When a visitor from Mauritius has run out of extension options, a a2a visa change is the practical answer: a short flight out, a new visa issued while you wait, and a return within hours. We arrange the flydubai return ticket, submit the visa application the moment your exit registers, and stay on WhatsApp with you until you clear immigration in Dubai.
Quick answer: a a2a visa change for a Mauritius passport costs AED 1,550 flat, includes a flydubai return ticket and a 60 day single entry UAE tourist visa, and normally takes six to twelve hours from departure to re entry.
Looking to extend your stay in the UAE?
Let White Sky Travel help you process an airport visa change from a tourist visa, cancelled residence visa, or current visa on-arrival.
How a a2a visa change works
A a2a visa change is simply a controlled exit followed by a fresh entry. Immigration only links a new visa to a Mauritius passport once the holder has left the UAE, which is why the flight is essential. Flying is the fastest way to satisfy that rule. Most Mauritius travellers fly from Dubai Terminal 2 to Muscat, Kuwait City or Doha and are back in Dubai the same day.
There is also a bus option to Oman, but it takes a full day or more and includes an overnight stay. Flying is the more expensive choice, but it is faster and far more comfortable for Mauritius families, older passengers and busy professionals.
Is a a2a visa change the right option for you?
Many UAE visit visas can be extended without leaving, which means a a2a visa change is only needed in specific cases. These are the situations where Mauritius travellers should book one:
- All your extensions are used up. The UAE allows a 30 day visa to be extended three times and a 60 day visa twice, and total stay cannot go beyond 120 days.
- Your UAE residence visa has been cancelled. A cancelled residency cannot be extended, so we convert your status to a 60 day tourist visa through a a2a visa change.
- Your visa has already expired. Extensions must be filed before expiry, so once the date has passed the practical solution is to settle the fine and exit through a a2a visa change.
- You entered on a visa type that cannot be extended in country, such as certain on arrival stamps or multiple entry permits. Message us on WhatsApp and we will confirm which category your Mauritius passport falls under.
Overstay fines and why you should book early
The overstay fine in the UAE is AED 50 per day, applied uniformly to tourist, visit and residence visas in every emirate. There is no grace period on tourist and visit visas, so the fine starts the day after expiry. Overstays beyond 30 days also require an exit permit, usually AED 250 to 300, on top of the daily fine. Because the fee is the same whenever you book, the smart move is to reach out while 10 to 15 days remain on your visa.

a2a visa change price for Mauritius passport holders
Our a2a visa change package is a 60 day single entry UAE tourist visa plus a flydubai return flight, priced at AED 1,550. The price is the same whether you are changing from a tourist visa or converting a cancelled residence visa. Included are the ticket, the visa processing and our WhatsApp guidance from booking to entry.
- Visa issued: 60 day single entry UAE tourist visa
- Flight included: flydubai round trip from Dubai Terminal 2
- How you get it: a PDF copy on WhatsApp while you wait at the transit airport
- Support: our consultants on WhatsApp from booking until you clear immigration
- Rate: AED 1,550 per person
There is no 30 day version of our a2a visa change. The 30 day visa costs almost as much and delivers half the stay, so the 60 day package is the sensible option. A surcharge of AED 100 applies to a small number of nationalities that require additional processing, and we will tell you before you pay whether a Mauritius passport is affected. Overstay fines, if any, are paid by the traveller at the immigration desk before departure and are not part of the package.
For a limited set of nationalities a refundable deposit is requested. It sits apart from the AED 1,550, comes back to you after your final exit, and we confirm whether it applies to Mauritius citizens before booking.
Instalment options
Residents of the UAE who book on behalf of Mauritius visitors can use Tabby for up to 12 months, Tamara with extendable repayment, or a UAE credit card with 3, 6, 9 or 12 month terms set by the card issuer. Everyone else is sent a secure payment link online.
Documents required for a Mauritius passport
Send these on WhatsApp and we can usually confirm eligibility within the hour:
- Front page and back cover of the passport. Applications are most frequently sent back because the back cover was left out.
