- Book your a2a visa change with White Sky Travel
If you hold a Ireland passport and your UAE visit visa is close to expiry, a a2a visa change is the quickest legal route to a fresh 60 day tourist visa. Our team books the flight, lodges the visa application at the right moment and guides you on WhatsApp through every stage of the day.
The essentials for Ireland passport holders: AED 1,550 all in, a same day flydubai rotation from Dubai Terminal 2, and a 60 day single entry visa issued while you wait at the transit airport.
Looking to extend your stay in the UAE?
Let White Sky Travel help you process an airport visa change from a tourist visa, cancelled residence visa, or current visa on-arrival.
What is a a2a visa change?
A a2a visa change is an exit and re entry. Because the new permit can only be granted to someone who is outside the UAE, Ireland citizens must exit before the visa is approved. A short flight is the quickest way to meet that condition. From Dubai you would normally fly to Muscat, Kuwait City or Doha and return to Terminal 2 within six to twelve hours.
A bus visa change through Oman exists as well, but it costs a night away and a much longer day. Although a a2a visa change is dearer than the bus option, the time saved makes it the sensible choice for most Ireland visitors.
Situations where Ireland citizens need a a2a visa change
Most 30 day and 60 day UAE visit visas can now be extended from inside the country, so a a2a visa change is not always necessary. For Ireland citizens, the following circumstances call for a a2a visa change:
- Your extensions are exhausted: three for a 30 day visa, two for a 60 day visa, with 120 days as the overall limit.
- Your UAE residence visa has been cancelled. A cancelled residency cannot be extended, so we convert your status to a 60 day tourist visa through a a2a visa change.
- Your visa has already expired. Extensions must be filed before expiry, so once the date has passed the practical solution is to settle the fine and exit through a a2a visa change.
- Your visa category is not eligible for extension. We check this for Ireland citizens on WhatsApp before you spend anything.
Overstay fines and why you should book early
The overstay fine in the UAE is AED 50 per day, applied uniformly to tourist, visit and residence visas in every emirate. No grace period applies to visit visas, so the counter starts the very next day. After 30 days of overstay, an exit permit of roughly AED 250 to 300 becomes necessary as well. Booking early costs nothing extra, so we advise Ireland travellers to message us with 10 to 15 days left on the current visa.

a2a visa change price for Ireland passport holders
Our a2a visa change package is a 60 day single entry UAE tourist visa plus a flydubai return flight, priced at AED 1,550. The price is the same whether you are changing from a tourist visa or converting a cancelled residence visa. Included are the ticket, the visa processing and our WhatsApp guidance from booking to entry.
- New UAE tourist visa: 60 days, single entry
- Ticket: flydubai return from Dubai International Terminal 2 to a nearby GCC airport
- Processing: visa applied while you are outside the UAE and sent to your WhatsApp as a PDF
- Support: our consultants on WhatsApp from booking until you clear immigration
- Rate: AED 1,550 per person
A 30 day a2a visa change is not available through us because the processing cost is similar and the value is poorer than the 60 day visa. An AED 100 supplement applies to certain passports that need extra processing time. Ask us whether Ireland is on that list before you book. Any overstay fine is settled by you at immigration before you fly and is separate from our fee.
For a limited set of nationalities a refundable deposit is requested. It sits apart from the AED 1,550, comes back to you after your final exit, and we confirm whether it applies to Ireland citizens before booking.
Payment plans for UAE residents
For UAE residents sponsoring a Ireland family member or friend, the AED 1,550 can be split with Tabby up to 12 months, Tamara on extendable terms, or a UAE credit card over 3, 6, 9 or 12 months according to the bank. Everyone else is sent a secure payment link online.
Paperwork for a a2a visa change
WhatsApp us the following and expect an eligibility answer within about an hour:
- Passport scan showing the front page and the back cover. A missing back cover is the most common reason an application is returned, so please include both.
