a2a visa change for Iceland citizens

A a2a visa change is the fastest lawful way for Iceland passport holders to receive a new 60 day UAE tourist visa when the visa they currently hold can no longer be extended. At White Sky Travel we book the return flight, file the new visa as soon as your exit stamp is recorded, and keep in touch on WhatsApp from check in to arrival.

Short version: AED 1,550, one flydubai return flight, one new 60 day single entry tourist visa, and a typical turnaround of six to twelve hours for Iceland citizens doing a a2a visa change.

Looking to extend your stay in the UAE?

Let White Sky Travel help you process an airport visa change from a tourist visa, cancelled residence visa, or current visa on-arrival.

How a a2a visa change works

A a2a visa change is an exit and re entry. The rule is that the applicant, in this case a Iceland passport holder, must be abroad when the new visa is processed. Air travel is the most efficient way to complete the exit. From Dubai you would normally fly to Muscat, Kuwait City or Doha and return to Terminal 2 within six to twelve hours.

There is also a bus option to Oman, but it takes a full day or more and includes an overnight stay. A a2a visa change costs more than the bus, yet it saves a day and suits families, older travellers and anyone with work or school commitments in Dubai.

Situations where Iceland citizens need a a2a visa change

Many UAE visit visas can be extended without leaving, which means a a2a visa change is only needed in specific cases. You will need a a2a visa change on a Iceland passport if any of the following applies:

  • Your extensions are exhausted: three for a 30 day visa, two for a 60 day visa, with 120 days as the overall limit.
  • Your UAE residence visa has been cancelled. A cancelled residency cannot be extended, so we convert your status to a 60 day tourist visa through a a2a visa change.
  • The expiry date has passed. Extension is no longer possible, so a a2a visa change after paying any fine is the way forward.
  • You entered on a visa type that cannot be extended in country, such as certain on arrival stamps or multiple entry permits. Message us on WhatsApp and we will confirm which category your Iceland passport falls under.

Do not wait until the last day

The overstay fine in the UAE is AED 50 per day, applied uniformly to tourist, visit and residence visas in every emirate. There is no grace period on tourist and visit visas, so the fine starts the day after expiry. After 30 days of overstay, an exit permit of roughly AED 250 to 300 becomes necessary as well. A a2a visa change booked ten days before expiry costs exactly the same as one booked on the last day, so we recommend contacting us when you still have 10 to 15 days remaining.

Price of a a2a visa change on a Iceland passport

We offer one product: a 60 day single entry UAE tourist visa with a flydubai return ticket for AED 1,550. The price is the same whether you are changing from a tourist visa or converting a cancelled residence visa. Included are the ticket, the visa processing and our WhatsApp guidance from booking to entry.

  • New UAE tourist visa: 60 days, single entry
  • Airline: flydubai, departing and returning at Dubai Terminal 2
  • Visa delivery: PDF sent to you on WhatsApp once immigration approves
  • Assistance: WhatsApp support throughout, including on the day of travel
  • Rate: AED 1,550 per person

We only sell the 60 day a2a visa change, since a 30 day visa would cost nearly as much for half the validity. Some nationalities carry an AED 100 surcharge for extended processing; we confirm on WhatsApp whether this applies to Iceland citizens. If you have overstayed, the fine is paid directly to immigration and is not included in the AED 1,550.

A refundable security deposit may apply for some nationalities. It is separate from the visa price, it is returned after you exit the UAE at the end of your stay, and we confirm the amount for Iceland passports on WhatsApp before you pay anything.

Spread the cost

Residents of the UAE who book on behalf of Iceland visitors can use Tabby for up to 12 months, Tamara with extendable repayment, or a UAE credit card with 3, 6, 9 or 12 month terms set by the card issuer. Applicants who are not UAE residents pay through a secure online link.

Paperwork for a a2a visa change

Share these four items on WhatsApp and we will confirm whether we can proceed, typically within the hour:

  1. A clear scan of your Iceland passport, both the data page and the back cover. Missing back covers cause most resubmissions.
  2. Passport validity of at least six months from the planned travel date, with at least two blank pages and no damage.
  3. A colour passport size photo on a white background, taken within the last six months, without glasses.
  4. The existing tourist visa PDF or, for cancelled residents, the cancellation document.

