Sponsor requirements

How long the Dubai visa is valid

The permit is valid for entry for 60 days from issue. Your 30 or 60 days of stay begin on the day you enter, not on the day the visa is issued. With single entry you may arrive once; multiple entry permits several arrivals within the validity, ideal for regional itineraries that pass through Oman, Saudi Arabia or Qatar. Employment is not permitted on a tourist visa.

What happens if you overstay

Once a visit visa expires, no extra days are granted. Every day beyond expiry costs AED 50, whichever emirate issued the visa, starting immediately. Can Sri Lanka citizens extend the visa?

A 30 day visa can be extended three times for 30 days each, and a 60 day visa twice for 30 days each, with no exit required. Combined stay is capped at 120 days. When the extensions are used up, Sri Lanka visitors must exit and return on a fresh visa, either by a same day flight or by the Oman bus route. Apply for the extension ahead of the expiry date, ideally a week before.

• Back cover not sent. It is the most common omission, so attach it from the start.
• Short passport validity, which leads to refusal.
• Blurred or cropped photos. Use a clear, full colour scan with all four corners visible.

Fees are not refunded on rejection, as the government charge is paid when the application is lodged. A fresh application can be made once the issue is resolved.

Is there a visa for minors?

Yes. Each child needs their own visa and pays the same fee as an adult. Send the child’s passport, photo and birth certificate on WhatsApp along with the parents’ documents.

Can I look for a job on this visa?

No. A tourist visa does not permit employment. You may attend interviews and visit, but working requires a residence visa sponsored by an employer.
