The meaning of Bus visa change for Ukraine passport holders

A Bus visa change is simply a border run by coach. Immigration only links a new visa to a Ukraine passport once the holder has left the UAE, which is why the trip to Oman is essential. The journey runs Dubai to the Oman border by coach, into Oman, then back into the UAE once immigration has approved the new tourist visa. The standard trip is one day; an extra day in Oman can be added when needed.

The air option, a flydubai rotation to a nearby GCC airport, is quicker at six to twelve hours but costs AED 1,550. The coach route is the more affordable choice for Ukraine passport holders with a free day and a tight budget.

Who qualifies

Not every passport can use the land border route; eligibility is set by nationality and by your current visa status. We check the position for Ukraine passports on WhatsApp before you pay anything and advise the best route: bus, flight or extension. Typical Ukraine applicants are:

  • Tourist visa holders whose extensions are exhausted, three for a 30 day visa and two for a 60 day visa, with 120 days as the overall limit.
  • Cancelled residence visa holders who want to stay on as visitors while they find a new job or wrap up their affairs.
  • Travellers who entered on a visa on arrival and want a new tourist visa without flying home.

Overstay fines and why you should book early

UAE authorities charge AED 50 for every day a visit visa remains expired, and the same flat rate applies across all visa types and emirates. Tourist and visit visas carry no grace period, which means fines begin immediately after the expiry date. Any overstay fine is settled before departure, since immigration will not clear you to exit with fines outstanding. With departures limited to Sunday through Wednesday, Ukraine passport holders should book 7 to 10 days ahead of expiry.

How much does a Bus visa change to Oman cost?

Our Bus visa change package is priced by the visa you currently hold, not by nationality, although a refundable deposit or surcharge may apply for some passports.

  • Cancelled residence visa or visa on arrival holders: AED 1,000
  • Existing tourist visa: AED 1,300

Included in both: return coach, Oman visa, UAE visa processing and border fees. We issue a 60 day single entry visa as standard. A 30 day version is sometimes available, so ask us when you book. A one day stay in Oman is available as an add on. Any overstay fine is settled by you with immigration and is separate from our fee.

For a limited set of nationalities a refundable deposit is requested. It sits apart from the package price, comes back to you after your final exit, and we confirm whether it applies to Ukraine citizens before booking.

Spread the cost

For UAE residents sponsoring a Ukraine family member or friend, the package can be split with Tabby up to 12 months, Tamara on extendable terms, or a UAE credit card over 3, 6, 9 or 12 months according to the bank. All other applicants receive a secure online payment link.

What Ukraine citizens need to send us

WhatsApp us the following and expect an eligibility answer within about an hour:

  1. A clear scan of your Ukraine passport, both the data page and the back cover, with at least six months validity. Missing back covers cause most resubmissions.
  2. A recent colour photograph, white background, passport dimensions, no glasses.
  3. Your current visa copy, either the tourist visa you hold, your visa on arrival stamp, or the residence cancellation paper.
  4. A reachable UAE number and address so we can share pick up instructions.

A bank statement covering six months is required for certain passports. Where Ukraine citizens are affected, the statement of a family member living in the UAE is accepted. Your Oman entry visa is applied for by us through the official eVisa portal before travel day. On travel day, have the physical passport and some means of payment with you in case proof of funds is requested at the border.

How the trip unfolds for a Ukraine passport holder

Before travel

We process the Oman visa, secure a seat on the next available Sunday to Wednesday departure and share pick up details on WhatsApp. Any overstay fine should be paid in the GDRFA or ICP app before you travel.

The outbound leg

You board the coach in Dubai in the morning for the drive to the Oman crossing. Immigration records your exit at the UAE side, closing the old visa, and we file the new visa application immediately after. With the exit complete, you enter Oman on the visa we prepared.

While the visa is processed

In standard cases the visa is granted the same day and we forward the PDF on WhatsApp. A small number of applications go to security check, which can add 24 to 48 hours. In that case the optional overnight stay covers you, and we keep you updated throughout. Immigration makes the final call on every application.

The return leg

Holding the approved visa, you re enter the UAE on the return coach and clear immigration with the PDF and your passport. Validity runs for 60 days from your re entry date. The trip ends in Dubai the same evening unless you added the overnight stay.

Bus versus airport versus extension

An in country extension at AED 1,200 for 30 days is the simplest route if you are still eligible. After extensions run out, the bus is the most affordable route to a fresh 60 day visa, with the trade off of a longer day and a limited departure schedule. The air route at AED 1,550 runs every day and takes six to twelve hours, which makes it the better choice for families, seniors and busy professionals.

Mistakes to avoid on a Bus visa change

  • Late bookings. Limited departure days mean seats disappear fast in busy seasons, so start early.
  • Passport validity under six months. Renew before you travel, as neither Oman nor UAE immigration will accept a short validity passport.
  • Unpaid overstay fines. Immigration will not let you exit with fines outstanding, so check and pay through the GDRFA or ICP app before travel day.
  • Assuming a grace period. There is none, so a visa expiring on the 10th must be extended or exited by the 10th.
  • Previous immigration issues. Old bans, unresolved cases or improperly cancelled visas can affect approval, so tell us about them before you pay.
  • Forgetting the original passport. Photocopies are not accepted at either border; the physical Ukraine passport must travel with you.

Answers for Ukraine citizens

How many hours does the bus trip take?

Plan for a full day. Most Ukraine travellers return the same evening; a security review can add 24 to 48 hours and an overnight stay.

How much is the bus package?

AED 1,000 or AED 1,300 depending on your current visa, all in. The price covers transport both ways, the Oman visa, the new UAE visa and border charges. We confirm any deposit for Ukraine citizens before booking.

What is the schedule?

The service runs Sunday to Wednesday only. There are no Thursday, Friday or Saturday departures, which is why we ask Ukraine travellers to book 7 to 10 days before the visa expires.

Do Ukraine passport holders need an Oman visa for the trip?

An Oman visa is needed and is part of the package price. Our team applies through the official eVisa portal in advance.

My residency was cancelled. Can I take the bus?

Yes, and it is the situation we see most often. Cancelled residents pay AED 1,000 and receive a 60 day tourist visa.

How many times can a Ukraine citizen do a Bus visa change?

There is no fixed limit, but every application is assessed on its own and repeated back to back changes attract closer scrutiny. Most of our clients do one or two before moving to a residence visa or leaving the UAE.

What if immigration declines the application?

Rejection is uncommon. Should it happen, you would need to fly on from Oman to your home country or another destination, and the visa fee is not refundable as it is a government charge. We flag risks before booking.

Is it lawful to do this?

It is fully legal. The visa is issued by the UAE authorities in the normal way; the only difference is that you are outside the country at the time.
