- Apply for your Visa extension with White Sky Travel
For travellers from New Zealand, the Visa extension is the simplest way to stay longer: no airport, no bus, just a 30 day extension processed while you remain in the UAE. We process the extension for AED 1,200 per 30 day block, usually within two to three working days, and the whole application runs on WhatsApp. This page explains who qualifies, what a New Zealand passport holder pays, how many times you can extend, the deadline to apply, and what happens once you reach the 120 day limit.
Quick answer: a Visa extension for a New Zealand passport costs AED 1,200 per 30 days and is processed inside the UAE in two to three working days. A 30 day visa can be extended three times and a 60 day visa twice, up to a total stay of 120 days. Apply at least five to seven days before expiry, and note that the extension must be processed by the agency that issued the original visa.
Planning your Dubai trip? Let White Sky handle it.
We book your attraction tickets, tours, hotels and flights — and you can pay later with Tabby, Tamara or UAE credit-card monthly instalments. Need a UAE tourist visa too? We do that in-house.
Visa extension explained for New Zealand travellers
A Visa extension is an extension of the current permit; the visa number stays the same and the expiry date moves forward by 30 days. Immigration processes the extension under the original issuer’s account and records the new expiry against your New Zealand passport. No flight, no bus and no border: you remain where you are and receive the approval on WhatsApp.
The exit routes, airport to airport and bus to Oman, issue a brand new visa after you leave; an extension does not require leaving at all. Wherever a New Zealand citizen is still within the extension limits, this is the option we recommend before anything else.
Eligibility for New Zealand passport holders
Three factors decide whether a New Zealand passport holder can extend: the visa type, the number of extensions already taken, and the issuing agency. We check the position for New Zealand passports on WhatsApp and advise the right route: extension, airport to airport or bus.
- Visit and tourist visa holders on a 30 day or 60 day visa issued through a travel agency. A 30 day visa can be extended three times and a 60 day visa twice, each by 30 days.
- Travellers who will remain within the 120 day ceiling after the extension is added.
- Visitors whose visa we issued. Immigration processes extensions through the original issuer’s account, so another agency cannot extend a visa we did not issue, and we cannot extend a visa issued elsewhere.
If your visa was issued by a different agency, you have two choices: ask that agency to extend it, or use an exit route with us. An airport to airport visa change costs AED 1,550 and a visa change by bus to Oman starts from AED 1,000, and both give you a fresh 60 day visa regardless of who issued the first one. Visas issued on arrival and residence visas cannot be extended through this service.

New Zealand passport Visa extension price
A 30 day extension is AED 1,200 for all passports, New Zealand included; there is no nationality based pricing on extensions.
- One month visa extension: AED 1,200 for 30 days
- Sixty days of extension: AED 2,400, applied as two 30 day steps
The charge covers immigration and processing costs and is not refundable if the extension is refused. Overstay fines, if any, are paid by the traveller to immigration and are not part of the extension fee. If you only need a month, extend; if you need two months and have run out of extensions, a new visa by air or bus is the better route for a New Zealand passport.
Spreading the cost
If you live in the UAE and are sponsoring a relative or friend holding a New Zealand passport, the extension fee can be paid through Tabby over up to 12 months, Tamara on extendable terms, or a UAE credit card in 3, 6, 9 or 12 monthly instalments subject to your bank. All other applicants receive a secure online payment link. We extend spouses and children together and apply one instalment plan to the combined fee.
Visa extension requirements for New Zealand passport holders
Since immigration already has your file from the original visa, an extension needs only a few items. WhatsApp us:
- A clear copy of your New Zealand passport, valid for at least six months.
- A colour passport size photo on a white background, without glasses.
- A copy of your current UAE visit visa, so we can confirm the issue date, the expiry date and how many extensions have already been used.
You will not be asked for financial documents, a hotel booking or a ticket to extend. Immigration can request further documents at its discretion, and we pass any such request on to New Zealand travellers without delay.
Getting your extension in four steps
- Send your documents on WhatsApp to +971 52 292 1011 or +971 4 220 2133 at least five to seven days before your visa expires. We check the expiry date and extension count and confirm eligibility the same day.
- Complete payment through the link or instalment option we provide. We file the extension once payment clears.
- We lodge the application and track it. Approval for New Zealand passports usually takes two to three working days; immigration can sometimes extend this.
- Once approved, we send the extension PDF on WhatsApp. It shows the new expiry date and should travel with your passport.
Timing your Visa extension
An extension is only possible on a live visa, which is why the expiry date is the hard deadline. Allow five to seven days: two to three working days for processing, plus a buffer for weekends and holidays. Back to back extensions should each be filed a few days before the running expiry, always within the 120 day cap.
Overstay rules in 2026
There is no grace period on a UAE visit visa. Every day beyond expiry costs AED 50, whichever emirate issued the visa, starting immediately. Overstays beyond 30 days additionally require an exit permit of roughly AED 250 to 300. An expired visa means a visa change rather than an extension: pay the fine, then exit by air or bus with us and return on a new visa.

When extension is no longer possible
The 120 day ceiling is absolute; after it, every New Zealand visitor has to exit. The choices are an airport to airport change (AED 1,550, same day, flydubai), the Oman bus route (from AED 1,000, about a day), going home and applying afresh, or moving to a residence visa where a sponsor exists. Air or bus, the result is a new 60 day visa, and we book either for New Zealand travellers on WhatsApp.
How to keep your application on track
- Leaving it to the last day. An expired visa cannot be extended, so allow a week.
- Expecting a third party to extend a visa it did not issue, which the system does not allow.
- Miscounting the 120 days. Total stay is counted from the original entry date, not from the last extension, so keep a running tally.
- Less than six months on the passport, which blocks the extension.
- Confusing residency or arrival stamps with agency visit visas, which are the only ones we can extend.
New Zealand passport Visa extension FAQ
Can New Zealand passport holders extend in country?
Yes. No exit is needed for agency issued visit visas within the extension limits and the 120 day cap, when processed by the original issuer.
What are the UAE visit visa extension fees?
One month costs AED 1,200 and two months cost AED 2,400, issued as two 30 day extensions. The fee does not vary by nationality, so New Zealand passports pay the standard rate.
How many days until approval?
Most extensions are approved within two to three working days. Weekends and public holidays are not counted, and immigration may occasionally take longer, so apply five to seven days before expiry.
Can I extend my 30 day visa more than once?
Up to three times for a 30 day visa and twice for a 60 day visa, always within a 120 day ceiling.
Can I extend a visa issued by another agency?
Extensions go through the issuer’s account, so a visa from another agency must be extended by them. Alternatively, we arrange an airport to airport change or the Oman bus, neither of which depends on who issued the first visa.
Is there a grace period after my visa expires?
No. UAE visit and tourist visas have no grace period. A fine of AED 50 per day applies from the day after expiry, and overstays beyond 30 days also require an exit permit of about AED 250 to 300.
What about family members on New Zealand passports?
Yes. Each family member pays AED 1,200 per extension, we file them together, and the total can be spread over instalments for UAE resident sponsors.
Is the fee refundable on rejection?
Rejection is uncommon for eligible applications. Fees are not refunded on refusal, since immigration retains the charge, and the fallback is an exit route before the visa expires. Our pre check is designed to catch problems early.