- At least six months remaining validity, two empty pages, and no torn or water damaged pages.
- A white background colour photo in passport format, without eyewear, taken recently.
- Your current visa copy, either the tourist visa you hold or the residence cancellation paper.
Bank statement requirements depend on nationality. Should Mauritius be one of the passports that needs one, a relative in the UAE can submit their own statement for you. UAE immigration may also ask arriving travellers to show proof of funds on entry, so carry a card or cash that demonstrates you can support your stay. The a2a visa change process from start to finish
Preparation
After verification we book flydubai, send your ticket and confirm that you have no unpaid fines on the GDRFA or ICP system. With a valid visa, no payment is due at the airport. Avoid Fridays. If a security check is triggered on a Friday, approval may slip past the weekend when offices are closed.
Departure from Dubai
Get to Terminal 2 five hours ahead, complete flydubai check in and take both boarding passes. Photograph both passes and send them to us on WhatsApp. Once immigration records your exit, your old visa closes and we file the new application immediately.
At the transit airport
The hop to Muscat, Kuwait or Doha takes close to an hour. You remain in the transit area and do not need to clear immigration in Oman, Kuwait or Qatar for a same day return. Approval usually arrives within hours, and you receive the visa PDF on WhatsApp. If your application is referred for a security check, approval can take 24 to 48 hours. Both flydubai and Air Arabia allow passengers to wait at the airport until the visa is approved, and we stay in contact throughout.
Back in the UAE
Holding the approved PDF, you may pass through the Terminal 2 eGate. Should the visa still be pending on landing, avoid the eGate, use the manual counters and wait in the Terminal 2 holding area until we confirm. The new 60 day visa starts counting from the day you re enter.
Should Mauritius travellers extend, fly or take the bus?
Where an extension is still possible, take it: the in country option costs AED 1,200 for 30 days and requires no flight. A a2a visa change steps in when extension ends, and it gives 60 days instead of 30. The bus visa change is cheaper, beginning at AED 1,000 for cancelled residents and AED 1,400 to 1,500 for tourist visa holders, but it needs one to two days and an overnight stop. Most Mauritius passport holders find the flight worth the difference for the time it saves.

Why applications get delayed
- Waiting until the final days. Peak periods such as Eid, December and January fill flights quickly.
- Passport validity under six months. Renew before you travel, as immigration will not issue a visa against a short validity passport.
- Spelling differences. Ticket and passport names must be identical, middle names included.
- Fines left unpaid. Settle everything online before the flight to avoid being held at the exit counter.
- Believing there is a buffer. There is not, and fines start the day after expiry.
- Undisclosed history. Prior overstays, bans or uncancelled visas can lead to refusal, so share them with us upfront.
Frequently asked questions about a2a visa change for Mauritius passport
What is the total time from departure to return?
Six to twelve hours is normal. Security checks occasionally push it to 24 to 48 hours, and you can wait at the airport throughout.
Is there a limit on repeat visa changes?
The rules set no maximum, but each new visa is a fresh decision by immigration, and consecutive changes are looked at more carefully.
Is a a2a visa change possible for cancelled residents?
Yes. Send the cancellation document and we handle the change to a 60 day tourist visa for the same flat price.
Where does the flight go?
The destination is usually Muscat, though Kuwait City and Doha are also used. All three allow a same day turnaround.
Do I need a visa for Oman, Kuwait or Qatar?
No. You remain airside at the transit airport, so no visa for that country is needed.
Can I bring my family?
Yes. Each child needs their own ticket and visa. Send us the family’s passports on WhatsApp and we will quote for the group.
What happens on rejection?
Rejection is uncommon. Should it happen, you would need to fly on to your home country or another destination, and the visa fee is not refundable as it is a government charge. We flag risks before booking so that this does not come as a surprise.
Is it lawful to do this?
Yes. You leave on the current visa and return on a new one granted by UAE immigration. Using a licensed agency keeps the application within official channels.
