Bulgaria passport Visa extension: fees, rules and process

When a Bulgaria citizen wants more time in the UAE, a Visa extension adds 30 days to the current visit visa from inside the country. What is a Visa extension without exit?

A Visa extension is an extension of the current permit; the visa number stays the same and the expiry date moves forward by 30 days. Immigration processes the extension under the original issuer’s account and records the new expiry against your Bulgaria passport. You do not leave the country at any point; the approval arrives on WhatsApp while you carry on with your stay.

The exit routes, airport to airport and bus to Oman, issue a brand new visa after you leave; an extension does not require leaving at all. Wherever a Bulgaria citizen is still within the extension limits, this is the option we recommend before anything else.

Is a Visa extension available for Bulgaria citizens?

Eligibility for a Visa extension depends on three things: the visa you hold, how many extensions you have already used, and which agency issued the visa. Message a photo of your visa to our WhatsApp and we confirm eligibility for Bulgaria citizens before you pay anything.

• Visitors on an agency issued 30 or 60 day visit visa who have not yet reached the extension limit.
• Travellers who will remain within the 120 day ceiling after the extension is added.
• Holders of a visa issued by us. The UAE system routes extension requests through the issuing agency, which is why the same agency rule applies.

If we did not issue your visa, the original agency can extend it, or we can reset you on a new 60 day visa through an airport to airport change (AED 1,550) or the bus to Oman (from AED 1,000). This service does not cover visa on arrival stamps or residence permits.

How much does a Visa extension cost?

A 30 day extension is AED 1,200 for all passports, Bulgaria included; there is no nationality based pricing on extensions.

This price includes the immigration fee and our handling. On rejection the fee is retained by immigration and cannot be returned. Fines for overstaying are paid directly to immigration and sit outside the extension price. Compared with the exit routes, the extension is usually the better value for a Bulgaria visitor who needs 30 more days, while a new 60 day visa through airport to airport or bus makes more sense when you need the full two months and have no extensions left.

Instalment plans for UAE residents

Do not wait until the last day

An extension is only possible on a live visa, which is why the expiry date is the hard deadline. Because approval takes two to three working days and government offices close at weekends and on public holidays, Bulgaria passport holders should message us five to seven days before expiry. When chaining extensions, start each one a few days early and count your total days from the original entry.

Overstay rules in 2026

There is no grace period on a UAE visit visa. The overstay fine is AED 50 per day, applied uniformly across every emirate and visa category, from the first day past expiry. Overstays beyond 30 days additionally require an exit permit of roughly AED 250 to 300. After expiry the only option is an exit route; we handle the airport to airport change or the Oman bus for Bulgaria passports.

Reaching the 120 day limit

Once a Bulgaria visitor has used every extension and reached 120 days, exit is mandatory. Four options follow: airport to airport at AED 1,550 and back the same day, the bus to Oman from AED 1,000 taking roughly a day, a return home before a new visa, or a residence visa through an employer or family member. Either exit route resets you on a new 60 day visa, and the same agency rule does not apply to them.

Mistakes to avoid

• Missing the deadline. Once the visa lapses, only an exit route remains.
• Approaching a different agency. The same agency rule means we can only extend visas we issued; for others, use an exit route.
• Forgetting that extensions add to the original stay rather than replacing it.
• Less than six months on the passport, which blocks the extension.
• Expecting an on arrival stamp to be extendable. It is not; a visa change is required instead.
