The meaning of Visa extension for Norway passport holders

An in country Visa extension extends the visa you already hold rather than issuing a fresh one. The application is submitted to immigration through the same agency account that issued your original visa, and once approved the new expiry date is recorded against your Norway passport. The five to seven day rule for Norway visitors

The extension must be submitted before the current visa expires; an expired visa cannot be extended. We ask Norway travellers to contact us five to seven days ahead, because processing takes two to three working days and weekends and public holidays do not count. For consecutive extensions, submit each new request a few days before the previous extension expires and track your cumulative stay against the 120 day limit.

Why the expiry date is final

UAE visit and tourist visas have no grace period after expiry. The overstay fine is AED 50 per day, applied uniformly across every emirate and visa category, from the first day past expiry. Anyone who overstays by more than 30 days also needs an exit permit, typically AED 250 to 300, before leaving. If your visa has already expired, extension is off the table; the practical route is to pay the fine and exit through an airport to airport change or the bus to Oman, and we can arrange either.

Reaching the 120 day limit

The 120 day ceiling is absolute; after it, every Norway visitor has to exit. You can fly out and back the same day for AED 1,550, take the Oman bus from AED 1,000, return to Norway and reapply, or switch to residency if you have a sponsor. The two exit routes each provide a fresh 60 day visa whoever issued the first one, and we organise both.

How to keep your application on track

• Applying too late. Extensions cannot be filed after expiry, so contact us five to seven days ahead.
• Assuming any agency can extend. Only the issuer can, because immigration routes the request through the issuing account. Check who issued your visa before you plan.
• Miscounting the 120 days. Total stay is counted from the original entry date, not from the last extension, so keep a running tally.
• A passport expiring soon. Renew it before applying.
• Trying to extend a visa on arrival or a residence visa. This service covers agency issued visit visas only; other permits need a different route.
