A a2a visa change is the fastest lawful way for Mexico passport holders to receive a new 60 day UAE tourist visa when the visa they currently hold can no longer be extended. We take care of the flydubai booking, the visa submission and the timing, so Mexico travellers spend the least possible time away from Dubai.
Short version: AED 1,550, one flydubai return flight, one new 60 day single entry tourist visa, and a typical turnaround of six to twelve hours for Mexico citizens doing a a2a visa change.
Looking to extend your stay in the UAE?
Let White Sky Travel help you process an airport visa change from a tourist visa, cancelled residence visa, or current visa on-arrival.
a2a visa change explained for Mexico travellers
A a2a visa change is an exit and re entry. Because the new permit can only be granted to someone who is outside the UAE, Mexico citizens must exit before the visa is approved. A short flight is the quickest way to meet that condition. The usual routing from Dubai is to Muscat, Kuwait City or Doha, and most travellers are back in the arrivals hall at Terminal 2 within six to twelve hours of departure.
A bus visa change through Oman exists as well, but it costs a night away and a much longer day. Although a a2a visa change is dearer than the bus option, the time saved makes it the sensible choice for most Mexico visitors.
Who from Mexico needs a a2a visa change?
A a2a visa change is a fallback, because the UAE allows visit visa extension without exit in many cases. For Mexico citizens, the following circumstances call for a a2a visa change:
- Your extensions are exhausted: three for a 30 day visa, two for a 60 day visa, with 120 days as the overall limit.
- Your employer has cancelled your residence visa. Cancellation papers cannot be extended, so a a2a visa change converts you to a 60 day tourist visa.
- Your visa expired before you applied for an extension. In that case you pay the overstay fine and exit on a a2a visa change.
- You entered on a visa type that cannot be extended in country, such as certain on arrival stamps or multiple entry permits. Message us on WhatsApp and we will confirm which category your Mexico passport falls under.
Overstay fines and why you should book early
UAE authorities charge AED 50 for every day a visit visa remains expired, and the same flat rate applies across all visa types and emirates. There is no grace period on tourist and visit visas, so the fine starts the day after expiry. Anyone who overstays by more than 30 days also needs an exit permit, typically AED 250 to 300, before they can leave. The price does not change with urgency, which is why we suggest starting the process with at least 10 to 15 days remaining.

a2a visa change cost from Dubai for Mexico citizens
We offer one product: a 60 day single entry UAE tourist visa with a flydubai return ticket for AED 1,550. There is one rate for both tourist visa renewals and residence cancellation cases. That figure pays for the flydubai ticket, the visa itself and our coordination on travel day.
- What you receive: a 60 day single entry tourist visa for the UAE
- Ticket: flydubai return from Dubai International Terminal 2 to a nearby GCC airport
- Visa delivery: PDF sent to you on WhatsApp once immigration approves
- Assistance: WhatsApp support throughout, including on the day of travel
- Cost: AED 1,550 for each adult passenger
We do not offer a 30 day a2a visa change. A 30 day visa costs nearly the same to process and gives you half the time, so the 60 day option is better value in every case we see. A surcharge of AED 100 applies to a small number of nationalities that require additional processing, and we will tell you before you pay whether a Mexico passport is affected. Overstay fines, if any, are paid by the traveller at the immigration desk before departure and are not part of the package.
For a limited set of nationalities a refundable deposit is requested. It sits apart from the AED 1,550, comes back to you after your final exit, and we confirm whether it applies to Mexico citizens before booking.
Pay in instalments
For UAE residents sponsoring a Mexico family member or friend, the AED 1,550 can be split with Tabby up to 12 months, Tamara on extendable terms, or a UAE credit card over 3, 6, 9 or 12 months according to the bank. All other applicants receive a secure online payment link.
Documents required for a Mexico passport
Message us these items on WhatsApp and we will normally confirm your eligibility within an hour:
- Front page and back cover of the passport. Applications are most frequently sent back because the back cover was left out.
