When a visitor from Ukraine has run out of extension options, a a2a visa change is the practical answer: a short flight out, a new visa issued while you wait, and a return within hours. We take care of the flydubai booking, the visa submission and the timing, so Ukraine travellers spend the least possible time away from Dubai.
In short: Ukraine passport holders pay AED 1,550 for a a2a visa change, which covers the return flight from Dubai, the 60 day single entry visa and our coordination, with most travellers back in Dubai within six to twelve hours.
Looking to extend your stay in the UAE?
Let White Sky Travel help you process an airport visa change from a tourist visa, cancelled residence visa, or current visa on-arrival.
The meaning of a2a visa change for Ukraine passport holders
At its core, a a2a visa change is a short trip out of the country so that a new visa can be issued. The rule is that the applicant, in this case a Ukraine passport holder, must be abroad when the new visa is processed. Flying is the fastest way to satisfy that rule. The typical route runs from Dubai International Terminal 2 to Muscat, Kuwait or Doha, with a return the same day.
The land alternative is the visa change by bus to Oman, which takes longer and involves a night near the border. The flight route is pricier than the bus, but it saves an entire day and works better for families, seniors and people who cannot take time off.
Is a a2a visa change the right option for you?
Many UAE visit visas can be extended without leaving, which means a a2a visa change is only needed in specific cases. For Ukraine citizens, the following circumstances call for a a2a visa change:
- You have used every in country extension available. A 30 day visa can be extended three times and a 60 day visa twice, each by 30 days, up to a total stay of 120 days.
- Your residency was cancelled and you need more time in the UAE. The only route is a new tourist visa, which a a2a visa change provides.
- You missed the extension deadline. With fines already running, a a2a visa change is the fastest way to regularise your status.
- You hold a permit that is not extendable from inside the UAE. Send us a photo of your visa on WhatsApp and we will advise the correct route for a Ukraine passport.
Do not wait until the last day
Every day past expiry costs AED 50 in fines, whichever emirate issued the visa and whichever visa type you hold. No grace period applies to visit visas, so the counter starts the very next day. Anyone who overstays by more than 30 days also needs an exit permit, typically AED 250 to 300, before they can leave. A a2a visa change booked ten days before expiry costs exactly the same as one booked on the last day, so we recommend contacting us when you still have 10 to 15 days remaining.

How much does a a2a visa change cost?
The package for Ukraine passport holders is straightforward: AED 1,550 for a 60 day single entry visa and the return flight on flydubai. Tourist visa holders and cancelled residents pay an identical amount. That figure pays for the flydubai ticket, the visa itself and our coordination on travel day.
- Visa type: 60 days, single entry
- Airline: flydubai, departing and returning at Dubai Terminal 2
- Processing: visa applied while you are outside the UAE and sent to your WhatsApp as a PDF
- Help: a dedicated consultant on WhatsApp for the whole process
- Price: AED 1,550 per adult
A 30 day a2a visa change is not available through us because the processing cost is similar and the value is poorer than the 60 day visa. A surcharge of AED 100 applies to a small number of nationalities that require additional processing, and we will tell you before you pay whether a Ukraine passport is affected. Fines for overstaying are cleared by the passenger at the airport and sit outside the package price.
For a limited set of nationalities a refundable deposit is requested. It sits apart from the AED 1,550, comes back to you after your final exit, and we confirm whether it applies to Ukraine citizens before booking.
Instalment options
For UAE residents sponsoring a Ukraine family member or friend, the AED 1,550 can be split with Tabby up to 12 months, Tamara on extendable terms, or a UAE credit card over 3, 6, 9 or 12 months according to the bank. Everyone else is sent a secure payment link online.
Documents required for a Ukraine passport
Share these four items on WhatsApp and we will confirm whether we can proceed, typically within the hour:
- Your passport data page plus a photo of the back cover. We ask for both because the back cover is the item most often forgotten.
- At least six months remaining validity, two empty pages, and no torn or water damaged pages.
- One colour passport photo on a plain white background, no more than six months old.
- The existing tourist visa PDF or, for cancelled residents, the cancellation document.
A bank statement covering six months is required for certain passports. Where Ukraine citizens are affected, the statement of a family member living in the UAE is accepted. Please also carry a card or some cash on the return flight, since immigration can ask arriving visitors to show proof of funds. Please complete the guarantee form at applyvisa.app once we confirm your booking.
a2a visa change step by step for Ukraine travellers
Preparation
After verification we book flydubai, send your ticket and confirm that you have no unpaid fines on the GDRFA or ICP system. Travellers whose visa is still valid pay nothing at immigration. Book for Monday to Thursday if you can, as a Friday delay can stretch over the weekend.
Leaving the UAE
Reach Terminal 2 at Dubai International about five hours early, check in with flydubai and ask for the outbound and return boarding passes together. Send us a picture of each boarding pass on WhatsApp straight away. Once immigration records your exit, your old visa closes and we file the new application immediately.
In Muscat, Kuwait or Doha
You will be in the air for about an hour. There is no need to enter the transit country; you stay airside and check in for the return sector. Most applications clear within a few hours, and the approved visa reaches your WhatsApp as a PDF. Occasionally immigration orders a security check, extending the wait to 24 to 48 hours. You can remain at the airport and we will monitor the status with you.
Re entry
Once you have the PDF from us, you can use the eGate at Terminal 2 for a quick entry. If the visa is still processing when you land, do not use the eGate; go to a manual immigration counter and wait in the designated area until we confirm approval. Validity runs for 60 days from your arrival.
Should Ukraine travellers extend, fly or take the bus?
Where an extension is still possible, take it: the in country option costs AED 1,200 for 30 days and requires no flight. A a2a visa change steps in when extension ends, and it gives 60 days instead of 30. The bus to Oman costs less, from AED 1,000 for residence cancellation and AED 1,400 to 1,500 for visit visa holders, but it takes a day or two and includes a night away. For most Ukraine visitors the flight is the better balance of time, comfort and certainty.

What can go wrong and how to avoid it
- Waiting until the final days. Peak periods such as Eid, December and January fill flights quickly.
- A passport expiring within six months. Renew it before attempting a a2a visa change.
- Spelling differences. Ticket and passport names must be identical, middle names included.
- Overstay fines still due. Pay them in advance through the GDRFA or ICP app.
- Expecting extra days after expiry. The UAE gives visitors none, so plan around the exact date.
- Undisclosed history. Prior overstays, bans or uncancelled visas can lead to refusal, so share them with us upfront.
Answers for Ukraine citizens
What is the total time from departure to return?
Six to twelve hours is normal. Security checks occasionally push it to 24 to 48 hours, and you can wait at the airport throughout.
How many times can a Ukraine citizen do a a2a visa change?
You may repeat it, but approval is never automatic and repeated changes are scrutinised. One or two is typical.
My residency was cancelled. Can I still apply?
Yes, and it is the situation we see most often. Once you have the cancellation paper, we process a 60 day tourist visa for AED 1,550.
Which country will I transit through?
The destination is usually Muscat, though Kuwait City and Doha are also used. All three allow a same day turnaround.
Is a transit visa required?
No. You remain airside at the transit airport, so no visa for that country is needed.
Can my children travel on the same package?
Yes. Children require individual tickets and visas, and we prepare a single quote for the whole family.
What happens on rejection?
Very few applications are refused. If yours is, the return to Dubai is not possible and onward travel is required. Government visa fees cannot be refunded, so we review your history carefully first.
Is a a2a visa change legal?
Yes, completely. It follows standard immigration procedure, and a licensed agency such as ours submits the application through the proper system.
