When a Rwanda citizen wants more time in the UAE, a Visa extension adds 30 days to the current visit visa from inside the country. We process the extension for AED 1,200 per 30 day block, usually within two to three working days, and the whole application runs on WhatsApp. Read on for the rules that apply to Rwanda passports: cost, number of extensions, timing, documents and the exit routes once the maximum is reached.
Quick answer: a Visa extension for a Rwanda passport costs AED 1,200 per 30 days and is processed inside the UAE in two to three working days. A 30 day visa can be extended three times and a 60 day visa twice, up to a total stay of 120 days. Apply at least five to seven days before expiry, and note that the extension must be processed by the agency that issued the original visa.

We book your attraction tickets, tours, hotels and flights — and you can pay later with Tabby, Tamara or UAE credit-card monthly instalments. Need a UAE tourist visa too? We do that in-house.
The meaning of Visa extension for Rwanda passport holders
An in country Visa extension extends the visa you already hold rather than issuing a fresh one. The request goes to immigration under the account that issued the visa, and approval extends the expiry date linked to your Rwanda passport. You do not leave the country at any point; the approval arrives on WhatsApp while you carry on with your stay.
This is different from an airport to airport visa change or a visa change by bus to Oman, both of which involve leaving the UAE and returning on a completely new tourist visa. If a Rwanda passport holder is still eligible, the extension is cheaper and simpler than any exit route, so it is always our first suggestion.
Who from Rwanda can apply for a Visa extension?
Eligibility for a Visa extension depends on three things: the visa you hold, how many extensions you have already used, and which agency issued the visa. WhatsApp us your visa copy and we will tell you straight away if an extension is possible for a Rwanda passport or if you need a visa change instead.
- Anyone on a 30 day or 60 day tourist visa issued by an agency: three extensions for the 30 day visa, two for the 60 day visa, 30 days each time.
- Travellers who will remain within the 120 day ceiling after the extension is added.
- Visitors whose visa we issued. Immigration processes extensions through the original issuer’s account, so another agency cannot extend a visa we did not issue, and we cannot extend a visa issued elsewhere.
If your visa was issued by a different agency, you have two choices: ask that agency to extend it, or use an exit route with us. An airport to airport visa change costs AED 1,550 and a visa change by bus to Oman starts from AED 1,000, and both give you a fresh 60 day visa regardless of who issued the first one. Arrival stamps and residency visas are not extendable through an agency.

Visa extension fees for Rwanda passport holders
Each 30 day extension costs AED 1,200, and unlike a new visa the fee does not change by nationality, so Rwanda passports pay the standard rate.
- One month visa extension: AED 1,200 for 30 days
- Two month visa extension: AED 2,400, processed as two consecutive 30 day extensions
The AED 1,200 includes the immigration fee and our service. It cannot be refunded on refusal, since the government charge is paid when the application is lodged. If a fine has accrued, it is paid to immigration in addition to the extension fee. If you only need a month, extend; if you need two months and have run out of extensions, a new visa by air or bus is the better route for a Rwanda passport.
Payment options
For UAE residents applying on behalf of Rwanda family or friends, the AED 1,200 can be spread with Tabby up to 12 months, Tamara on extendable terms, or a UAE credit card over 3, 6, 9 or 12 months according to the bank. All other applicants receive a secure online payment link. We extend spouses and children together and apply one instalment plan to the combined fee.
What Rwanda citizens need to send us
Because your record already exists with immigration, we only need the following on WhatsApp:
- Your Rwanda passport data page, with six months or more validity remaining.
- One colour passport photo on a plain white background.
- Your existing visa PDF, which tells us the entry date, expiry and extension count.
Bank statements, hotel confirmations and return tickets are not part of the extension application. Immigration can request further documents at its discretion, and we pass any such request on to Rwanda travellers without delay.
Getting your extension in four steps
- WhatsApp your documents to +971 52 292 1011 or +971 4 220 2133 a week before expiry. We verify the dates and confirm whether a Rwanda passport can be extended.
- Complete payment through the link or instalment option we provide. We file the extension once payment clears.
- We file with immigration and follow up. Typical turnaround for Rwanda citizens is two to three working days.
- You receive the approved extension as a PDF on WhatsApp showing the new expiry date. Keep it with your passport for the rest of your stay.
Do not wait until the last day
An extension is only possible on a live visa, which is why the expiry date is the hard deadline. Because approval takes two to three working days and government offices close at weekends and on public holidays, Rwanda passport holders should message us five to seven days before expiry. For consecutive extensions, submit each new request a few days before the previous extension expires and track your cumulative stay against the 120 day limit.
What happens if you miss the deadline
Visitors do not receive any grace days after the expiry date. A fine of AED 50 applies for every day of overstay, the same flat rate across all visa types and emirates, and it starts the day after expiry. After 30 days of overstay, an exit permit costing about AED 250 to 300 becomes necessary as well. If your visa has already expired, extension is off the table; the practical route is to pay the fine and exit through an airport to airport change or the bus to Oman, and we can arrange either.

Options for Rwanda visitors after 120 days
When the extensions are exhausted and 120 days are up, leaving the country is required. From there you have four routes: an airport to airport visa change at AED 1,550 with a same day return by flydubai, a visa change by bus to Oman from AED 1,000 over about one day, returning home and applying for a fresh visa later, or converting to a residence visa if an employer or family sponsor is available. Air or bus, the result is a new 60 day visa, and we book either for Rwanda travellers on WhatsApp.
Why extensions get refused or delayed
- Applying too late. Extensions cannot be filed after expiry, so contact us five to seven days ahead.
- Assuming any agency can extend. Only the issuer can, because immigration routes the request through the issuing account. Check who issued your visa before you plan.
- Losing track of cumulative days. The 120 day cap runs from first entry, including every extension.
- A passport expiring soon. Renew it before applying.
- Applying with an arrival stamp or residency, which cannot be extended through an agency.
Frequently asked questions about Visa extension for Rwanda passport
Can I extend my UAE visit visa without exiting on a Rwanda passport?
Yes, without leaving the country. The conditions are an agency issued 30 or 60 day visa, extensions still available, a total stay under 120 days, and processing through the issuing agency.
How much is a 2 month extension?
AED 1,200 for a 30 day extension and AED 2,400 for 60 days, with no nationality surcharge for Rwanda citizens.
How long does a Visa extension take?
Most extensions are approved within two to three working days. Weekends and public holidays are not counted, and immigration may occasionally take longer, so apply five to seven days before expiry.
How many extensions are allowed?
The limit is 120 days in total: three 30 day extensions on a 30 day visa, or two on a 60 day visa.
Who can process my extension?
The same agency rule applies to every nationality, Rwanda included. If we did not issue the visa, we cannot extend it, but we can reset you on a new 60 day visa by air (AED 1,550) or bus (from AED 1,000).
When do fines start?
No. UAE visit and tourist visas have no grace period. A fine of AED 50 per day applies from the day after expiry, and overstays beyond 30 days also require an exit permit of about AED 250 to 300.
Is there a family extension option?
Yes. We process extensions for spouses, children and other family members together, and UAE residents booking for family can split the combined total across Tabby, Tamara or a UAE credit card plan.
What happens if it is not approved?
Immigration can decline at its discretion, though it seldom does for eligible Rwanda applicants. The fee is not returned on refusal, and an exit route becomes necessary before expiry.
