Visa extension for Burundi citizens without leaving the UAE

If you hold a Burundi passport and your UAE visit visa is running out, a Visa extension lets you stay another 30 days without leaving the country. At White Sky Travel a 30 day extension is AED 1,200, processed in around two to three working days, with every step on WhatsApp. Read on for the rules that apply to Burundi passports: cost, number of extensions, timing, documents and the exit routes once the maximum is reached.

Quick answer: a Visa extension for a Burundi passport costs AED 1,200 per 30 days and is processed inside the UAE in two to three working days. A 30 day visa can be extended three times and a 60 day visa twice, up to a total stay of 120 days. Apply at least five to seven days before expiry, and note that the extension must be processed by the agency that issued the original visa.

The meaning of Visa extension for Burundi passport holders

A Visa extension without exit is an extension of your existing visit visa, not a new visa. The application is submitted to immigration through the same agency account that issued your original visa, and once approved the new expiry date is recorded against your Burundi passport. Nothing physical happens on your side; you continue your visit and we send the approved extension on WhatsApp.

The exit routes, airport to airport and bus to Oman, issue a brand new visa after you leave; an extension does not require leaving at all. Wherever a Burundi citizen is still within the extension limits, this is the option we recommend before anything else.

Eligibility for Burundi passport holders

A Visa extension is available when the visa type allows it, the extension count has not been exhausted, and the application goes through the original issuer. Send us a copy of your current visa on WhatsApp and we will confirm within the hour whether a Burundi passport can be extended, or whether an exit route is the better option.

  • Tourist visa holders with extensions remaining: up to three on a 30 day visa and up to two on a 60 day visa.
  • Travellers who will remain within the 120 day ceiling after the extension is added.
  • Visitors whose visa we issued. Immigration processes extensions through the original issuer’s account, so another agency cannot extend a visa we did not issue, and we cannot extend a visa issued elsewhere.

Visas issued elsewhere can be extended by that agency; alternatively, we arrange an airport to airport change at AED 1,550 or a bus visa change from AED 1,000, each providing a new 60 day visa. This service does not cover visa on arrival stamps or residence permits.

How much does a Visa extension cost?

A 30 day extension is AED 1,200 for all passports, Burundi included; there is no nationality based pricing on extensions.

  • One month visa extension: AED 1,200 for 30 days
  • Two month visa extension: AED 2,400, processed as two consecutive 30 day extensions

This price includes the immigration fee and our handling. On rejection the fee is retained by immigration and cannot be returned. Fines for overstaying are paid directly to immigration and sit outside the extension price. If you only need a month, extend; if you need two months and have run out of extensions, a new visa by air or bus is the better route for a Burundi passport.

Instalment plans for UAE residents

For UAE residents applying on behalf of Burundi family or friends, the AED 1,200 can be spread with Tabby up to 12 months, Tamara on extendable terms, or a UAE credit card over 3, 6, 9 or 12 months according to the bank. Everyone else is sent a secure payment link online. When several family members extend at once, we process them together and the total can be paid on the same plan.

What Burundi citizens need to send us

Extensions need less paperwork than a new visa. Message us these three items on WhatsApp:

  1. A scan of the passport, valid for a minimum of six months.
  2. One colour passport photo on a plain white background.
  3. Your existing visa PDF, which tells us the entry date, expiry and extension count.

No bank statement, hotel booking or return ticket is required for the extension itself. Immigration can request further documents at its discretion, and we pass any such request on to Burundi travellers without delay.

Getting your extension in four steps

  1. Message +971 52 292 1011 or +971 4 220 2133 on WhatsApp five to seven days ahead of expiry with your documents. We review them and confirm eligibility within hours.
  2. Pay through the secure link or instalment plan we send. Submission to immigration starts only after payment is received.
  3. We lodge the application and track it. Approval for Burundi passports usually takes two to three working days; immigration can sometimes extend this.
  4. We forward the extension PDF on WhatsApp; the new expiry date is on it, so keep it handy.

The five to seven day rule for Burundi visitors

Immigration will not extend a visa that has already lapsed, so the request has to be in before the expiry date. Allow five to seven days: two to three working days for processing, plus a buffer for weekends and holidays. Back to back extensions should each be filed a few days before the running expiry, always within the 120 day cap.

What happens if you miss the deadline

Visitors do not receive any grace days after the expiry date. An expired visa attracts AED 50 per day in fines from day one, and the rate is the same everywhere in the UAE. Overstays beyond 30 days additionally require an exit permit of roughly AED 250 to 300. After expiry the only option is an exit route; we handle the airport to airport change or the Oman bus for Burundi passports.

When extension is no longer possible

When the extensions are exhausted and 120 days are up, leaving the country is required. You can fly out and back the same day for AED 1,550, take the Oman bus from AED 1,000, return to Burundi and reapply, or switch to residency if you have a sponsor. Air or bus, the result is a new 60 day visa, and we book either for Burundi travellers on WhatsApp.

How to keep your application on track

  • Applying too late. Extensions cannot be filed after expiry, so contact us five to seven days ahead.
  • Not knowing who issued the visa. Ask the person who arranged it, since the extension has to go through that agency.
  • Miscounting the 120 days. Total stay is counted from the original entry date, not from the last extension, so keep a running tally.
  • Passport validity under six months. Immigration will not extend a visa on a passport close to expiry.
  • Trying to extend a visa on arrival or a residence visa. This service covers agency issued visit visas only; other permits need a different route.

Burundi passport Visa extension FAQ

Can Burundi passport holders extend in country?

You can. Burundi passport holders on an agency issued 30 or 60 day visa extend in country as long as extensions remain, the 120 day limit is respected, and the issuing agency files the request.

How much does a Visa extension cost for Burundi citizens?

One month costs AED 1,200 and two months cost AED 2,400, issued as two 30 day extensions. The fee does not vary by nationality, so Burundi passports pay the standard rate.

When will I receive the extension?

Usually two to three working days. Because government offices close at weekends, Burundi travellers should allow five to seven days before the visa expires.

How many extensions are allowed?

The limit is 120 days in total: three 30 day extensions on a 30 day visa, or two on a 60 day visa.

Does the same agency rule apply to Burundi passports?

Only the issuing agency can extend a visa in country; that is how the immigration system works, not an agency policy. For visas issued elsewhere, ask that agency, or book an exit route with us (airport to airport AED 1,550, bus from AED 1,000) for a fresh 60 day visa.

Can I stay a few days after expiry?

None. The AED 50 daily fine starts the day after the visa expires, with an exit permit of around AED 250 to 300 added after 30 days of overstay.

What about family members on Burundi passports?

Yes. We process extensions for spouses, children and other family members together, and UAE residents booking for family can split the combined total across Tabby, Tamara or a UAE credit card plan.

What if my extension is refused?

Immigration can decline at its discretion, though it seldom does for eligible Burundi applicants. The fee is not returned on refusal, and an exit route becomes necessary before expiry.
