Malaysia passport a2a visa change in the UAE

For travellers from Malaysia, a a2a visa change means leaving the UAE on a short flight and coming back the same day with a brand new 60 day tourist visa. Our team books the flight, lodges the visa application at the right moment and guides you on WhatsApp through every stage of the day.

Short version: AED 1,550, one flydubai return flight, one new 60 day single entry tourist visa, and a typical turnaround of six to twelve hours for Malaysia citizens doing a a2a visa change.

Let White Sky Travel help you process an airport visa change from a tourist visa, cancelled residence visa, or current visa on-arrival.

a2a visa change explained for Malaysia travellers

At its core, a a2a visa change is a short trip out of the country so that a new visa can be issued. Because the new permit can only be granted to someone who is outside the UAE, Malaysia citizens must exit before the visa is approved. Air travel is the most efficient way to complete the exit. Most Malaysia travellers fly from Dubai Terminal 2 to Muscat, Kuwait City or Doha and are back in Dubai the same day.

Some visitors choose the Oman bus route instead, though it is slower and involves sleeping near the border crossing. A a2a visa change costs more than the bus, yet it saves a day and suits families, older travellers and anyone with work or school commitments in Dubai.

Is a a2a visa change the right option for you?

Since in country extension exists, a a2a visa change is the right move only when extension is no longer possible. These are the situations where Malaysia travellers should book one:

  • You have used every in country extension available. A 30 day visa can be extended three times and a 60 day visa twice, each by 30 days, up to a total stay of 120 days.
  • Your residency was cancelled and you need more time in the UAE. The only route is a new tourist visa, which a a2a visa change provides.
  • You missed the extension deadline. With fines already running, a a2a visa change is the fastest way to regularise your status.
  • Your entry stamp is one that immigration does not extend, which applies to some on arrival and multiple entry visas. We can confirm the rules for Malaysia passports on WhatsApp.

Why timing matters in 2026

Every day past expiry costs AED 50 in fines, whichever emirate issued the visa and whichever visa type you hold. There is no grace period on tourist and visit visas, so the fine starts the day after expiry. After 30 days of overstay, an exit permit of roughly AED 250 to 300 becomes necessary as well. Because the fee is the same whenever you book, the smart move is to reach out while 10 to 15 days remain on your visa.

How much does a a2a visa change cost?

Our a2a visa change package is a 60 day single entry UAE tourist visa plus a flydubai return flight, priced at AED 1,550. There is one rate for both tourist visa renewals and residence cancellation cases. Included are the ticket, the visa processing and our WhatsApp guidance from booking to entry.

  • Visa issued: 60 day single entry UAE tourist visa
  • Ticket: flydubai return from Dubai International Terminal 2 to a nearby GCC airport
  • Visa delivery: PDF sent to you on WhatsApp once immigration approves
  • Support: live WhatsApp contact from document check to arrival in Dubai
  • Cost: AED 1,550 for each adult passenger

We only sell the 60 day a2a visa change, since a 30 day visa would cost nearly as much for half the validity. Some nationalities carry an AED 100 surcharge for extended processing; we confirm on WhatsApp whether this applies to Malaysia citizens. Overstay fines, if any, are paid by the traveller at the immigration desk before departure and are not part of the package.

Some Malaysia applicants may need to place a refundable security deposit. It is independent of the visa price, is returned after you exit the country, and we state the amount clearly on WhatsApp first.

Spread the cost

For UAE residents sponsoring a Malaysia family member or friend, the AED 1,550 can be split with Tabby up to 12 months, Tamara on extendable terms, or a UAE credit card over 3, 6, 9 or 12 months according to the bank. Applicants who are not UAE residents pay through a secure online link.

a2a visa change documents for Malaysia passport holders

Send these on WhatsApp and we can usually confirm eligibility within the hour:

  1. Your passport data page plus a photo of the back cover. We ask for both because the back cover is the item most often forgotten.
  2. Six months minimum validity from your flight date, two blank pages, and a passport in clean condition.
  3. A colour passport size photo on a white background, taken within the last six months, without glasses.
  4. Whatever permit you currently hold: the tourist visa copy or the residence cancellation paper.

