A Bus visa change to Oman is the most economical route for Malta passport holders who need to exit the UAE and come back on a new tourist visa. White Sky Travel bundles the coach both ways, the Oman visa, the UAE visa application and the border fees into a single price from AED 1,000. This page explains who qualifies, what a Malta passport holder pays, which days the service runs, what to bring, and how the day unfolds at the border.
The essentials for Malta citizens: AED 1,000 if you are on a cancelled residence or on arrival visa, AED 1,300 if you hold a tourist visa. Coach, Oman visa, UAE visa and border fees are all included. The service runs Sunday to Wednesday and takes about one day.
Planning to extend your stay in the UAE?
Check our visa renewal by bus service, including the UAE visa, border fees, Oman visa, two way bus fare, and accommodation until your visa is approved. Monthly payment is available with Tabby, Tamara, and UAE credit cards up to 12 months.
How a UAE Bus visa change works
A Bus visa change is an exit and re entry by road. UAE immigration issues the new tourist visa against your Malta passport while you are physically outside the country, so leaving is not optional. You travel by road to Oman, stay on the Omani side while the application is processed, and re enter the UAE with the new 60 day visa. Most travellers complete the round trip within a day, with an optional one day stay in Oman for those who prefer it or whose approval takes longer.
The faster alternative is the airport to airport visa change, which flies you to Muscat, Kuwait or Doha and back within hours for AED 1,550. For Malta citizens who value price over speed, the Bus visa change is the better fit.
Is a Bus visa change available for Malta citizens?
The Bus visa change to Oman is available for selected nationalities, and eligibility depends on both your passport and the visa you currently hold. Message a scan of your Malta passport and existing visa to our WhatsApp and we confirm eligibility for the bus, the flight, or an extension without exit. The service is typically used by:
- Tourist visa holders who have used all their in country extensions. A 30 day visa can be extended three times and a 60 day visa twice, each by 30 days, up to a total stay of 120 days; after that, an exit is required.
- Cancelled residence visa holders who want to stay on as visitors while they find a new job or wrap up their affairs.
- On arrival visa holders who have reached the limit of their stamp.
Do not wait until the last day
An expired visa attracts a fine of AED 50 per day, and that figure is the same for every visa category and every emirate. There is no grace period on tourist and visit visas, so the fine starts the day after expiry. Fines are paid before the trip. Passengers with unpaid overstay charges are stopped at the exit counter. With departures limited to Sunday through Wednesday, Malta passport holders should book 7 to 10 days ahead of expiry.

Bus visa change price for Malta passport holders
Pricing follows your present visa category. Some nationalities may also be asked for a refundable deposit or a surcharge.
- Cancelled residence visa or visa on arrival holders: AED 1,000
- Tourist visa holders: AED 1,300
Both packages include the round trip coach from Dubai, the Oman entry visa, processing of the new UAE tourist visa and all border fees. Most Malta travellers receive a 60 day single entry visa; 30 day availability varies, so confirm with us on WhatsApp. A one day stay in Oman is available as an add on. If you have overstayed, the fine is paid to immigration and is not included in the AED 1,000 or AED 1,300.
A refundable security deposit may apply for some nationalities. It is separate from the package price, it is refunded after you exit the UAE at the end of your stay, and we confirm the amount for Malta passports on WhatsApp before you pay anything.
Payment plans for UAE residents
Residents of the UAE who book on behalf of Malta visitors can use Tabby for up to 12 months, Tamara with extendable repayment, or a UAE credit card with 3, 6, 9 or 12 month terms set by the card issuer. Everyone else is sent a secure payment link online.
Paperwork for a Bus visa change
Send these on WhatsApp and we can usually confirm eligibility within the hour:
- A clear scan of your Malta passport, both the data page and the back cover, with at least six months validity. Missing back covers cause most resubmissions.
- A recent colour photograph, white background, passport dimensions, no glasses.
- The existing tourist visa PDF, the on arrival stamp page, or for cancelled residents the cancellation document.
- Your UAE contact number and the address where you are staying, so we can confirm the pick up point and time.
Depending on nationality, a six month bank statement may be requested. If that applies to Malta applicants, a UAE resident family member can provide theirs instead. We apply for your Oman visa through the official eVisa system in advance, so you do not need to arrange anything with Omani immigration yourself. Bring your original passport and a bank card or cash, as immigration can request proof of funds when you re enter.

What happens on the day
Seven to ten days ahead
We process the Oman visa, secure a seat on the next available Sunday to Wednesday departure and share pick up details on WhatsApp. Any overstay fine should be paid in the GDRFA or ICP app before you travel.
Leaving the UAE
The coach departs Dubai in the morning and travels to the UAE Oman land border. At the UAE exit counter, immigration stamps you out, which formally ends your current visa, and we submit the new UAE visa application the moment your exit registers in the system. You cross into Oman using the eVisa we applied for.
While the visa is processed
Most Malta applications clear within a few hours, and the approved visa reaches your phone as a PDF. Occasionally immigration orders a security check, extending the wait to 24 to 48 hours. The one day stay option exists for exactly this situation. Immigration makes the final call on every application.
Back into the UAE
Once the PDF is in hand, you take the coach back and show the new visa alongside your Malta passport at UAE immigration. The visa clock starts on the date you come back into the UAE. You are back in Dubai that evening, or the following day with the one day stay.
Should Malta travellers take the bus, fly or extend?
An in country extension at AED 1,200 for 30 days is the simplest route if you are still eligible. When you can no longer extend, the Bus visa change at AED 1,000 to 1,300 gives you 60 days for the least money, provided you can spare a day and travel Sunday to Wednesday. The airport to airport visa change costs AED 1,550, flies any day of the week, and returns you to Dubai within six to twelve hours; it suits families, older travellers and anyone who cannot take a full day off.
Why bus visa changes get delayed
- Booking too late. The coach runs Sunday to Wednesday only and seats fill quickly around Eid, December and January, so message us 7 to 10 days ahead.
- Short passport validity, which is rejected at both the Omani and UAE counters.
- Overstay fines still due. Pay them in advance through the GDRFA or ICP app.
- Believing there is a buffer. There is not, and fines start the day after expiry.
- Past visa violations. Be open with us so that we can advise whether a Bus visa change is likely to succeed.
- Travelling without the physical passport. Both borders require the original document.
Questions Malta travellers ask us
How long will I be away from Dubai?
One day is normal. In rare cases a security check pushes approval to 24 to 48 hours, and we arrange the stay in Oman.
What is the Oman visa change by bus price?
From AED 1,000 for cancelled residents and on arrival holders, AED 1,300 for tourist visa holders, with everything included. Deposits, where applicable, are confirmed in advance.
Can I travel on the weekend?
Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday only. Weekend travel is not available, so leave enough time before your expiry date.
What about entry into Oman?
Yes, an Oman entry visa is required, and it is included in the package. We apply for it through the official eVisa system before travel day, so you do not need to arrange anything with Omani immigration yourself.
Does this work after residency cancellation?
Yes, and it is the situation we see most often. Cancelled residents pay AED 1,000 and receive a 60 day tourist visa.
Is there a limit on repeat visa changes?
There is no fixed limit, but every application is assessed on its own and repeated back to back changes attract closer scrutiny. Most of our clients do one or two before moving to a residence visa or leaving the UAE.
Is a refund possible if immigration refuses?
Refusal is rare but final. You would need to travel elsewhere from Oman and the visa fee is retained by the authorities. Our pre check is designed to catch problems early.
Is this an official process?
It is fully legal. The visa is issued by the UAE authorities in the normal way; the only difference is that you are outside the country at the time.
