A a2a visa change is the fastest lawful way for China passport holders to receive a new 60 day UAE tourist visa when the visa they currently hold can no longer be extended. Our team books the flight, lodges the visa application at the right moment and guides you on WhatsApp through every stage of the day.
Short version: AED 1,550, one flydubai return flight, one new 60 day single entry tourist visa, and a typical turnaround of six to twelve hours for China citizens doing a a2a visa change.
Looking to extend your stay in the UAE?
Let White Sky Travel help you process an airport visa change from a tourist visa, cancelled residence visa, or current visa on-arrival.
a2a visa change explained for China travellers
A a2a visa change is an exit and re entry. The rule is that the applicant, in this case a China passport holder, must be abroad when the new visa is processed. Air travel is the most efficient way to complete the exit. The typical route runs from Dubai International Terminal 2 to Muscat, Kuwait or Doha, with a return the same day.
There is also a bus option to Oman, but it takes a full day or more and includes an overnight stay. Flying is the more expensive choice, but it is faster and far more comfortable for China families, older passengers and busy professionals.
When China passport holders need a a2a visa change
A a2a visa change is a fallback, because the UAE allows visit visa extension without exit in many cases. Here is when it becomes the right choice for a China passport holder:
- You have reached the 120 day ceiling after extending a 30 day visa three times or a 60 day visa twice.
- Your residency was cancelled and you need more time in the UAE. The only route is a new tourist visa, which a a2a visa change provides.
- Your visa has already expired. Extensions must be filed before expiry, so once the date has passed the practical solution is to settle the fine and exit through a a2a visa change.
- You hold a permit that is not extendable from inside the UAE. Send us a photo of your visa on WhatsApp and we will advise the correct route for a China passport.
Overstay fines and why you should book early
An expired visa attracts a fine of AED 50 per day, and that figure is the same for every visa category and every emirate. Visitors do not receive any grace days, and the fine runs from the first day of overstay. Overstays beyond 30 days also require an exit permit, usually AED 250 to 300, on top of the daily fine. The price does not change with urgency, which is why we suggest starting the process with at least 10 to 15 days remaining.

a2a visa change cost from Dubai for China citizens
At White Sky Travel a a2a visa change costs AED 1,550 and includes the flydubai return ticket and a 60 day single entry tourist visa. You pay the same figure for a tourist to tourist change and for a residence cancellation conversion. Included are the ticket, the visa processing and our WhatsApp guidance from booking to entry.
- Visa issued: 60 day single entry UAE tourist visa
- Ticket: flydubai return from Dubai International Terminal 2 to a nearby GCC airport
- Processing: visa applied while you are outside the UAE and sent to your WhatsApp as a PDF
- Support: our consultants on WhatsApp from booking until you clear immigration
- Fee: AED 1,550 per adult traveller
There is no 30 day version of our a2a visa change. The 30 day visa costs almost as much and delivers half the stay, so the 60 day package is the sensible option. An AED 100 supplement applies to certain passports that need extra processing time. Ask us whether China is on that list before you book. Overstay fines, if any, are paid by the traveller at the immigration desk before departure and are not part of the package.
For a limited set of nationalities a refundable deposit is requested. It sits apart from the AED 1,550, comes back to you after your final exit, and we confirm whether it applies to China citizens before booking.
Spread the cost
Residents of the UAE who book on behalf of China visitors can use Tabby for up to 12 months, Tamara with extendable repayment, or a UAE credit card with 3, 6, 9 or 12 month terms set by the card issuer. Other travellers pay by a secure online payment link that we send on WhatsApp.
Documents required for a China passport
Send these on WhatsApp and we can usually confirm eligibility within the hour:
- A clear scan of your China passport, both the data page and the back cover. Missing back covers cause most resubmissions.
- Six months minimum validity from your flight date, two blank pages, and a passport in clean condition.
- One colour passport photo on a plain white background, no more than six months old.
