a2a visa change for Iraq passport

For travellers from Iraq, a a2a visa change means leaving the UAE on a short flight and coming back the same day with a brand new 60 day tourist visa. Our team books the flight, lodges the visa application at the right moment and guides you on WhatsApp through every stage of the day.

The essentials for Iraq passport holders: AED 1,550 all in, a same day flydubai rotation from Dubai Terminal 2, and a 60 day single entry visa issued while you wait at the transit airport.

Looking to extend your stay in the UAE?

Let White Sky Travel help you process an airport visa change from a tourist visa, cancelled residence visa, or current visa on-arrival.

The meaning of a2a visa change for Iraq passport holders

A a2a visa change is simply a controlled exit followed by a fresh entry. UAE immigration issues the new tourist visa against your Iraq passport while you are physically outside the country, so leaving is not optional. A flydubai rotation to a nearby GCC airport is the fastest way to do it. The usual routing from Dubai is to Muscat, Kuwait City or Doha, and most travellers are back in the arrivals hall at Terminal 2 within six to twelve hours of departure.

A bus visa change through Oman exists as well, but it costs a night away and a much longer day. Although a a2a visa change is dearer than the bus option, the time saved makes it the sensible choice for most Iraq visitors.

Is a a2a visa change the right option for you?

Most 30 day and 60 day UAE visit visas can now be extended from inside the country, so a a2a visa change is not always necessary. These are the situations where Iraq travellers should book one:

  • Your extensions are exhausted: three for a 30 day visa, two for a 60 day visa, with 120 days as the overall limit.
  • Your residency was cancelled and you need more time in the UAE. The only route is a new tourist visa, which a a2a visa change provides.
  • Your visa expired before you applied for an extension. In that case you pay the overstay fine and exit on a a2a visa change.
  • You entered on a visa type that cannot be extended in country, such as certain on arrival stamps or multiple entry permits. Message us on WhatsApp and we will confirm which category your Iraq passport falls under.

The 2026 rule every Iraq visitor should know

Every day past expiry costs AED 50 in fines, whichever emirate issued the visa and whichever visa type you hold. Tourist and visit visas carry no grace period, which means fines begin immediately after the expiry date. Anyone who overstays by more than 30 days also needs an exit permit, typically AED 250 to 300, before they can leave. A a2a visa change booked ten days before expiry costs exactly the same as one booked on the last day, so we recommend contacting us when you still have 10 to 15 days remaining.

How much does a a2a visa change cost?

At White Sky Travel a a2a visa change costs AED 1,550 and includes the flydubai return ticket and a 60 day single entry tourist visa. There is one rate for both tourist visa renewals and residence cancellation cases. Included are the ticket, the visa processing and our WhatsApp guidance from booking to entry.

  • New UAE tourist visa: 60 days, single entry
  • Airline: flydubai, departing and returning at Dubai Terminal 2
  • Processing: visa applied while you are outside the UAE and sent to your WhatsApp as a PDF
  • Help: a dedicated consultant on WhatsApp for the whole process
  • Rate: AED 1,550 per person

We only sell the 60 day a2a visa change, since a 30 day visa would cost nearly as much for half the validity. A few nationalities pay an additional AED 100 for longer processing. We check the position for Iraq passports and tell you upfront. Overstay fines, if any, are paid by the traveller at the immigration desk before departure and are not part of the package.

A refundable security deposit may apply for some nationalities. It is separate from the visa price, it is returned after you exit the UAE at the end of your stay, and we confirm the amount for Iraq passports on WhatsApp before you pay anything.

Instalment options

Residents of the UAE who book on behalf of Iraq visitors can use Tabby for up to 12 months, Tamara with extendable repayment, or a UAE credit card with 3, 6, 9 or 12 month terms set by the card issuer. Other travellers pay by a secure online payment link that we send on WhatsApp.

a2a visa change documents for Iraq passport holders

Send these on WhatsApp and we can usually confirm eligibility within the hour:

  1. Passport scan showing the front page and the back cover. A missing back cover is the most common reason an application is returned, so please include both.
  2. Six months minimum validity from your flight date, two blank pages, and a passport in clean condition.
  3. One colour passport photo on a plain white background, no more than six months old.
  4. Whatever permit you currently hold: the tourist visa copy or the residence cancellation paper.

