Validity and duration of stay

The visa must be used to enter the UAE within 60 days of the date of issue. The stay period, 30 or 60 days, starts counting from your arrival date. With single entry you may arrive once; multiple entry permits several arrivals within the validity, ideal for regional itineraries that pass through Oman, Saudi Arabia or Qatar. A tourist visa does not permit employment in the UAE.

What happens if you overstay

Once a visit visa expires, no extra days are granted. Every day beyond expiry costs AED 50, whichever emirate issued the visa, starting immediately. Anyone who overstays by more than 30 days also needs an exit permit, typically AED 250 to 300, before leaving. Visa extension without leaving the UAE

A 30 day visa can be extended three times for 30 days each, and a 60 day visa twice for 30 days each, with no exit required. The overall ceiling is 120 days of stay. After the limit, the only way to stay on is to leave and come back on a new visa, by air through an airport to airport change or by bus via Oman. You must apply before the visa runs out; we recommend contacting us with at least seven days to spare.

Sharjah visa option

Common reasons a Dubai visa is delayed or refused

• Leaving out the back cover, which immigration requires alongside the data page.
• Less than six months on the passport. Immigration will not approve the visa in that case.
• Blurred or cropped photos. Use a clear, full colour scan with all four corners visible.

• A passport with a single name and no document showing a full name, which immigration cannot process.
