If you hold a Colombia passport and your UAE visit visa is close to expiry, a a2a visa change is the quickest legal route to a fresh 60 day tourist visa. Our team books the flight, lodges the visa application at the right moment and guides you on WhatsApp through every stage of the day.
The essentials for Colombia passport holders: AED 1,550 all in, a same day flydubai rotation from Dubai Terminal 2, and a 60 day single entry visa issued while you wait at the transit airport.
Looking to extend your stay in the UAE?
Let White Sky Travel help you process an airport visa change from a tourist visa, cancelled residence visa, or current visa on-arrival.
What is a a2a visa change?
At its core, a a2a visa change is a short trip out of the country so that a new visa can be issued. UAE immigration issues the new tourist visa against your Colombia passport while you are physically outside the country, so leaving is not optional. Air travel is the most efficient way to complete the exit. From Dubai you would normally fly to Muscat, Kuwait City or Doha and return to Terminal 2 within six to twelve hours.
Some visitors choose the Oman bus route instead, though it is slower and involves sleeping near the border crossing. Although a a2a visa change is dearer than the bus option, the time saved makes it the sensible choice for most Colombia visitors.
Who from Colombia needs a a2a visa change?
A a2a visa change is a fallback, because the UAE allows visit visa extension without exit in many cases. For Colombia citizens, the following circumstances call for a a2a visa change:
- Your extensions are exhausted: three for a 30 day visa, two for a 60 day visa, with 120 days as the overall limit.
- Your UAE residence visa has been cancelled. A cancelled residency cannot be extended, so we convert your status to a 60 day tourist visa through a a2a visa change.
- The expiry date has passed. Extension is no longer possible, so a a2a visa change after paying any fine is the way forward.
- You entered on a visa type that cannot be extended in country, such as certain on arrival stamps or multiple entry permits. Message us on WhatsApp and we will confirm which category your Colombia passport falls under.
Overstay fines and why you should book early
UAE authorities charge AED 50 for every day a visit visa remains expired, and the same flat rate applies across all visa types and emirates. There is no grace period on tourist and visit visas, so the fine starts the day after expiry. If the overstay passes 30 days, an additional exit permit costing about AED 250 to 300 is required. Booking early costs nothing extra, so we advise Colombia travellers to message us with 10 to 15 days left on the current visa.

a2a visa change cost from Dubai for Colombia citizens
The package for Colombia passport holders is straightforward: AED 1,550 for a 60 day single entry visa and the return flight on flydubai. There is one rate for both tourist visa renewals and residence cancellation cases. Included are the ticket, the visa processing and our WhatsApp guidance from booking to entry.
- Visa type: 60 days, single entry
- Airline: flydubai, departing and returning at Dubai Terminal 2
- How you get it: a PDF copy on WhatsApp while you wait at the transit airport
- Support: our consultants on WhatsApp from booking until you clear immigration
- Rate: AED 1,550 per person
There is no 30 day version of our a2a visa change. The 30 day visa costs almost as much and delivers half the stay, so the 60 day package is the sensible option. Some nationalities carry an AED 100 surcharge for extended processing; we confirm on WhatsApp whether this applies to Colombia citizens. Fines for overstaying are cleared by the passenger at the airport and sit outside the package price.
Some Colombia applicants may need to place a refundable security deposit. It is independent of the visa price, is returned after you exit the country, and we state the amount clearly on WhatsApp first.
Instalment options
Residents of the UAE who book on behalf of Colombia visitors can use Tabby for up to 12 months, Tamara with extendable repayment, or a UAE credit card with 3, 6, 9 or 12 month terms set by the card issuer. Everyone else is sent a secure payment link online.
Documents required for a Colombia passport
WhatsApp us the following and expect an eligibility answer within about an hour:
- Front page and back cover of the passport. Applications are most frequently sent back because the back cover was left out.
- A passport valid for six months or more from the date of travel, in good condition with two blank pages.
- A colour passport size photo on a white background, taken within the last six months, without glasses.
