A Visa extension allows Ghana passport holders to add 30 days to a UAE visit visa without exiting, flying anywhere or crossing a border. The fee is AED 1,200 for each 30 day extension, approval normally arrives in two to three working days, and everything is handled on WhatsApp. Read on for the rules that apply to Ghana passports: cost, number of extensions, timing, documents and the exit routes once the maximum is reached.
In short: Ghana passport holders pay AED 1,200 for each 30 day Visa extension, approved in two to three working days without leaving the country. Three extensions on a 30 day visa, two on a 60 day visa, 120 days maximum. Apply five to seven days before expiry through the agency that issued your visa.

Visa extension explained for Ghana travellers
Unlike a visa change, a Visa extension keeps your existing visa and simply adds 30 days to it. Immigration processes the extension under the original issuer’s account and records the new expiry against your Ghana passport. Nothing physical happens on your side; you continue your visit and we send the approved extension on WhatsApp.
This is different from an airport to airport visa change or a visa change by bus to Oman, both of which involve leaving the UAE and returning on a completely new tourist visa. For Ghana visitors who still qualify, the extension is the cheapest and least disruptive option, and it is the one we recommend first.
Is a Visa extension available for Ghana citizens?
Eligibility for a Visa extension depends on three things: the visa you hold, how many extensions you have already used, and which agency issued the visa. We check the position for Ghana passports on WhatsApp and advise the right route: extension, airport to airport or bus.
- Visitors on an agency issued 30 or 60 day visit visa who have not yet reached the extension limit.
- Anyone whose combined stay stays under 120 days once the extension is counted.
- Visitors whose visa we issued. Immigration processes extensions through the original issuer’s account, so another agency cannot extend a visa we did not issue, and we cannot extend a visa issued elsewhere.
Visas issued elsewhere can be extended by that agency; alternatively, we arrange an airport to airport change at AED 1,550 or a bus visa change from AED 1,000, each providing a new 60 day visa. On arrival stamps and residence visas fall outside this service.

How much does a Visa extension cost?
We charge AED 1,200 for every 30 day extension regardless of nationality, so Ghana citizens pay exactly this figure.
- One month visa extension: AED 1,200 for 30 days
- 2 month extension: AED 2,400, issued as two separate 30 day approvals
The AED 1,200 includes the immigration fee and our service. It cannot be refunded on refusal, since the government charge is paid when the application is lodged. If a fine has accrued, it is paid to immigration in addition to the extension fee. For 30 extra days the extension is cheaper and simpler than any exit route; for a full 60 days with no extensions remaining, the airport to airport change or the bus route becomes the better buy for Ghana travellers.
Pay in monthly instalments
Residents of the UAE booking for Ghana visitors can use Tabby for up to 12 months, Tamara with extendable repayment, or a UAE credit card with 3, 6, 9 or 12 month terms set by the card issuer. Everyone else is sent a secure payment link online. When several family members extend at once, we process them together and the total can be paid on the same plan.
Documents required for a Visa extension on a Ghana passport
Since immigration already has your file from the original visa, an extension needs only a few items. WhatsApp us:
- A clear copy of your Ghana passport, valid for at least six months.
- A recent colour photograph, white background, passport dimensions, no glasses.
- The current visa copy, which we use to check the expiry date and remaining extensions.
Bank statements, hotel confirmations and return tickets are not part of the extension application. Should immigration want anything more for a Ghana passport, we will contact you on WhatsApp at once.
How to apply for a Visa extension from Ghana
- Share your documents with us on WhatsApp at +971 52 292 1011 or +971 4 220 2133 with at least five to seven days remaining, and we confirm the same day.
- Pay through the secure link or instalment plan we send. Submission to immigration starts only after payment is received.
- The extension is filed and monitored by our team. Expect two to three working days for most Ghana applicants, subject to immigration’s discretion.
- Once approved, we send the extension PDF on WhatsApp. It shows the new expiry date and should travel with your passport.
When to apply and why the deadline matters
The extension must be submitted before the current visa expires; an expired visa cannot be extended. Because approval takes two to three working days and government offices close at weekends and on public holidays, Ghana passport holders should message us five to seven days before expiry. For consecutive extensions, submit each new request a few days before the previous extension expires and track your cumulative stay against the 120 day limit.
What happens if you miss the deadline
Visitors do not receive any grace days after the expiry date. A fine of AED 50 applies for every day of overstay, the same flat rate across all visa types and emirates, and it starts the day after expiry. If the overstay passes 30 days, an exit permit of around AED 250 to 300 is required on top of the fines. If your visa has already expired, extension is off the table; the practical route is to pay the fine and exit through an airport to airport change or the bus to Oman, and we can arrange either.

When extension is no longer possible
Once a Ghana visitor has used every extension and reached 120 days, exit is mandatory. Four options follow: airport to airport at AED 1,550 and back the same day, the bus to Oman from AED 1,000 taking roughly a day, a return home before a new visa, or a residence visa through an employer or family member. The two exit routes each provide a fresh 60 day visa whoever issued the first one, and we organise both.
Mistakes to avoid
- Applying too late. Extensions cannot be filed after expiry, so contact us five to seven days ahead.
- Approaching a different agency. The same agency rule means we can only extend visas we issued; for others, use an exit route.
- Losing track of cumulative days. The 120 day cap runs from first entry, including every extension.
- A passport expiring soon. Renew it before applying.
- Applying with an arrival stamp or residency, which cannot be extended through an agency.
Answers for Ghana citizens
Do I have to leave the UAE to extend?
Yes. No exit is needed for agency issued visit visas within the extension limits and the 120 day cap, when processed by the original issuer.
How much is a 2 month extension?
AED 1,200 per 30 day extension, the same for every nationality including Ghana. A two month extension is AED 2,400, processed as two consecutive 30 day extensions.
When will I receive the extension?
Usually two to three working days. Because government offices close at weekends, Ghana travellers should allow five to seven days before the visa expires.
What is the maximum stay?
Three extensions on a 30 day visa, two on a 60 day visa, 30 days each. Total stay cannot exceed 120 days from the original entry.
Can I extend a visa issued by another agency?
The same agency rule applies to every nationality, Ghana included. If we did not issue the visa, we cannot extend it, but we can reset you on a new 60 day visa by air (AED 1,550) or bus (from AED 1,000).
When do fines start?
None. The AED 50 daily fine starts the day after the visa expires, with an exit permit of around AED 250 to 300 added after 30 days of overstay.
What about family members on Ghana passports?
Yes. Family extensions are handled as one application, and the total fee is eligible for instalments when a UAE resident books on the family’s behalf.
What if my extension is refused?
Immigration can decline at its discretion, though it seldom does for eligible Ghana applicants. The fee is not returned on refusal, and an exit route becomes necessary before expiry.
