For travellers from Monaco, a a2a visa change means leaving the UAE on a short flight and coming back the same day with a brand new 60 day tourist visa. We take care of the flydubai booking, the visa submission and the timing, so Monaco travellers spend the least possible time away from Dubai.
Quick answer: a a2a visa change for a Monaco passport costs AED 1,550 flat, includes a flydubai return ticket and a 60 day single entry UAE tourist visa, and normally takes six to twelve hours from departure to re entry.
Looking to extend your stay in the UAE?
Let White Sky Travel help you process an airport visa change from a tourist visa, cancelled residence visa, or current visa on-arrival.
How a a2a visa change works
At its core, a a2a visa change is a short trip out of the country so that a new visa can be issued. Because the new permit can only be granted to someone who is outside the UAE, Monaco citizens must exit before the visa is approved. A short flight is the quickest way to meet that condition. The usual routing from Dubai is to Muscat, Kuwait City or Doha, and most travellers are back in the arrivals hall at Terminal 2 within six to twelve hours of departure.
The land alternative is the visa change by bus to Oman, which takes longer and involves a night near the border. The flight route is pricier than the bus, but it saves an entire day and works better for families, seniors and people who cannot take time off.
Who from Monaco needs a a2a visa change?
Most 30 day and 60 day UAE visit visas can now be extended from inside the country, so a a2a visa change is not always necessary. Here is when it becomes the right choice for a Monaco passport holder:
- You have used every in country extension available. A 30 day visa can be extended three times and a 60 day visa twice, each by 30 days, up to a total stay of 120 days.
- Your employer has cancelled your residence visa. Cancellation papers cannot be extended, so a a2a visa change converts you to a 60 day tourist visa.
- You missed the extension deadline. With fines already running, a a2a visa change is the fastest way to regularise your status.
- Your entry stamp is one that immigration does not extend, which applies to some on arrival and multiple entry visas. We can confirm the rules for Monaco passports on WhatsApp.
Do not wait until the last day
The overstay fine in the UAE is AED 50 per day, applied uniformly to tourist, visit and residence visas in every emirate. Tourist and visit visas carry no grace period, which means fines begin immediately after the expiry date. Overstays beyond 30 days also require an exit permit, usually AED 250 to 300, on top of the daily fine. The price does not change with urgency, which is why we suggest starting the process with at least 10 to 15 days remaining.

Price of a a2a visa change on a Monaco passport
At White Sky Travel a a2a visa change costs AED 1,550 and includes the flydubai return ticket and a 60 day single entry tourist visa. Tourist visa holders and cancelled residents pay an identical amount. The amount includes the flight, the government visa fee and our support throughout the day.
- Visa issued: 60 day single entry UAE tourist visa
- Flight: flydubai return ticket from Dubai Terminal 2 to Muscat, Kuwait City or Doha
- How you get it: a PDF copy on WhatsApp while you wait at the transit airport
- Support: our consultants on WhatsApp from booking until you clear immigration
- Rate: AED 1,550 per person
We do not offer a 30 day a2a visa change. A 30 day visa costs nearly the same to process and gives you half the time, so the 60 day option is better value in every case we see. An AED 100 supplement applies to certain passports that need extra processing time. Ask us whether Monaco is on that list before you book. Overstay fines, if any, are paid by the traveller at the immigration desk before departure and are not part of the package.
A refundable security deposit may apply for some nationalities. It is separate from the visa price, it is returned after you exit the UAE at the end of your stay, and we confirm the amount for Monaco passports on WhatsApp before you pay anything.
Spread the cost
For UAE residents sponsoring a Monaco family member or friend, the AED 1,550 can be split with Tabby up to 12 months, Tamara on extendable terms, or a UAE credit card over 3, 6, 9 or 12 months according to the bank. Other travellers pay by a secure online payment link that we send on WhatsApp.
Documents required for a Monaco passport
Message us these items on WhatsApp and we will normally confirm your eligibility within an hour:
- Your passport data page plus a photo of the back cover. We ask for both because the back cover is the item most often forgotten.
