Returning to Dubai

A2A versus extension versus bus

Where an extension is still possible, take it: the in country option costs AED 1,200 for 30 days and requires no flight. A a2a visa change steps in when extension ends, and it gives 60 days instead of 30. The bus visa change is cheaper, beginning at AED 1,000 for cancelled residents and AED 1,400 to 1,500 for tourist visa holders, but it needs one to two days and an overnight stop. For most Dominican Republic visitors the flight is the better balance of time, comfort and certainty.

What can go wrong and how to avoid it

• Leaving it to the last minute. Seats disappear around Eid, December and January, so contact us a week or more in advance.