- Your current visa copy, either the tourist visa you hold or the residence cancellation paper.
A bank statement covering six months is required for certain passports. Where China citizens are affected, the statement of a family member living in the UAE is accepted. On arrival, immigration may request evidence of funds, so have a bank card or cash to hand. Before the flight we will send you a link to the guarantee form at applyvisa.app, which takes a few minutes to complete.
How the day unfolds for a China passport holder
The day before you fly
We lock in the flight, forward the ticket on WhatsApp and check that any outstanding fines have been paid online. Travellers whose visa is still valid pay nothing at immigration. Avoid Fridays. If a security check is triggered on a Friday, approval may slip past the weekend when offices are closed.
Departure from Dubai
Arrive at Dubai International Terminal 2 around five hours before departure, check in at the flydubai counter and collect both boarding passes. Photograph both passes and send them to us on WhatsApp. Your exit stamp ends the current visa, and we lodge the fresh visa the instant the exit appears in the system.
The waiting period
The hop to Muscat, Kuwait or Doha takes close to an hour. Because you do not leave the airport, China passport holders need no visa for the transit country. Approval usually arrives within hours, and you receive the visa PDF on WhatsApp. Should a security check be triggered, expect 24 to 48 hours. The airline lets you wait airside and we stay on WhatsApp until the visa is issued.
Returning to Dubai
If we have already sent the PDF, go straight to the eGate at Terminal 2. Should the visa still be pending on landing, avoid the eGate, use the manual counters and wait in the Terminal 2 holding area until we confirm. The visa clock starts on the date of re entry.
Should China travellers extend, fly or take the bus?
If you still have an in country extension available, use it first; a 30 day extension without exit costs AED 1,200 and needs no travel. A a2a visa change becomes the right choice the moment extension is no longer possible, and it delivers 60 days rather than 30 for AED 1,550. The Dubai to Oman bus is the budget option, starting from AED 1,000 for cancelled residents and AED 1,400 to 1,500 for visit visa holders, but it takes one to two days with an overnight stay. For the majority of travellers from China, the a2a visa change is the more comfortable and predictable route.

What can go wrong and how to avoid it
- Leaving it to the last minute. Seats disappear around Eid, December and January, so contact us a week or more in advance.
- Less than six months on the passport. Immigration will not approve a visa in that case, so renew first.
- Mismatched names between ticket and passport, which airlines and immigration treat seriously.
- Overstay fines still due. Pay them in advance through the GDRFA or ICP app.
- Believing there is a buffer. There is not, and fines start the day after expiry.
- Previous immigration issues. Old bans, unresolved cases or improperly cancelled visas can affect approval, so tell us about them before you pay.
Frequently asked questions about a2a visa change for China passport
How long will I be away from Dubai?
Six to twelve hours is normal. Security checks occasionally push it to 24 to 48 hours, and you can wait at the airport throughout.
How often can I repeat a a2a visa change?
There is no fixed limit, but every application is assessed on its own and repeated back to back changes attract closer scrutiny. Most of our clients do one or two before moving to a residence visa or leaving the UAE.
My residency was cancelled. Can I still apply?
Absolutely. Cancelled residents from China are converted to a 60 day tourist visa through a a2a visa change at the standard AED 1,550.
What is the destination?
We book flydubai to Muscat, Kuwait or Doha based on seat availability. Each is a short flight with a same day return.
Do I need a visa for Oman, Kuwait or Qatar?
Not for a same day return. You do not enter Oman, Kuwait or Qatar; you stay in transit.
Can I bring my family?
Certainly. Every family member, including children, needs a ticket and visa, and we arrange all of them together.
What happens on rejection?
Refusal is rare but final. You would need to travel elsewhere and the visa fee is retained by the authorities. Our pre check is designed to catch problems early.
Is a a2a visa change legal?
Yes. You leave on the current visa and return on a new one granted by UAE immigration. Using a licensed agency keeps the application within official channels.
