A a2a visa change is the fastest lawful way for Laos passport holders to receive a new 60 day UAE tourist visa when the visa they currently hold can no longer be extended. Our team books the flight, lodges the visa application at the right moment and guides you on WhatsApp through every stage of the day.
Short version: AED 1,550, one flydubai return flight, one new 60 day single entry tourist visa, and a typical turnaround of six to twelve hours for Laos citizens doing a a2a visa change.
Looking to extend your stay in the UAE?
Let White Sky Travel help you process an airport visa change from a tourist visa, cancelled residence visa, or current visa on-arrival.
What is a a2a visa change?
A a2a visa change works on one principle: you must be outside UAE territory before a new tourist visa can be activated against your passport. Immigration only links a new visa to a Laos passport once the holder has left the UAE, which is why the flight is essential. A flydubai rotation to a nearby GCC airport is the fastest way to do it. The typical route runs from Dubai International Terminal 2 to Muscat, Kuwait or Doha, with a return the same day.
Some visitors choose the Oman bus route instead, though it is slower and involves sleeping near the border crossing. Although a a2a visa change is dearer than the bus option, the time saved makes it the sensible choice for most Laos visitors.
When Laos passport holders need a a2a visa change
A a2a visa change is a fallback, because the UAE allows visit visa extension without exit in many cases. These are the situations where Laos travellers should book one:
- You have reached the 120 day ceiling after extending a 30 day visa three times or a 60 day visa twice.
- Your UAE residence visa has been cancelled. A cancelled residency cannot be extended, so we convert your status to a 60 day tourist visa through a a2a visa change.
- The expiry date has passed. Extension is no longer possible, so a a2a visa change after paying any fine is the way forward.
- You entered on a visa type that cannot be extended in country, such as certain on arrival stamps or multiple entry permits. Message us on WhatsApp and we will confirm which category your Laos passport falls under.
Overstay fines and why you should book early
The overstay fine in the UAE is AED 50 per day, applied uniformly to tourist, visit and residence visas in every emirate. Tourist and visit visas carry no grace period, which means fines begin immediately after the expiry date. If the overstay passes 30 days, an additional exit permit costing about AED 250 to 300 is required. A a2a visa change booked ten days before expiry costs exactly the same as one booked on the last day, so we recommend contacting us when you still have 10 to 15 days remaining.

a2a visa change price for Laos passport holders
At White Sky Travel a a2a visa change costs AED 1,550 and includes the flydubai return ticket and a 60 day single entry tourist visa. The price is the same whether you are changing from a tourist visa or converting a cancelled residence visa. It covers the airline ticket, the visa fee and our coordination before, during and after the flight.
- Visa type: 60 days, single entry
- Airline: flydubai, departing and returning at Dubai Terminal 2
- Visa delivery: PDF sent to you on WhatsApp once immigration approves
- Support: our consultants on WhatsApp from booking until you clear immigration
- Cost: AED 1,550 for each adult passenger
There is no 30 day version of our a2a visa change. The 30 day visa costs almost as much and delivers half the stay, so the 60 day package is the sensible option. A few nationalities pay an additional AED 100 for longer processing. We check the position for Laos passports and tell you upfront. Overstay fines, if any, are paid by the traveller at the immigration desk before departure and are not part of the package.
A refundable security deposit may apply for some nationalities. It is separate from the visa price, it is returned after you exit the UAE at the end of your stay, and we confirm the amount for Laos passports on WhatsApp before you pay anything.
Spread the cost
If you are a UAE resident arranging a a2a visa change for a relative or friend holding a Laos passport, you can pay through Tabby over up to 12 months, Tamara on extendable terms, or a UAE credit card in 3, 6, 9 or 12 monthly instalments subject to your bank. Applicants who are not UAE residents pay through a secure online link.
Documents required for a Laos passport
Share these four items on WhatsApp and we will confirm whether we can proceed, typically within the hour:
- Your passport data page plus a photo of the back cover. We ask for both because the back cover is the item most often forgotten.
