honestly before booking.
- Bringing only a passport copy. The original Italy passport is mandatory at the border.
Italy passport Bus visa change FAQ
How long does a Bus visa change to Oman take for a Italy passport?
One day is normal. In rare cases a security check pushes approval to 24 to 48 hours, and we arrange the stay in Oman.
How much is the bus package?
AED 1,000 for cancelled residence or visa on arrival holders and AED 1,300 for tourist visa holders. Both include the round trip coach, the Oman visa, the new UAE tourist visa and all border fees. A refundable deposit or surcharge may apply for some nationalities, which we confirm for Italy passports on WhatsApp.
Can I travel on the weekend?
Midweek only: Sunday to Wednesday. Book 7 to 10 days ahead to secure a seat before your visa runs out.
Do Italy passport holders need an Oman visa for the trip?
An Oman visa is required for the crossing and we handle the eVisa application for Italy passports as part of the service.
My residency was cancelled. Can I take the bus?
Absolutely. Cancelled residents from Italy use the bus route at AED 1,000 and return on a 60 day tourist visa.
Can I do this more than once?
There is no fixed limit, but every application is assessed on its own and repeated back to back changes attract closer scrutiny. Most of our clients do one or two before moving to a residence visa or leaving the UAE.
What if immigration declines the application?
Refusal is rare but final. You would need to travel elsewhere from Oman and the visa fee is retained by the authorities. Our pre check is designed to catch problems early.
Are visa changes by road allowed?
Yes. It is a standard immigration process: you exit on your old visa and enter on a new one issued by UAE authorities. Always use a licensed agency so the visa is applied through official channels.