Bank statement requirements depend on nationality. Should Iraq be one of the passports that needs one, a relative in the UAE can submit their own statement for you. Bear in mind that immigration officers sometimes ask arriving passengers to show they can fund their stay, so keep a card or cash accessible. One more step: fill in the guarantee form at applyvisa.app a few days before you fly.

a2a visa change step by step for Iraq travellers

Before travel

We lock in the flight, forward the ticket on WhatsApp and check that any outstanding fines have been paid online. If your visa has not expired, there is nothing to pay at the airport. Book for Monday to Thursday if you can, as a Friday delay can stretch over the weekend.

Leaving the UAE

Get to Terminal 2 five hours ahead, complete flydubai check in and take both boarding passes. WhatsApp us photos of both boarding passes before you go through immigration. Immigration then stamps you out, which formally ends your current visa, and the moment your exit registers we submit your new visa application.

At the transit airport

The flight takes around one hour. Because you do not leave the airport, Iraq passport holders need no visa for the transit country. Approval usually arrives within hours, and you receive the visa PDF on WhatsApp. Occasionally immigration orders a security check, extending the wait to 24 to 48 hours. You can remain at the airport and we will monitor the status with you.

Arrival at Terminal 2

If we have already sent the PDF, go straight to the eGate at Terminal 2. If the visa is still processing when you land, do not use the eGate; go to a manual immigration counter and wait in the designated area until we confirm approval. Your 60 days begin on the entry date.

Choosing between a a2a visa change, extension and the Oman bus

If you still have an in country extension available, use it first; a 30 day extension without exit costs AED 1,200 and needs no travel. When you can no longer extend, a a2a visa change provides twice the stay of an extension for AED 1,550. The Dubai to Oman bus is the budget option, starting from AED 1,000 for cancelled residents and AED 1,400 to 1,500 for visit visa holders, but it takes one to two days with an overnight stay. On balance, Iraq citizens usually prefer the a2a visa change for its speed and comfort.

Common problems for Iraq applicants and how we prevent them

  • Late bookings. Demand spikes at Eid, in December and in January, so start early.
  • Short passport validity. Applications on passports with under six months remaining are refused.
  • Ticket name errors. We need the full name exactly as printed in the Iraq passport.
  • Unpaid fines. Immigration will not let you board with outstanding overstay fines, so check and pay through the GDRFA or ICP app before you reach the airport.
  • Assuming a grace period. There is none, so a visa expiring on the 10th must be extended or exited by the 10th.
  • Previous immigration issues. Old bans, unresolved cases or improperly cancelled visas can affect approval, so tell us about them before you pay.

Questions Iraq travellers ask us

How long does a a2a visa change take for a Iraq passport?

Most Iraq travellers are back within six to twelve hours. A security check can extend this to 24 to 48 hours, during which you may wait at the airport.

Is there a limit on repeat visa changes?

There is no fixed limit, but every application is assessed on its own and repeated back to back changes attract closer scrutiny. Most of our clients do one or two before moving to a residence visa or leaving the UAE.

Is a a2a visa change possible for cancelled residents?

Yes. Send the cancellation document and we handle the change to a 60 day tourist visa for the same flat price.

What is the destination?

We book flydubai to Muscat, Kuwait or Doha based on seat availability. Each is a short flight with a same day return.

Is a transit visa required?

No. You remain airside at the transit airport, so no visa for that country is needed.

Is there a family option?

Yes. WhatsApp us all the passports and we will send one price for the family.

What happens on rejection?

Very few applications are refused. If yours is, the return to Dubai is not possible and onward travel is required. Government visa fees cannot be refunded, so we review your history carefully first.

Are visa changes by air allowed?

Yes, completely. It follows standard immigration procedure, and a licensed agency such as ours submits the application through the proper system.