Depending on nationality, a six month bank statement may be requested. If that applies to Iceland applicants, a UAE resident family member can provide theirs instead. Please also carry a card or some cash on the return flight, since immigration can ask arriving visitors to show proof of funds. Before the flight we will send you a link to the guarantee form at applyvisa.app, which takes a few minutes to complete.

How the day unfolds for a Iceland passport holder

The day before you fly

We confirm your flydubai flight, share the ticket and remind you to settle any overstay fine through the GDRFA or ICP app. Travellers whose visa is still valid pay nothing at immigration. Book for Monday to Thursday if you can, as a Friday delay can stretch over the weekend.

Departure from Dubai

Get to Terminal 2 five hours ahead, complete flydubai check in and take both boarding passes. Take clear photos of the two passes and send them to your consultant on WhatsApp. Your exit stamp ends the current visa, and we lodge the fresh visa the instant the exit appears in the system.

In Muscat, Kuwait or Doha

Flight time is roughly an hour. Because you do not leave the airport, Iceland passport holders need no visa for the transit country. Approval usually arrives within hours, and you receive the visa PDF on WhatsApp. Occasionally immigration orders a security check, extending the wait to 24 to 48 hours. You can remain at the airport and we will monitor the status with you.

Returning to Dubai

Holding the approved PDF, you may pass through the Terminal 2 eGate. If approval has not come through yet, skip the eGate, approach a manual counter and stay in the waiting area until we send the PDF. Validity runs for 60 days from your arrival.

a2a visa change compared with other options

Before flying, check whether you qualify for the AED 1,200 in country extension, which adds 30 days without leaving. When you can no longer extend, a a2a visa change provides twice the stay of an extension for AED 1,550. Travellers on a tight budget sometimes choose the Oman bus, which starts at AED 1,000 for cancelled residents or AED 1,400 to 1,500 for visitors, at the cost of an overnight trip. Most Iceland passport holders find the flight worth the difference for the time it saves.

Common problems for Iceland applicants and how we prevent them

  • Booking too late. Flights sell out around Eid, December and the January peak, so message us at least a week ahead.
  • Less than six months on the passport. Immigration will not approve a visa in that case, so renew first.
  • Ticket name errors. We need the full name exactly as printed in the Iceland passport.
  • Unpaid fines. Immigration will not let you board with outstanding overstay fines, so check and pay through the GDRFA or ICP app before you reach the airport.
  • Assuming a grace period. There is none, so a visa expiring on the 10th must be extended or exited by the 10th.
  • Hidden immigration records. Let us know about earlier problems so we can assess the risk honestly before booking.

Iceland passport a2a visa change FAQ

How long does a a2a visa change take for a Iceland passport?

Six to twelve hours is normal. Security checks occasionally push it to 24 to 48 hours, and you can wait at the airport throughout.

How many times can a Iceland citizen do a a2a visa change?

No official cap exists, though immigration reviews each case separately and frequent repeats draw more attention. Most Iceland visitors do one or two before obtaining residency or departing.

Does this work after residency cancellation?

Yes. Send the cancellation document and we handle the change to a 60 day tourist visa for the same flat price.

What is the destination?

Muscat, Kuwait City or Doha, depending on flydubai availability on your chosen date. All are under two hours from Dubai and support a same day return.

Do Iceland passport holders need an Oman visa for this?

No visa is required because you never clear immigration in the transit country.

Can my children travel on the same package?

Yes. Children require individual tickets and visas, and we prepare a single quote for the whole family.

Is a refund possible if immigration refuses?

Rejection is uncommon. Should it happen, you would need to fly on to your home country or another destination, and the visa fee is not refundable as it is a government charge. We flag risks before booking so that this does not come as a surprise.

Is this an official process?

Yes. You leave on the current visa and return on a new one granted by UAE immigration. Using a licensed agency keeps the application within official channels.