- Passport validity of at least six months from the planned travel date, with at least two blank pages and no damage.
- A recent colour photograph, white background, passport dimensions, no glasses.
- Your current visa copy, either the tourist visa you hold or the residence cancellation paper.
Depending on nationality, a six month bank statement may be requested. If that applies to Mexico applicants, a UAE resident family member can provide theirs instead. UAE immigration may also ask arriving travellers to show proof of funds on entry, so carry a card or cash that demonstrates you can support your stay. One more step: fill in the guarantee form at applyvisa.app a few days before you fly.
What happens on the day
Preparation
Once your documents are approved we book the flydubai seat, send you the ticket and ask you to clear any fines in the GDRFA or ICP app. If your visa has not expired, there is nothing to pay at the airport. Book for Monday to Thursday if you can, as a Friday delay can stretch over the weekend.
Check in and exit at Dubai Terminal 2
Get to Terminal 2 five hours ahead, complete flydubai check in and take both boarding passes. Take clear photos of the two passes and send them to your consultant on WhatsApp. After the exit is registered, we submit the new tourist visa application for your Mexico passport without delay.
The waiting period
Flight time is roughly an hour. Because you do not leave the airport, Mexico passport holders need no visa for the transit country. In standard cases the new visa is approved within a few hours and we send the PDF to your WhatsApp before your return flight. A small number of applications go to security check, which can add 24 to 48 hours. Airlines permit you to wait at the airport, and we keep you updated until it clears.
Returning to Dubai
With the visa PDF on your phone, the eGate at Terminal 2 gives you a fast entry. If approval has not come through yet, skip the eGate, approach a manual counter and stay in the waiting area until we send the PDF. Validity runs for 60 days from your arrival.
A2A versus extension versus bus
If you still have an in country extension available, use it first; a 30 day extension without exit costs AED 1,200 and needs no travel. Once extension is off the table, the a2a visa change is the better option, giving 60 days for AED 1,550. The bus to Oman costs less, from AED 1,000 for residence cancellation and AED 1,400 to 1,500 for visit visa holders, but it takes a day or two and includes a night away. For most Mexico visitors the flight is the better balance of time, comfort and certainty.

Why applications get delayed
- Waiting until the final days. Peak periods such as Eid, December and January fill flights quickly.
- Less than six months on the passport. Immigration will not approve a visa in that case, so renew first.
- Spelling differences. Ticket and passport names must be identical, middle names included.
- Overstay fines still due. Pay them in advance through the GDRFA or ICP app.
- Expecting extra days after expiry. The UAE gives visitors none, so plan around the exact date.
- Hidden immigration records. Let us know about earlier problems so we can assess the risk honestly before booking.
Answers for Mexico citizens
How long will I be away from Dubai?
Typically six to twelve hours from departure to re entry. Some applications need 24 to 48 hours if immigration orders a security check, and the airline allows you to wait at the airport in that case.
How often can I repeat a a2a visa change?
No official cap exists, though immigration reviews each case separately and frequent repeats draw more attention. Most Mexico visitors do one or two before obtaining residency or departing.
Does this work after residency cancellation?
Yes, and it is the situation we see most often. Once you have the cancellation paper, we process a 60 day tourist visa for AED 1,550.
Where does the flight go?
The destination is usually Muscat, though Kuwait City and Doha are also used. All three allow a same day turnaround.
Do Mexico passport holders need an Oman visa for this?
Not for a same day return. You do not enter Oman, Kuwait or Qatar; you stay in transit.
Can I bring my family?
Certainly. Every family member, including children, needs a ticket and visa, and we arrange all of them together.
What if immigration declines the application?
Refusal is rare but final. You would need to travel elsewhere and the visa fee is retained by the authorities. Our pre check is designed to catch problems early.
Are visa changes by air allowed?
Yes, completely. It follows standard immigration procedure, and a licensed agency such as ours submits the application through the proper system.