- A passport valid for six months or more from the date of travel, in good condition with two blank pages.
- A recent colour photograph, white background, passport dimensions, no glasses.
- A copy of the visa you are on now, or the official cancellation paper if your residency was cancelled.
Some nationalities may be asked for a six month bank statement, and where that applies to a Monaco passport a UAE based family member’s statement can be submitted on your behalf. On arrival, immigration may request evidence of funds, so have a bank card or cash to hand. Please complete the guarantee form at applyvisa.app once we confirm your booking.
How the day unfolds for a Monaco passport holder
Preparation
We confirm your flydubai flight, share the ticket and remind you to settle any overstay fine through the GDRFA or ICP app. If your visa has not expired, there is nothing to pay at the airport. Book for Monday to Thursday if you can, as a Friday delay can stretch over the weekend.
Leaving the UAE
Plan to be at Dubai Terminal 2 five hours before the flight, check in and receive boarding passes for both sectors. WhatsApp us photos of both boarding passes before you go through immigration. Once immigration records your exit, your old visa closes and we file the new application immediately.
The waiting period
Flight time is roughly an hour. Because you do not leave the airport, Monaco passport holders need no visa for the transit country. Most applications clear within a few hours, and the approved visa reaches your WhatsApp as a PDF. Occasionally immigration orders a security check, extending the wait to 24 to 48 hours. You can remain at the airport and we will monitor the status with you.
Returning to Dubai
Holding the approved PDF, you may pass through the Terminal 2 eGate. Should the visa still be pending on landing, avoid the eGate, use the manual counters and wait in the Terminal 2 holding area until we confirm. Your 60 days begin on the entry date.
Should Monaco travellers extend, fly or take the bus?
If you still have an in country extension available, use it first; a 30 day extension without exit costs AED 1,200 and needs no travel. When you can no longer extend, a a2a visa change provides twice the stay of an extension for AED 1,550. The bus to Oman costs less, from AED 1,000 for residence cancellation and AED 1,400 to 1,500 for visit visa holders, but it takes a day or two and includes a night away. For the majority of travellers from Monaco, the a2a visa change is the more comfortable and predictable route.

Common problems for Monaco applicants and how we prevent them
- Leaving it to the last minute. Seats disappear around Eid, December and January, so contact us a week or more in advance.
- Passport validity under six months. Renew before you travel, as immigration will not issue a visa against a short validity passport.
- Name mismatch. The name on the ticket must match the Monaco passport exactly, including middle names.
- Outstanding fines. Clear them in the GDRFA or ICP app before travel, or you will be stopped at immigration.
- Counting on grace days. Visit visas have no grace period, so act before the printed expiry date.
- Previous immigration issues. Old bans, unresolved cases or improperly cancelled visas can affect approval, so tell us about them before you pay.
Monaco passport a2a visa change FAQ
What is the total time from departure to return?
Six to twelve hours is normal. Security checks occasionally push it to 24 to 48 hours, and you can wait at the airport throughout.
How often can I repeat a a2a visa change?
The rules set no maximum, but each new visa is a fresh decision by immigration, and consecutive changes are looked at more carefully.
My residency was cancelled. Can I still apply?
Yes. This is the most common case we handle. Your employer cancels the residency, you receive the cancellation paper, and we convert you to a 60 day tourist visa at the same AED 1,550 rate.
What is the destination?
We book flydubai to Muscat, Kuwait or Doha based on seat availability. Each is a short flight with a same day return.
Will I need a visa for the other country?
No. For a same day return you stay in the international transit area and do not pass through the other country’s immigration.
Can my children travel on the same package?
Yes. WhatsApp us all the passports and we will send one price for the family.
What if my visa is not approved?
Rejection is uncommon. Should it happen, you would need to fly on to your home country or another destination, and the visa fee is not refundable as it is a government charge. We flag risks before booking so that this does not come as a surprise.
Is it lawful to do this?
Yes, completely. It follows standard immigration procedure, and a licensed agency such as ours submits the application through the proper system.