- A passport valid for six months or more from the date of travel, in good condition with two blank pages.
- A colour passport size photo on a white background, taken within the last six months, without glasses.
- Whatever permit you currently hold: the tourist visa copy or the residence cancellation paper.
A bank statement covering six months is required for certain passports. Where Ireland citizens are affected, the statement of a family member living in the UAE is accepted. Please also carry a card or some cash on the return flight, since immigration can ask arriving visitors to show proof of funds. We also ask you to complete the short guarantee form at applyvisa.app before travel day.
a2a visa change step by step for Ireland travellers
Three to five days ahead
After verification we book flydubai, send your ticket and confirm that you have no unpaid fines on the GDRFA or ICP system. If your visa has not expired, there is nothing to pay at the airport. Choose a Monday to Thursday departure. Friday flights carry a risk of weekend delays, since Saturday and Sunday are non working days for government offices.
Departure from Dubai
Arrive at Dubai International Terminal 2 around five hours before departure, check in at the flydubai counter and collect both boarding passes. Photograph both passes and send them to us on WhatsApp. Once immigration records your exit, your old visa closes and we file the new application immediately.
The waiting period
You will be in the air for about an hour. Because you do not leave the airport, Ireland passport holders need no visa for the transit country. Typically the visa is granted in a few hours and we forward the PDF while you are still at the transit airport. Should a security check be triggered, expect 24 to 48 hours. The airline lets you wait airside and we stay on WhatsApp until the visa is issued.
Arrival at Terminal 2
If we have already sent the PDF, go straight to the eGate at Terminal 2. If the visa is still processing when you land, do not use the eGate; go to a manual immigration counter and wait in the designated area until we confirm approval. Your 60 days begin on the entry date.
a2a visa change compared with other options
If you still have an in country extension available, use it first; a 30 day extension without exit costs AED 1,200 and needs no travel. When you can no longer extend, a a2a visa change provides twice the stay of an extension for AED 1,550. The bus to Oman costs less, from AED 1,000 for residence cancellation and AED 1,400 to 1,500 for visit visa holders, but it takes a day or two and includes a night away. For most Ireland visitors the flight is the better balance of time, comfort and certainty.

Why applications get delayed
- Leaving it to the last minute. Seats disappear around Eid, December and January, so contact us a week or more in advance.
- Short passport validity. Applications on passports with under six months remaining are refused.
- Mismatched names between ticket and passport, which airlines and immigration treat seriously.
- Outstanding fines. Clear them in the GDRFA or ICP app before travel, or you will be stopped at immigration.
- Believing there is a buffer. There is not, and fines start the day after expiry.
- Past visa violations. Be open with us so that we can advise whether a a2a visa change is likely to succeed.
Answers for Ireland citizens
How long does a a2a visa change take for a Ireland passport?
Six to twelve hours is normal. Security checks occasionally push it to 24 to 48 hours, and you can wait at the airport throughout.
How many times can a Ireland citizen do a a2a visa change?
The rules set no maximum, but each new visa is a fresh decision by immigration, and consecutive changes are looked at more carefully.
Does this work after residency cancellation?
Absolutely. Cancelled residents from Ireland are converted to a 60 day tourist visa through a a2a visa change at the standard AED 1,550.
Which country will I transit through?
Muscat, Kuwait City or Doha, depending on flydubai availability on your chosen date. All are under two hours from Dubai and support a same day return.
Do I need a visa for Oman, Kuwait or Qatar?
No visa is required because you never clear immigration in the transit country.
Is there a family option?
Yes. Each child needs their own ticket and visa. Send us the family’s passports on WhatsApp and we will quote for the group.
What if my visa is not approved?
Very few applications are refused. If yours is, the return to Dubai is not possible and onward travel is required. Government visa fees cannot be refunded, so we review your history carefully first.
Are visa changes by air allowed?
It is fully legal. The visa is issued by the UAE authorities in the normal way; the only difference is that you are outside the country at the time.
