Is a Dubai visa required for United States citizens?

Most nationalities need a prearranged visa before flying to the UAE, and that is what we issue. Certain passports qualify for visa on arrival, and eligibility rules shift from year to year. Message us a photo of your United States passport on WhatsApp and we will confirm which rule applies before any payment is taken.

United States passport Dubai visa fees

Here is the September 2026 price list for United States passport holders:

  • 30 days, single entry: AED 450
  • 60 days, single entry: AED 650
  • Multiple entry 30 day visa: AED 800
  • 60 day tourist visa, multiple entry: AED 1,000

No tourist visa shorter than 30 days is available. The visa fee is paid to immigration at submission and cannot be refunded if the application is declined.

Security deposits explained

Some passports are asked for a refundable security deposit. The deposit sits apart from the visa fee, is returned after you leave the UAE, and we confirm the amount for United States citizens on WhatsApp before booking.

Payment options

If you live in the UAE and are sponsoring a relative or friend holding a United States passport, the fee can be paid through Tabby over up to 12 months, Tamara on extendable terms, or a UAE credit card in 3, 6, 9 or 12 monthly instalments subject to your bank. Other travellers pay by a secure online payment link that we send on WhatsApp.

Paperwork for a Dubai visa

Send these on WhatsApp and we can usually confirm eligibility within the hour:

  1. Front page and back cover of the passport, six months validity minimum. Applications are most frequently sent back because the back cover was left out.
  2. A colour passport size photo on a white background, without glasses.
  3. Confirmed two way flight booking. We can book the flights on your behalf if needed.
  4. For minors, a birth certificate. For a few nationalities, a copy of the national ID card is also required.

Depending on nationality, a six month bank statement may be requested. If that applies to United States applicants, a UAE resident family member can provide theirs instead. On arrival, immigration may request evidence of funds, so have a bank card or cash to hand.

Applying through a family member or friend in the UAE

When a UAE resident applies on behalf of a United States visitor, we also need the sponsor’s passport copy valid for six months, residence visa page valid for six months, Emirates ID front and back, and the guarantee form completed at applyvisa.app. If a statement is requested, a UAE family member may supply it on the applicant’s behalf, but a friend’s statement is not accepted.

How to apply for a Dubai visa from United States

  1. Message +971 52 292 1011 or +971 4 220 2133 on WhatsApp with your documents. We verify everything and advise on the best option for your dates.
  2. Complete payment through the link or instalment option we provide. We submit the application once documents and payment are in place.
  3. We lodge the application and track it. Approval for United States passports usually takes 24 to 72 hours; immigration can sometimes extend this or ask for more paperwork.
  4. The approved visa arrives as a PDF on WhatsApp. Carry a printed or digital copy for the airline and for immigration on arrival.

Validity, entry and stay rules for United States visitors

The visa must be used to enter the UAE within 60 days of the date of issue. Your 30 or 60 days of stay begin on the day you enter, not on the day the visa is issued. Single entry means one arrival only, while multiple entry allows repeated exits and returns during the validity period, useful for side trips to Oman, Saudi Arabia or Qatar. Employment is not permitted on a tourist visa.

Why the expiry date matters

Visitors do not receive any grace days after the expiry date. The overstay fine is AED 50 per day, applied uniformly across every emirate and visa category, from the first day past expiry. Overstays beyond 30 days additionally require an exit permit of roughly AED 250 to 300. We send United States clients a reminder on WhatsApp before the visa expires so that you can extend or exit in time.

Staying longer than 30 or 60 days

Thirty day visas may be extended three times by 30 days, and 60 day visas twice by 30 days, all from inside the UAE. The overall ceiling is 120 days of stay. At the 120 day point, a new visa requires an exit, which can be done by an airport to airport change or the bus to Oman. Extension applications must be submitted before the current visa expires, so contact us with at least a week remaining.

Another route for United States passports

We can also issue a Sharjah 60 day single entry visa for AED 1,200, which requires no security deposit. The visa allows travel throughout the UAE, not only Sharjah. Message us and we will compare both routes for your United States passport.

Why applications get held up

  • Missing passport back cover. Include it with your first message to avoid resubmission.
  • Passport validity under six months. Renew before applying.
  • Poor quality scans. Make sure the whole page is visible and readable.
  • Previous overstays, unpaid fines or improperly cancelled visas. Tell us about any past UAE history so we can advise honestly before you pay.
  • Passports bearing a single name, which require a supporting document before we can apply.
  • Tight timelines. Three working days is the minimum, and peak seasons need more.

Questions United States travellers ask us

When will I receive my visa?

Usually one to three working days. The decision rests with immigration, and delays are possible, so do not book non changeable flights until the visa is issued.

Cheapest Dubai visa option?

The 30 day visa is AED 450 single entry or AED 800 multiple entry, with Indian and Filipino passports at AED 400 and AED 750. Some nationalities may also need a refundable deposit.

How much is a 60 day Dubai visa for United States passport holders?

For United States passports AED 650 single entry and AED 1,000 multiple entry; Indian and Filipino citizens pay AED 600 and AED 950.

Is a bank statement required for a United States passport?

Bank statement requirements vary by nationality. Where one is needed, a family member living in the UAE can provide it. Separately, immigration can ask for proof of funds on arrival. We confirm the position for United States citizens on WhatsApp.

Can the visa be extended?

Yes, without exit. Three extensions on a 30 day visa, two on a 60 day visa, 30 days each, capped at 120 days total. Beyond that, an exit and re entry is required. Apply before the visa expires.

Is there a grace period after the Dubai visa expires?

There is no grace period. Fines of AED 50 per day begin immediately after expiry, and an exit permit costing roughly AED 250 to 300 is needed if the overstay exceeds 30 days.

Can I get my money back on refusal?

No refund applies on refusal, since immigration retains the processing charge. You can apply again once the problem is addressed.

Is there a visa for minors?

Yes. Children require an individual visa at the standard price. We need the passport, photo and birth certificate for each minor.

Can I work in the UAE on a Dubai visa?

Working on a tourist visa is prohibited. You can interview and explore opportunities, but employment needs a residence visa.
