A a2a visa change is an exit and re entry. UAE immigration issues the new tourist visa against your Indonesia passport while you are physically outside the country, so leaving is not optional. A short flight is the quickest way to meet that condition. The usual routing from Dubai is to Muscat, Kuwait City or Doha, and most travellers are back in the arrivals hall at Terminal 2 within six to twelve hours of departure.

Is a a2a visa change the right option for you?

Since in country extension exists, a a2a visa change is the right move only when extension is no longer possible. These are the situations where Indonesia travellers should book one:

A bank statement covering six months is required for certain passports. Where Indonesia citizens are affected, the statement of a family member living in the UAE is accepted. What happens on the day

The day before you fly

We confirm your flydubai flight, share the ticket and remind you to settle any overstay fine through the GDRFA or ICP app. If your visa has not expired, there is nothing to pay at the airport. Choose a Monday to Thursday departure. Friday flights carry a risk of weekend delays, since Saturday and Sunday are non working days for government offices.

Check in and exit at Dubai Terminal 2

Plan to be at Dubai Terminal 2 five hours before the flight, check in and receive boarding passes for both sectors. Send us a picture of each boarding pass on WhatsApp straight away. Once immigration records your exit, your old visa closes and we file the new application immediately.

While you wait abroad

The flight takes around one hour. There is no need to enter the transit country; you stay airside and check in for the return sector. Approval usually arrives within hours, and you receive the visa PDF on WhatsApp. Occasionally immigration orders a security check, extending the wait to 24 to 48 hours. You can remain at the airport and we will monitor the status with you.

Back in the UAE

If we have already sent the PDF, go straight to the eGate at Terminal 2. Without the PDF in hand, use a manual immigration counter rather than the eGate and remain in the designated area. Validity runs for 60 days from your arrival.

An in country extension at AED 1,200 for 30 days is the simplest route if you are still eligible. A a2a visa change steps in when extension ends, and it gives 60 days instead of 30. The bus visa change is cheaper, beginning at AED 1,000 for cancelled residents and AED 1,400 to 1,500 for tourist visa holders, but it needs one to two days and an overnight stop. Mistakes to avoid

• Leaving it to the last minute. Seats disappear around Eid, December and January, so contact us a week or more in advance.
