How a UAE Bus visa change works

A Bus visa change is simply a border run by coach. Immigration only links a new visa to a Philippines passport once the holder has left the UAE, which is why the trip to Oman is essential. The journey runs Dubai to the Oman border by coach, into Oman, then back into the UAE once immigration has approved the new tourist visa. The whole trip takes about one day, and an optional overnight stay in Oman is available if approval runs late.

Travellers in a hurry can choose the airport to airport route instead, a same day flight for AED 1,550. The Bus visa change costs less and suits Philippines visitors who can spare a day and want the cheapest package.

Who from Philippines can use the Bus visa change?

Availability of the Bus visa change depends on the nationality of the passport and the type of visa currently held. Send us a photo of your Philippines passport and current visa on WhatsApp and we will confirm within the hour whether the bus route is open to you, or whether the airport route or an in country extension is the better option. The service is typically used by:

  • Tourist visa holders who have used all their in country extensions. A 30 day visa can be extended three times and a 60 day visa twice, each by 30 days, up to a total stay of 120 days; after that, an exit is required.
  • Residents whose visa was cancelled and who want to convert to a 60 day tourist visa rather than leave the country.
  • On arrival visa holders who have reached the limit of their stamp.

Overstay fines and why you should book early

An expired visa attracts a fine of AED 50 per day, and that figure is the same for every visa category and every emirate. There is no grace period on tourist and visit visas, so the fine starts the day after expiry. Fines are paid before the trip. Passengers with unpaid overstay charges are stopped at the exit counter. Departures are Sunday to Wednesday only, which is why we recommend booking 7 to 10 days in advance.

How much does a Bus visa change to Oman cost?

Our Bus visa change package is priced by the visa you currently hold, not by nationality, although a refundable deposit or surcharge may apply for some passports.

  • Cancelled residence visa or visa on arrival holders: AED 1,000
  • Tourist visa holders: AED 1,300

Included in both: return coach, Oman visa, UAE visa processing and border fees. The standard product is a 60 day single entry UAE tourist visa; ask us on WhatsApp if a 30 day option is available on your travel date. A one day stay in Oman is available as an add on. If you have overstayed, the fine is paid to immigration and is not included in the AED 1,000 or AED 1,300.

For a limited set of nationalities a refundable deposit is requested. It sits apart from the package price, comes back to you after your final exit, and we confirm whether it applies to Philippines citizens before booking.

Pay in instalments

Residents of the UAE who book on behalf of Philippines visitors can use Tabby for up to 12 months, Tamara with extendable repayment, or a UAE credit card with 3, 6, 9 or 12 month terms set by the card issuer. Other travellers pay by a secure online payment link that we send on WhatsApp.

What Philippines citizens need to send us

Send these on WhatsApp and we can usually confirm eligibility within the hour:

  1. Passport scan showing the front page and the back cover, valid for at least six months. A missing back cover is the most common reason an application is returned, so please include both.
  2. One colour passport photo on a plain white background.
  3. Your current visa copy, either the tourist visa you hold, your visa on arrival stamp, or the residence cancellation paper.
  4. Your UAE contact number and the address where you are staying, so we can confirm the pick up point and time.

Depending on nationality, a six month bank statement may be requested. If that applies to Philippines applicants, a UAE resident family member can provide theirs instead. We apply for your Oman visa through the official eVisa system in advance, so you do not need to arrange anything with Omani immigration yourself. Bring your original passport and a bank card or cash, as immigration can request proof of funds when you re enter.

How the trip unfolds for a Philippines passport holder

Before travel

With documents approved and payment cleared, the Oman visa is applied for, the seat is booked and you receive pick up instructions on WhatsApp. Pay any overstay fine via the GDRFA or ICP app in advance.

Leaving the UAE

The coach leaves Dubai early and heads for the Oman border. Once the exit is registered at the UAE counter, we submit the new tourist visa application for your Philippines passport without delay. You clear Omani immigration on the prearranged eVisa.

The approval window

Approval usually takes a few hours, after which you receive the visa PDF on WhatsApp. Should a security check be triggered, expect 24 to 48 hours. We arrange the overnight stay and monitor the status with you. Immigration makes the final call on every application.

The return leg

With the new visa PDF on your phone, you board the return coach and present it with your Philippines passport at the UAE entry counter. The new 60 day visa is activated at entry and starts counting from that day. Return to Dubai is the same day in most cases, or the next day for those who stayed over.

Choosing the right route for a Philippines passport

Before travelling anywhere, check whether you qualify for the AED 1,200 in country extension, which adds 30 days without leaving. With no extension left, the Bus visa change offers the lowest price for a new 60 day visa, if a day on the road and midweek travel suit you. For speed, the airport to airport change at AED 1,550 wins: daily flights and a same day return within six to twelve hours.

Mistakes to avoid on a Bus visa change

  • Booking too late. The coach runs Sunday to Wednesday only and seats fill quickly around Eid, December and January, so message us 7 to 10 days ahead.
  • Passport validity under six months. Renew before you travel, as neither Oman nor UAE immigration will accept a short validity passport.
  • Unpaid overstay fines. Immigration will not let you exit with fines outstanding, so check and pay through the GDRFA or ICP app before travel day.
  • Believing there is a buffer. There is not, and fines start the day after expiry.
  • Previous immigration issues. Old bans, unresolved cases or improperly cancelled visas can affect approval, so tell us about them before you pay.
  • Leaving the passport behind. It must be with you on the coach.