- The existing tourist visa PDF or, for cancelled residents, the cancellation document.
Some nationalities may be asked for a six month bank statement, and where that applies to a Colombia passport a UAE based family member’s statement can be submitted on your behalf. Please also carry a card or some cash on the return flight, since immigration can ask arriving visitors to show proof of funds. One more step: fill in the guarantee form at applyvisa.app a few days before you fly.
What happens on the day
The day before you fly
After verification we book flydubai, send your ticket and confirm that you have no unpaid fines on the GDRFA or ICP system. If you are within your visa validity, the airport stage costs nothing extra. Book for Monday to Thursday if you can, as a Friday delay can stretch over the weekend.
At the airport
Arrive at Dubai International Terminal 2 around five hours before departure, check in at the flydubai counter and collect both boarding passes. Send us a picture of each boarding pass on WhatsApp straight away. Your exit stamp ends the current visa, and we lodge the fresh visa the instant the exit appears in the system.
In Muscat, Kuwait or Doha
The hop to Muscat, Kuwait or Doha takes close to an hour. You remain in the transit area and do not need to clear immigration in Oman, Kuwait or Qatar for a same day return. Approval usually arrives within hours, and you receive the visa PDF on WhatsApp. Should a security check be triggered, expect 24 to 48 hours. The airline lets you wait airside and we stay on WhatsApp until the visa is issued.
Arrival at Terminal 2
Once you have the PDF from us, you can use the eGate at Terminal 2 for a quick entry. If the visa is still processing when you land, do not use the eGate; go to a manual immigration counter and wait in the designated area until we confirm approval. The new 60 day visa starts counting from the day you re enter.
Choosing between a a2a visa change, extension and the Oman bus
An in country extension at AED 1,200 for 30 days is the simplest route if you are still eligible. When you can no longer extend, a a2a visa change provides twice the stay of an extension for AED 1,550. The bus visa change is cheaper, beginning at AED 1,000 for cancelled residents and AED 1,400 to 1,500 for tourist visa holders, but it needs one to two days and an overnight stop. For the majority of travellers from Colombia, the a2a visa change is the more comfortable and predictable route.

Common problems for Colombia applicants and how we prevent them
- Leaving it to the last minute. Seats disappear around Eid, December and January, so contact us a week or more in advance.
- Less than six months on the passport. Immigration will not approve a visa in that case, so renew first.
- Spelling differences. Ticket and passport names must be identical, middle names included.
- Overstay fines still due. Pay them in advance through the GDRFA or ICP app.
- Assuming a grace period. There is none, so a visa expiring on the 10th must be extended or exited by the 10th.
- Previous immigration issues. Old bans, unresolved cases or improperly cancelled visas can affect approval, so tell us about them before you pay.
Colombia passport a2a visa change FAQ
How long will I be away from Dubai?
Six to twelve hours is normal. Security checks occasionally push it to 24 to 48 hours, and you can wait at the airport throughout.
How often can I repeat a a2a visa change?
There is no fixed limit, but every application is assessed on its own and repeated back to back changes attract closer scrutiny. Most of our clients do one or two before moving to a residence visa or leaving the UAE.
My residency was cancelled. Can I still apply?
Yes. Send the cancellation document and we handle the change to a 60 day tourist visa for the same flat price.
What is the destination?
We book flydubai to Muscat, Kuwait or Doha based on seat availability. Each is a short flight with a same day return.
Is a transit visa required?
Not for a same day return. You do not enter Oman, Kuwait or Qatar; you stay in transit.
What about children on Colombia passports?
Yes. WhatsApp us all the passports and we will send one price for the family.
Is a refund possible if immigration refuses?
Very few applications are refused. If yours is, the return to Dubai is not possible and onward travel is required. Government visa fees cannot be refunded, so we review your history carefully first.
Is a a2a visa change legal?
It is fully legal. The visa is issued by the UAE authorities in the normal way; the only difference is that you are outside the country at the time.
