When a Netherlands citizen wants more time in the UAE, a Visa extension adds 30 days to the current visit visa from inside the country. The fee is AED 1,200 for each 30 day extension, approval normally arrives in two to three working days, and everything is handled on WhatsApp. This page explains who qualifies, what a Netherlands passport holder pays, how many times you can extend, the deadline to apply, and what happens once you reach the 120 day limit.
Short version: AED 1,200 per 30 days, processed in country in two to three working days for Netherlands passports, up to 120 days total. Apply a week before expiry via the agency that issued the original visa.
Planning your Dubai trip? Let White Sky handle it.
We book your attraction tickets, tours, hotels and flights — and you can pay later with Tabby, Tamara or UAE credit-card monthly instalments. Need a UAE tourist visa too? We do that in-house.
How an in country UAE visa extension works
A Visa extension is an extension of the current permit; the visa number stays the same and the expiry date moves forward by 30 days. We file the extension through the issuing account, and immigration updates the expiry date on your Netherlands passport record. There is no travel involved: you stay in the UAE, keep your accommodation and wait for the approval on WhatsApp.
Visa change by air or by bus means exiting and re entering on a new visa; a Visa extension avoids the exit altogether. For eligible Netherlands travellers the extension beats the exit routes on cost, effort and time away.
Eligibility for Netherlands passport holders
Eligibility for a Visa extension depends on three things: the visa you hold, how many extensions you have already used, and which agency issued the visa. Send us a copy of your current visa on WhatsApp and we will confirm within the hour whether a Netherlands passport can be extended, or whether an exit route is the better option.
- Tourist visa holders with extensions remaining: up to three on a 30 day visa and up to two on a 60 day visa.
- Anyone whose combined stay stays under 120 days once the extension is counted.
- Those whose visa came from White Sky Travel, since extensions run through the issuing account under immigration rules.
If we did not issue your visa, the original agency can extend it, or we can reset you on a new 60 day visa through an airport to airport change (AED 1,550) or the bus to Oman (from AED 1,000). This service does not cover visa on arrival stamps or residence permits.

How much does a Visa extension cost?
The Visa extension fee is AED 1,200 per 30 day extension, and the price is the same for every nationality, including Netherlands.
- One month visa extension: AED 1,200 for 30 days
- Sixty days of extension: AED 2,400, applied as two 30 day steps
The charge covers immigration and processing costs and is not refundable if the extension is refused. Overstay fines, if any, are paid by the traveller to immigration and are not part of the extension fee. For 30 extra days the extension is cheaper and simpler than any exit route; for a full 60 days with no extensions remaining, the airport to airport change or the bus route becomes the better buy for Netherlands travellers.
Instalment plans for UAE residents
UAE residents arranging a Visa extension for a family member or friend from Netherlands can split the AED 1,200 using Tabby with up to 12 months, Tamara with extendable terms, or a UAE credit card with 3, 6, 9 or 12 month plans depending on the issuing bank. Applicants who are not UAE residents pay through a secure online link. We extend spouses and children together and apply one instalment plan to the combined fee.
What Netherlands citizens need to send us
Because your record already exists with immigration, we only need the following on WhatsApp:
- A clear copy of your Netherlands passport, valid for at least six months.
- A recent colour photograph, white background, passport dimensions, no glasses.
- Your existing visa PDF, which tells us the entry date, expiry and extension count.
The extension does not call for a bank statement, accommodation proof or a return ticket. Immigration can request further documents at its discretion, and we pass any such request on to Netherlands travellers without delay.
Getting your extension in four steps
- Message +971 52 292 1011 or +971 4 220 2133 on WhatsApp five to seven days ahead of expiry with your documents. We review them and confirm eligibility within hours.
- Settle the AED 1,200 by secure link or instalments. The application goes to immigration after payment.
- We file with immigration and follow up. Typical turnaround for Netherlands citizens is two to three working days.
- The approved extension arrives as a PDF on WhatsApp with the updated expiry. Store it alongside your passport.
The five to seven day rule for Netherlands visitors
An extension is only possible on a live visa, which is why the expiry date is the hard deadline. With two to three working days of processing and no weekend service, a five to seven day lead time protects Netherlands visitors from missing the deadline. When chaining extensions, start each one a few days early and count your total days from the original entry.
Why the expiry date is final
UAE visit and tourist visas have no grace period after expiry. An expired visa attracts AED 50 per day in fines from day one, and the rate is the same everywhere in the UAE. If the overstay passes 30 days, an exit permit of around AED 250 to 300 is required on top of the fines. Once expired, the visa cannot be extended. You settle the fine and use an exit route, airport to airport or bus, which we organise for Netherlands travellers.

What to do after the maximum extensions
The 120 day ceiling is absolute; after it, every Netherlands visitor has to exit. The choices are an airport to airport change (AED 1,550, same day, flydubai), the Oman bus route (from AED 1,000, about a day), going home and applying afresh, or moving to a residence visa where a sponsor exists. The two exit routes each provide a fresh 60 day visa whoever issued the first one, and we organise both.
Common problems for Netherlands applicants and how we prevent them
- Leaving it to the last day. An expired visa cannot be extended, so allow a week.
- Assuming any agency can extend. Only the issuer can, because immigration routes the request through the issuing account. Check who issued your visa before you plan.
- Assuming the clock resets with each extension. It does not; 120 days is the total from entry.
- Passport validity under six months. Immigration will not extend a visa on a passport close to expiry.
- Trying to extend a visa on arrival or a residence visa. This service covers agency issued visit visas only; other permits need a different route.
Frequently asked questions about Visa extension for Netherlands passport
Can I extend my UAE visit visa without exiting on a Netherlands passport?
Yes. No exit is needed for agency issued visit visas within the extension limits and the 120 day cap, when processed by the original issuer.
What are the UAE visit visa extension fees?
AED 1,200 per 30 day extension, the same for every nationality including Netherlands. A two month extension is AED 2,400, processed as two consecutive 30 day extensions.
What is the processing time?
Expect two to three working days for a Netherlands passport, with a buffer for weekends and holidays.
Can I extend my 30 day visa more than once?
The limit is 120 days in total: three 30 day extensions on a 30 day visa, or two on a 60 day visa.
What if my visa came from a different agency?
Only the issuing agency can extend a visa in country; that is how the immigration system works, not an agency policy. For visas issued elsewhere, ask that agency, or book an exit route with us (airport to airport AED 1,550, bus from AED 1,000) for a fresh 60 day visa.
Is there a grace period after my visa expires?
None. The AED 50 daily fine starts the day after the visa expires, with an exit permit of around AED 250 to 300 added after 30 days of overstay.
Can spouse and children extend at the same time?
Yes. Family extensions are handled as one application, and the total fee is eligible for instalments when a UAE resident books on the family’s behalf.
Can immigration decline an extension?
Refusals are rare when the eligibility rules are met. If immigration declines, the fee is not refundable because the government charge is paid at submission, and you would need to exit before expiry through an airport to airport change or the bus to Oman. We check eligibility carefully before you pay to keep this risk low.
