If you hold a Tonga passport and your UAE visit visa is close to expiry, a a2a visa change is the quickest legal route to a fresh 60 day tourist visa. Our team books the flight, lodges the visa application at the right moment and guides you on WhatsApp through every stage of the day.
The essentials for Tonga passport holders: AED 1,550 all in, a same day flydubai rotation from Dubai Terminal 2, and a 60 day single entry visa issued while you wait at the transit airport.

Let White Sky Travel help you process an airport visa change from a tourist visa, cancelled residence visa, or current visa on-arrival.
The meaning of a2a visa change for Tonga passport holders
A a2a visa change is an exit and re entry. Because the new permit can only be granted to someone who is outside the UAE, Tonga citizens must exit before the visa is approved. A short flight is the quickest way to meet that condition. Most Tonga travellers fly from Dubai Terminal 2 to Muscat, Kuwait City or Doha and are back in Dubai the same day.
Some visitors choose the Oman bus route instead, though it is slower and involves sleeping near the border crossing. A a2a visa change costs more than the bus, yet it saves a day and suits families, older travellers and anyone with work or school commitments in Dubai.
When Tonga passport holders need a a2a visa change
A a2a visa change is a fallback, because the UAE allows visit visa extension without exit in many cases. Here is when it becomes the right choice for a Tonga passport holder:
- All your extensions are used up. The UAE allows a 30 day visa to be extended three times and a 60 day visa twice, and total stay cannot go beyond 120 days.
- Your UAE residence visa has been cancelled. A cancelled residency cannot be extended, so we convert your status to a 60 day tourist visa through a a2a visa change.
- The expiry date has passed. Extension is no longer possible, so a a2a visa change after paying any fine is the way forward.
- You hold a permit that is not extendable from inside the UAE. Send us a photo of your visa on WhatsApp and we will advise the correct route for a Tonga passport.
Why timing matters in 2026
UAE authorities charge AED 50 for every day a visit visa remains expired, and the same flat rate applies across all visa types and emirates. No grace period applies to visit visas, so the counter starts the very next day. Anyone who overstays by more than 30 days also needs an exit permit, typically AED 250 to 300, before they can leave. A a2a visa change booked ten days before expiry costs exactly the same as one booked on the last day, so we recommend contacting us when you still have 10 to 15 days remaining.

