Visa extension for South Korea citizens without leaving the UAE

When a South Korea citizen wants more time in the UAE, a Visa extension adds 30 days to the current visit visa from inside the country. How an in country UAE visa extension works

A Visa extension without exit is an extension of your existing visit visa, not a new visa. Immigration processes the extension under the original issuer’s account and records the new expiry against your South Korea passport. No flight, no bus and no border: you remain where you are and receive the approval on WhatsApp.

The exit routes, airport to airport and bus to Oman, issue a brand new visa after you leave; an extension does not require leaving at all. For South Korea visitors who still qualify, the extension is the cheapest and least disruptive option, and it is the one we recommend first.

Eligibility for South Korea passport holders

Three factors decide whether a South Korea passport holder can extend: the visa type, the number of extensions already taken, and the issuing agency. • Anyone on a 30 day or 60 day tourist visa issued by an agency: three extensions for the 30 day visa, two for the 60 day visa, 30 days each time.

• Visitors whose visa we issued. Immigration processes extensions through the original issuer’s account, so another agency cannot extend a visa we did not issue, and we cannot extend a visa issued elsewhere.

If your visa was issued by a different agency, you have two choices: ask that agency to extend it, or use an exit route with us. An airport to airport visa change costs AED 1,550 and a visa change by bus to Oman starts from AED 1,000, and both give you a fresh 60 day visa regardless of who issued the first one. On arrival stamps and residence visas fall outside this service.

Paperwork for a Visa extension

Since immigration already has your file from the original visa, an extension needs only a few items. WhatsApp us:

1. A scan of the passport, valid for a minimum of six months.
2. A white background colour photo in passport format, without eyewear.
3. A copy of your current UAE visit visa, so we can confirm the issue date, the expiry date and how many extensions have already been used.

You will not be asked for financial documents, a hotel booking or a ticket to extend. Immigration may occasionally request an additional document on a case by case basis, and we will tell you immediately if that happens for a South Korea passport.

How South Korea citizens apply

Do not wait until the last day

The extension must be submitted before the current visa expires; an expired visa cannot be extended. We ask South Korea travellers to contact us five to seven days ahead, because processing takes two to three working days and weekends and public holidays do not count. When chaining extensions, start each one a few days early and count your total days from the original entry.

What happens if you miss the deadline

There is no grace period on a UAE visit visa. Every day beyond expiry costs AED 50, whichever emirate issued the visa, starting immediately. Overstays beyond 30 days additionally require an exit permit of roughly AED 250 to 300. If your visa has already expired, extension is off the table; the practical route is to pay the fine and exit through an airport to airport change or the bus to Oman, and we can arrange either.

Reaching the 120 day limit

Once a South Korea visitor has used every extension and reached 120 days, exit is mandatory. You can fly out and back the same day for AED 1,550, take the Oman bus from AED 1,000, return to South Korea and reapply, or switch to residency if you have a sponsor. The two exit routes each provide a fresh 60 day visa whoever issued the first one, and we organise both.

Mistakes to avoid

• Leaving it to the last day. An expired visa cannot be extended, so allow a week.
• Assuming any agency can extend. Only the issuer can, because immigration routes the request through the issuing account. Check who issued your visa before you plan.
• Assuming the clock resets with each extension. It does not; 120 days is the total from entry.
• A passport expiring soon. Renew it before applying.
• Confusing residency or arrival stamps with agency visit visas, which are the only ones we can extend.
