For travellers from Mauritania, a a2a visa change means leaving the UAE on a short flight and coming back the same day with a brand new 60 day tourist visa. We arrange the flydubai return ticket, submit the visa application the moment your exit registers, and stay on WhatsApp with you until you clear immigration in Dubai.
Short version: AED 1,550, one flydubai return flight, one new 60 day single entry tourist visa, and a typical turnaround of six to twelve hours for Mauritania citizens doing a a2a visa change.
Looking to extend your stay in the UAE?
Let White Sky Travel help you process an airport visa change from a tourist visa, cancelled residence visa, or current visa on-arrival.
What is a a2a visa change?
A a2a visa change is an exit and re entry. The rule is that the applicant, in this case a Mauritania passport holder, must be abroad when the new visa is processed. A short flight is the quickest way to meet that condition. Most Mauritania travellers fly from Dubai Terminal 2 to Muscat, Kuwait City or Doha and are back in Dubai the same day.
The land alternative is the visa change by bus to Oman, which takes longer and involves a night near the border. Flying is the more expensive choice, but it is faster and far more comfortable for Mauritania families, older passengers and busy professionals.
Who from Mauritania needs a a2a visa change?
A a2a visa change is a fallback, because the UAE allows visit visa extension without exit in many cases. These are the situations where Mauritania travellers should book one:
- You have reached the 120 day ceiling after extending a 30 day visa three times or a 60 day visa twice.
- Your residency was cancelled and you need more time in the UAE. The only route is a new tourist visa, which a a2a visa change provides.
- You missed the extension deadline. With fines already running, a a2a visa change is the fastest way to regularise your status.
- Your visa category is not eligible for extension. We check this for Mauritania citizens on WhatsApp before you spend anything.
The 2026 rule every Mauritania visitor should know
An expired visa attracts a fine of AED 50 per day, and that figure is the same for every visa category and every emirate. Visitors do not receive any grace days, and the fine runs from the first day of overstay. After 30 days of overstay, an exit permit of roughly AED 250 to 300 becomes necessary as well. Because the fee is the same whenever you book, the smart move is to reach out while 10 to 15 days remain on your visa.

How much does a a2a visa change cost?
We offer one product: a 60 day single entry UAE tourist visa with a flydubai return ticket for AED 1,550. The price is the same whether you are changing from a tourist visa or converting a cancelled residence visa. It covers the airline ticket, the visa fee and our coordination before, during and after the flight.
- Visa type: 60 days, single entry
- Flight included: flydubai round trip from Dubai Terminal 2
- Processing: visa applied while you are outside the UAE and sent to your WhatsApp as a PDF
- Support: live WhatsApp contact from document check to arrival in Dubai
- Price: AED 1,550 per adult
We do not offer a 30 day a2a visa change. A 30 day visa costs nearly the same to process and gives you half the time, so the 60 day option is better value in every case we see. A surcharge of AED 100 applies to a small number of nationalities that require additional processing, and we will tell you before you pay whether a Mauritania passport is affected. Fines for overstaying are cleared by the passenger at the airport and sit outside the package price.
Certain passports may be asked for a refundable security deposit. This is not part of the visa fee, it is refunded once you leave the UAE, and we will tell Mauritania travellers the exact figure on WhatsApp in advance.
Payment plans for UAE residents
If you are a UAE resident arranging a a2a visa change for a relative or friend holding a Mauritania passport, you can pay through Tabby over up to 12 months, Tamara on extendable terms, or a UAE credit card in 3, 6, 9 or 12 monthly instalments subject to your bank. All other applicants receive a secure online payment link.
Paperwork for a a2a visa change
Send these on WhatsApp and we can usually confirm eligibility within the hour:
- Front page and back cover of the passport. Applications are most frequently sent back because the back cover was left out.
- Six months minimum validity from your flight date, two blank pages, and a passport in clean condition.
- A colour passport size photo on a white background, taken within the last six months, without glasses.
- The existing tourist visa PDF or, for cancelled residents, the cancellation document.
Some nationalities may be asked for a six month bank statement, and where that applies to a Mauritania passport a UAE based family member’s statement can be submitted on your behalf. On arrival, immigration may request evidence of funds, so have a bank card or cash to hand. Please complete the guarantee form at applyvisa.app once we confirm your booking.
The a2a visa change process from start to finish
Before travel
We lock in the flight, forward the ticket on WhatsApp and check that any outstanding fines have been paid online. With a valid visa, no payment is due at the airport. We always advise Mauritania travellers to fly Monday to Thursday, because a Friday departure that hits a delay can mean waiting through the Saturday and Sunday weekend.
Departure from Dubai
Reach Terminal 2 at Dubai International about five hours early, check in with flydubai and ask for the outbound and return boarding passes together. Send us a picture of each boarding pass on WhatsApp straight away. Your exit stamp ends the current visa, and we lodge the fresh visa the instant the exit appears in the system.
While you wait abroad
Flight time is roughly an hour. You remain in the transit area and do not need to clear immigration in Oman, Kuwait or Qatar for a same day return. In standard cases the new visa is approved within a few hours and we send the PDF to your WhatsApp before your return flight. A small number of applications go to security check, which can add 24 to 48 hours. Airlines permit you to wait at the airport, and we keep you updated until it clears.
Arrival at Terminal 2
Holding the approved PDF, you may pass through the Terminal 2 eGate. If the visa is still processing when you land, do not use the eGate; go to a manual immigration counter and wait in the designated area until we confirm approval. Validity runs for 60 days from your arrival.
a2a visa change compared with other options
Where an extension is still possible, take it: the in country option costs AED 1,200 for 30 days and requires no flight. When you can no longer extend, a a2a visa change provides twice the stay of an extension for AED 1,550. The Dubai to Oman bus is the budget option, starting from AED 1,000 for cancelled residents and AED 1,400 to 1,500 for visit visa holders, but it takes one to two days with an overnight stay. For most Mauritania visitors the flight is the better balance of time, comfort and certainty.

Why applications get delayed
- Late bookings. Demand spikes at Eid, in December and in January, so start early.
- A passport expiring within six months. Renew it before attempting a a2a visa change.
- Mismatched names between ticket and passport, which airlines and immigration treat seriously.
- Overstay fines still due. Pay them in advance through the GDRFA or ICP app.
- Believing there is a buffer. There is not, and fines start the day after expiry.
- Hidden immigration records. Let us know about earlier problems so we can assess the risk honestly before booking.
Answers for Mauritania citizens
How long will I be away from Dubai?
Plan for six to twelve hours. In rare cases a security review adds 24 to 48 hours, and both flydubai and Air Arabia let you stay airside until it clears.
Can I do this more than once?
The rules set no maximum, but each new visa is a fresh decision by immigration, and consecutive changes are looked at more carefully.
My residency was cancelled. Can I still apply?
Absolutely. Cancelled residents from Mauritania are converted to a 60 day tourist visa through a a2a visa change at the standard AED 1,550.
Which country will I transit through?
We book flydubai to Muscat, Kuwait or Doha based on seat availability. Each is a short flight with a same day return.
Will I need a visa for the other country?
No visa is required because you never clear immigration in the transit country.
What about children on Mauritania passports?
Certainly. Every family member, including children, needs a ticket and visa, and we arrange all of them together.
What happens on rejection?
Refusal is rare but final. You would need to travel elsewhere and the visa fee is retained by the authorities. Our pre check is designed to catch problems early.
Is a a2a visa change legal?
Yes, completely. It follows standard immigration procedure, and a licensed agency such as ours submits the application through the proper system.