- At least six months remaining validity, two empty pages, and no torn or water damaged pages.
- A white background colour photo in passport format, without eyewear, taken recently.
- Whatever permit you currently hold: the tourist visa copy or the residence cancellation paper.
A bank statement covering six months is required for certain passports. Where Laos citizens are affected, the statement of a family member living in the UAE is accepted. Please also carry a card or some cash on the return flight, since immigration can ask arriving visitors to show proof of funds. We also ask you to complete the short guarantee form at applyvisa.app before travel day.
What happens on the day
The day before you fly
Once your documents are approved we book the flydubai seat, send you the ticket and ask you to clear any fines in the GDRFA or ICP app. With a valid visa, no payment is due at the airport. Book for Monday to Thursday if you can, as a Friday delay can stretch over the weekend.
Leaving the UAE
Reach Terminal 2 at Dubai International about five hours early, check in with flydubai and ask for the outbound and return boarding passes together. WhatsApp us photos of both boarding passes before you go through immigration. Your exit stamp ends the current visa, and we lodge the fresh visa the instant the exit appears in the system.
In Muscat, Kuwait or Doha
The flight takes around one hour. You remain in the transit area and do not need to clear immigration in Oman, Kuwait or Qatar for a same day return. Typically the visa is granted in a few hours and we forward the PDF while you are still at the transit airport. Should a security check be triggered, expect 24 to 48 hours. The airline lets you wait airside and we stay on WhatsApp until the visa is issued.
Returning to Dubai
Once you have the PDF from us, you can use the eGate at Terminal 2 for a quick entry. If the visa is still processing when you land, do not use the eGate; go to a manual immigration counter and wait in the designated area until we confirm approval. The visa clock starts on the date of re entry.
a2a visa change compared with other options
If you still have an in country extension available, use it first; a 30 day extension without exit costs AED 1,200 and needs no travel. A a2a visa change becomes the right choice the moment extension is no longer possible, and it delivers 60 days rather than 30 for AED 1,550. The Dubai to Oman bus is the budget option, starting from AED 1,000 for cancelled residents and AED 1,400 to 1,500 for visit visa holders, but it takes one to two days with an overnight stay. On balance, Laos citizens usually prefer the a2a visa change for its speed and comfort.

What can go wrong and how to avoid it
- Booking too late. Flights sell out around Eid, December and the January peak, so message us at least a week ahead.
- Less than six months on the passport. Immigration will not approve a visa in that case, so renew first.
- Mismatched names between ticket and passport, which airlines and immigration treat seriously.
- Outstanding fines. Clear them in the GDRFA or ICP app before travel, or you will be stopped at immigration.
- Counting on grace days. Visit visas have no grace period, so act before the printed expiry date.
- Hidden immigration records. Let us know about earlier problems so we can assess the risk honestly before booking.
Laos passport a2a visa change FAQ
How long will I be away from Dubai?
Six to twelve hours is normal. Security checks occasionally push it to 24 to 48 hours, and you can wait at the airport throughout.
Can I do this more than once?
You may repeat it, but approval is never automatic and repeated changes are scrutinised. One or two is typical.
My residency was cancelled. Can I still apply?
Absolutely. Cancelled residents from Laos are converted to a 60 day tourist visa through a a2a visa change at the standard AED 1,550.
What is the destination?
Muscat is the most common, with Kuwait and Doha as alternatives, all within two hours of Dubai.
Is a transit visa required?
No visa is required because you never clear immigration in the transit country.
Can my children travel on the same package?
Yes. WhatsApp us all the passports and we will send one price for the family.
What if immigration declines the application?
Refusal is rare but final. You would need to travel elsewhere and the visa fee is retained by the authorities. Our pre check is designed to catch problems early.
Are visa changes by air allowed?
Yes. You leave on the current visa and return on a new one granted by UAE immigration. Using a licensed agency keeps the application within official channels.