How much does a a2a visa change cost?
We offer one product: a 60 day single entry UAE tourist visa with a flydubai return ticket for AED 1,550. Tourist visa holders and cancelled residents pay an identical amount. That figure pays for the flydubai ticket, the visa itself and our coordination on travel day.
- Visa issued: 60 day single entry UAE tourist visa
- Airline: flydubai, departing and returning at Dubai Terminal 2
- Visa delivery: PDF sent to you on WhatsApp once immigration approves
- Assistance: WhatsApp support throughout, including on the day of travel
- Cost: AED 1,550 for each adult passenger
There is no 30 day version of our a2a visa change. The 30 day visa costs almost as much and delivers half the stay, so the 60 day package is the sensible option. Some nationalities carry an AED 100 surcharge for extended processing; we confirm on WhatsApp whether this applies to Tonga citizens. If you have overstayed, the fine is paid directly to immigration and is not included in the AED 1,550.
A refundable security deposit may apply for some nationalities. It is separate from the visa price, it is returned after you exit the UAE at the end of your stay, and we confirm the amount for Tonga passports on WhatsApp before you pay anything.
Payment plans for UAE residents
Residents of the UAE who book on behalf of Tonga visitors can use Tabby for up to 12 months, Tamara with extendable repayment, or a UAE credit card with 3, 6, 9 or 12 month terms set by the card issuer. Everyone else is sent a secure payment link online.
Paperwork for a a2a visa change
Share these four items on WhatsApp and we will confirm whether we can proceed, typically within the hour:
- Passport scan showing the front page and the back cover. A missing back cover is the most common reason an application is returned, so please include both.
- Passport validity of at least six months from the planned travel date, with at least two blank pages and no damage.
- A recent colour photograph, white background, passport dimensions, no glasses.
- Your current visa copy, either the tourist visa you hold or the residence cancellation paper.
Bank statement requirements depend on nationality. Should Tonga be one of the passports that needs one, a relative in the UAE can submit their own statement for you. Please also carry a card or some cash on the return flight, since immigration can ask arriving visitors to show proof of funds. One more step: fill in the guarantee form at applyvisa.app a few days before you fly.
The a2a visa change process from start to finish
Before travel
We confirm your flydubai flight, share the ticket and remind you to settle any overstay fine through the GDRFA or ICP app. If you are within your visa validity, the airport stage costs nothing extra. Book for Monday to Thursday if you can, as a Friday delay can stretch over the weekend.
At the airport
Get to Terminal 2 five hours ahead, complete flydubai check in and take both boarding passes. Send us a picture of each boarding pass on WhatsApp straight away. Your exit stamp ends the current visa, and we lodge the fresh visa the instant the exit appears in the system.
While you wait abroad
The hop to Muscat, Kuwait or Doha takes close to an hour. You stay in the international transit zone, so no visa for Oman, Kuwait or Qatar is required. Approval usually arrives within hours, and you receive the visa PDF on WhatsApp. If your application is referred for a security check, approval can take 24 to 48 hours. Both flydubai and Air Arabia allow passengers to wait at the airport until the visa is approved, and we stay in contact throughout.
Returning to Dubai
If we have already sent the PDF, go straight to the eGate at Terminal 2. Should the visa still be pending on landing, avoid the eGate, use the manual counters and wait in the Terminal 2 holding area until we confirm. Your 60 days begin on the entry date.
A2A versus extension versus bus
Where an extension is still possible, take it: the in country option costs AED 1,200 for 30 days and requires no flight. When you can no longer extend, a a2a visa change provides twice the stay of an extension for AED 1,550. The bus to Oman costs less, from AED 1,000 for residence cancellation and AED 1,400 to 1,500 for visit visa holders, but it takes a day or two and includes a night away. Most Tonga passport holders find the flight worth the difference for the time it saves.

Common problems for Tonga applicants and how we prevent them
- Waiting until the final days. Peak periods such as Eid, December and January fill flights quickly.
- A passport expiring within six months. Renew it before attempting a a2a visa change.
- Spelling differences. Ticket and passport names must be identical, middle names included.
- Outstanding fines. Clear them in the GDRFA or ICP app before travel, or you will be stopped at immigration.
- Believing there is a buffer. There is not, and fines start the day after expiry.
- Previous immigration issues. Old bans, unresolved cases or improperly cancelled visas can affect approval, so tell us about them before you pay.
Answers for Tonga citizens
What is the total time from departure to return?
Plan for six to twelve hours. In rare cases a security review adds 24 to 48 hours, and both flydubai and Air Arabia let you stay airside until it clears.
Is there a limit on repeat visa changes?
There is no fixed limit, but every application is assessed on its own and repeated back to back changes attract closer scrutiny. Most of our clients do one or two before moving to a residence visa or leaving the UAE.
Can I do a a2a visa change on a cancelled residence visa?
Yes, and it is the situation we see most often. Once you have the cancellation paper, we process a 60 day tourist visa for AED 1,550.
What is the destination?
Muscat is the most common, with Kuwait and Doha as alternatives, all within two hours of Dubai.
Will I need a visa for the other country?
No. You remain airside at the transit airport, so no visa for that country is needed.
What about children on Tonga passports?
Yes. Each child needs their own ticket and visa. Send us the family’s passports on WhatsApp and we will quote for the group.
What if my visa is not approved?
Rejection is uncommon. Should it happen, you would need to fly on to your home country or another destination, and the visa fee is not refundable as it is a government charge. We flag risks before booking so that this does not come as a surprise.
Is it lawful to do this?
It is fully legal. The visa is issued by the UAE authorities in the normal way; the only difference is that you are outside the country at the time.
