Visa extension for Botswana citizens without leaving the UAE

If you hold a Botswana passport and your UAE visit visa is running out, a Visa extension lets you stay another 30 days without leaving the country. The fee is AED 1,200 for each 30 day extension, approval normally arrives in two to three working days, and everything is handled on WhatsApp. Read on for the rules that apply to Botswana passports: cost, number of extensions, timing, documents and the exit routes once the maximum is reached.

The essentials for Botswana citizens: AED 1,200 per 30 day extension, no exit required, two to three working days processing, a 120 day ceiling on total stay, and a five to seven day lead time before expiry. Only the issuing agency can process it.

The meaning of Visa extension for Botswana passport holders

A Visa extension without exit is an extension of your existing visit visa, not a new visa. Immigration processes the extension under the original issuer’s account and records the new expiry against your Botswana passport. There is no travel involved: you stay in the UAE, keep your accommodation and wait for the approval on WhatsApp.

This is different from an airport to airport visa change or a visa change by bus to Oman, both of which involve leaving the UAE and returning on a completely new tourist visa. For eligible Botswana travellers the extension beats the exit routes on cost, effort and time away.

Eligibility for Botswana passport holders

Eligibility for a Visa extension depends on three things: the visa you hold, how many extensions you have already used, and which agency issued the visa. Send us a copy of your current visa on WhatsApp and we will confirm within the hour whether a Botswana passport can be extended, or whether an exit route is the better option.

  • Visit and tourist visa holders on a 30 day or 60 day visa issued through a travel agency. A 30 day visa can be extended three times and a 60 day visa twice, each by 30 days.
  • Visitors who have not reached 120 days in the UAE on the current visa.
  • Holders of a visa issued by us. The UAE system routes extension requests through the issuing agency, which is why the same agency rule applies.

If your visa was issued by a different agency, you have two choices: ask that agency to extend it, or use an exit route with us. An airport to airport visa change costs AED 1,550 and a visa change by bus to Oman starts from AED 1,000, and both give you a fresh 60 day visa regardless of who issued the first one. Arrival stamps and residency visas are not extendable through an agency.

UAE visit visa extension charges for Botswana citizens

We charge AED 1,200 for every 30 day extension regardless of nationality, so Botswana citizens pay exactly this figure.

  • A single 30 day block: AED 1,200
  • 60 day extension: AED 2,400 (two 30 day extensions back to back)

The charge covers immigration and processing costs and is not refundable if the extension is refused. Any overstay fine is settled separately with immigration and is not included in the AED 1,200. Compared with the exit routes, the extension is usually the better value for a Botswana visitor who needs 30 more days, while a new 60 day visa through airport to airport or bus makes more sense when you need the full two months and have no extensions left.

Payment options

Residents of the UAE booking for Botswana visitors can use Tabby for up to 12 months, Tamara with extendable repayment, or a UAE credit card with 3, 6, 9 or 12 month terms set by the card issuer. All other applicants receive a secure online payment link. When several family members extend at once, we process them together and the total can be paid on the same plan.

Documents required for a Visa extension on a Botswana passport

The document list for an extension is short, because immigration already holds your details from the original visa. Send these on WhatsApp:

  1. Your Botswana passport data page, with six months or more validity remaining.
  2. A recent colour photograph, white background, passport dimensions, no glasses.
  3. The current visa copy, which we use to check the expiry date and remaining extensions.

Bank statements, hotel confirmations and return tickets are not part of the extension application. In rare cases immigration asks for something extra; if so, we let Botswana applicants know straight away.

How Botswana citizens apply

  1. WhatsApp your documents to +971 52 292 1011 or +971 4 220 2133 a week before expiry. We verify the dates and confirm whether a Botswana passport can be extended.
  2. Settle the AED 1,200 by secure link or instalments. The application goes to immigration after payment.
  3. We lodge the application and track it. Approval for Botswana passports usually takes two to three working days; immigration can sometimes extend this.
  4. Once approved, we send the extension PDF on WhatsApp. It shows the new expiry date and should travel with your passport.

The five to seven day rule for Botswana visitors

An extension is only possible on a live visa, which is why the expiry date is the hard deadline. We ask Botswana travellers to contact us five to seven days ahead, because processing takes two to three working days and weekends and public holidays do not count. When chaining extensions, start each one a few days early and count your total days from the original entry.

Overstay rules in 2026

There is no grace period on a UAE visit visa. An expired visa attracts AED 50 per day in fines from day one, and the rate is the same everywhere in the UAE. After 30 days of overstay, an exit permit costing about AED 250 to 300 becomes necessary as well. If your visa has already expired, extension is off the table; the practical route is to pay the fine and exit through an airport to airport change or the bus to Oman, and we can arrange either.

When extension is no longer possible

At 120 days total, Botswana passport holders must leave the UAE. From there you have four routes: an airport to airport visa change at AED 1,550 with a same day return by flydubai, a visa change by bus to Oman from AED 1,000 over about one day, returning home and applying for a fresh visa later, or converting to a residence visa if an employer or family sponsor is available. Air or bus, the result is a new 60 day visa, and we book either for Botswana travellers on WhatsApp.

Common problems for Botswana applicants and how we prevent them

  • Waiting until expiry day, which leaves no room for processing time.
  • Assuming any agency can extend. Only the issuer can, because immigration routes the request through the issuing account. Check who issued your visa before you plan.
  • Miscounting the 120 days. Total stay is counted from the original entry date, not from the last extension, so keep a running tally.
  • Less than six months on the passport, which blocks the extension.
  • Expecting an on arrival stamp to be extendable. It is not; a visa change is required instead.

Answers for Botswana citizens

Do I have to leave the UAE to extend?

Yes. Agency issued 30 day and 60 day visit visas can be extended from inside the UAE without leaving, provided you still have extensions remaining, your total stay will not exceed 120 days, and the application goes through the agency that issued the visa.

How much is a 2 month extension?

The extension fee is AED 1,200 for 30 days and AED 2,400 for 60 days (two back to back extensions), identical for all passports including Botswana.

What is the processing time?

Usually two to three working days. Because government offices close at weekends, Botswana travellers should allow five to seven days before the visa expires.

How many times can a Botswana citizen extend a UAE tourist visa?

The limit is 120 days in total: three 30 day extensions on a 30 day visa, or two on a 60 day visa.

What if my visa came from a different agency?

No. In country extensions can only be processed by the agency that issued the original visa, because immigration handles the request through the issuer’s account. If another agency issued your visa, contact them, or use an exit route with us: an airport to airport change at AED 1,550 or the bus to Oman from AED 1,000, both giving a new 60 day visa.

When do fines start?

There is no grace period. Fines of AED 50 per day begin immediately after expiry, and an exit permit costing roughly AED 250 to 300 is needed if the overstay exceeds 30 days.

What about family members on Botswana passports?

Yes. We process extensions for spouses, children and other family members together, and UAE residents booking for family can split the combined total across Tabby, Tamara or a UAE credit card plan.

What if my extension is refused?

Refusals are rare when the eligibility rules are met. If immigration declines, the fee is not refundable because the government charge is paid at submission, and you would need to exit before expiry through an airport to airport change or the bus to Oman. We check eligibility carefully before you pay to keep this risk low.