Bank statement requirements depend on nationality. Should Malaysia be one of the passports that needs one, a relative in the UAE can submit their own statement for you. Please also carry a card or some cash on the return flight, since immigration can ask arriving visitors to show proof of funds. One more step: fill in the guarantee form at applyvisa.app a few days before you fly.

Three to five days ahead

After verification we book flydubai, send your ticket and confirm that you have no unpaid fines on the GDRFA or ICP system. If you are within your visa validity, the airport stage costs nothing extra. Avoid Fridays. If a security check is triggered on a Friday, approval may slip past the weekend when offices are closed.

Check in and exit at Dubai Terminal 2

Reach Terminal 2 at Dubai International about five hours early, check in with flydubai and ask for the outbound and return boarding passes together. Send us a picture of each boarding pass on WhatsApp straight away. Immigration then stamps you out, which formally ends your current visa, and the moment your exit registers we submit your new visa application.

At the transit airport

You will be in the air for about an hour. You remain in the transit area and do not need to clear immigration in Oman, Kuwait or Qatar for a same day return. Approval usually arrives within hours, and you receive the visa PDF on WhatsApp. If your application is referred for a security check, approval can take 24 to 48 hours. Both flydubai and Air Arabia allow passengers to wait at the airport until the visa is approved, and we stay in contact throughout.

Returning to Dubai

Holding the approved PDF, you may pass through the Terminal 2 eGate. If the visa is still processing when you land, do not use the eGate; go to a manual immigration counter and wait in the designated area until we confirm approval. Your 60 days begin on the entry date.

Should Malaysia travellers extend, fly or take the bus?

If you still have an in country extension available, use it first; a 30 day extension without exit costs AED 1,200 and needs no travel. Once extension is off the table, the a2a visa change is the better option, giving 60 days for AED 1,550. The bus visa change is cheaper, beginning at AED 1,000 for cancelled residents and AED 1,400 to 1,500 for tourist visa holders, but it needs one to two days and an overnight stop. On balance, Malaysia citizens usually prefer the a2a visa change for its speed and comfort.

Why applications get delayed

  • Booking too late. Flights sell out around Eid, December and the January peak, so message us at least a week ahead.
  • Short passport validity. Applications on passports with under six months remaining are refused.
  • Ticket name errors. We need the full name exactly as printed in the Malaysia passport.
  • Unpaid fines. Immigration will not let you board with outstanding overstay fines, so check and pay through the GDRFA or ICP app before you reach the airport.
  • Counting on grace days. Visit visas have no grace period, so act before the printed expiry date.
  • Hidden immigration records. Let us know about earlier problems so we can assess the risk honestly before booking.

Frequently asked questions about a2a visa change for Malaysia passport

What is the total time from departure to return?

Plan for six to twelve hours. In rare cases a security review adds 24 to 48 hours, and both flydubai and Air Arabia let you stay airside until it clears.

Is there a limit on repeat visa changes?

The rules set no maximum, but each new visa is a fresh decision by immigration, and consecutive changes are looked at more carefully.

My residency was cancelled. Can I still apply?

Yes. This is the most common case we handle. Your employer cancels the residency, you receive the cancellation paper, and we convert you to a 60 day tourist visa at the same AED 1,550 rate.

What is the destination?

Muscat, Kuwait City or Doha, depending on flydubai availability on your chosen date. All are under two hours from Dubai and support a same day return.

Will I need a visa for the other country?

No visa is required because you never clear immigration in the transit country.

Can my children travel on the same package?

Yes. WhatsApp us all the passports and we will send one price for the family.

What happens on rejection?

Very few applications are refused. If yours is, the return to Dubai is not possible and onward travel is required. Government visa fees cannot be refunded, so we review your history carefully first.

Is this an official process?

It is fully legal. The visa is issued by the UAE authorities in the normal way; the only difference is that you are outside the country at the time.
