For travellers from Malawi, the Visa extension is the simplest way to stay longer: no airport, no bus, just a 30 day extension processed while you remain in the UAE. Each 30 day extension costs AED 1,200, takes two to three working days in most cases, and is managed entirely through WhatsApp with our team. Below you will find eligibility, pricing for Malawi citizens, the extension limits, the application deadline and your options after 120 days.
Short version: AED 1,200 per 30 days, processed in country in two to three working days for Malawi passports, up to 120 days total. Apply a week before expiry via the agency that issued the original visa.
Planning your Dubai trip? Let White Sky handle it.
We book your attraction tickets, tours, hotels and flights — and you can pay later with Tabby, Tamara or UAE credit-card monthly instalments. Need a UAE tourist visa too? We do that in-house.
The meaning of Visa extension for Malawi passport holders
An in country Visa extension extends the visa you already hold rather than issuing a fresh one. The application is submitted to immigration through the same agency account that issued your original visa, and once approved the new expiry date is recorded against your Malawi passport. Nothing physical happens on your side; you continue your visit and we send the approved extension on WhatsApp.
It should not be confused with the airport to airport change or the Oman bus route, which reset you on a new visa after an exit. Wherever a Malawi citizen is still within the extension limits, this is the option we recommend before anything else.
Who qualifies
Whether you qualify comes down to your current visa, your extension history and who issued the original visa. We check the position for Malawi passports on WhatsApp and advise the right route: extension, airport to airport or bus.
- Visitors on an agency issued 30 or 60 day visit visa who have not yet reached the extension limit.
- Travellers who will remain within the 120 day ceiling after the extension is added.
- Holders of a visa issued by us. The UAE system routes extension requests through the issuing agency, which is why the same agency rule applies.
If your visa was issued by a different agency, you have two choices: ask that agency to extend it, or use an exit route with us. An airport to airport visa change costs AED 1,550 and a visa change by bus to Oman starts from AED 1,000, and both give you a fresh 60 day visa regardless of who issued the first one. On arrival stamps and residence visas fall outside this service.

How much does a Visa extension cost?
The Visa extension fee is AED 1,200 per 30 day extension, and the price is the same for every nationality, including Malawi.
- 30 day extension: AED 1,200
- Sixty days of extension: AED 2,400, applied as two 30 day steps
This price includes the immigration fee and our handling. On rejection the fee is retained by immigration and cannot be returned. Any overstay fine is settled separately with immigration and is not included in the AED 1,200. Compared with the exit routes, the extension is usually the better value for a Malawi visitor who needs 30 more days, while a new 60 day visa through airport to airport or bus makes more sense when you need the full two months and have no extensions left.
Instalment plans for UAE residents
If you live in the UAE and are sponsoring a relative or friend holding a Malawi passport, the extension fee can be paid through Tabby over up to 12 months, Tamara on extendable terms, or a UAE credit card in 3, 6, 9 or 12 monthly instalments subject to your bank. Applicants who are not UAE residents pay through a secure online link. Group applications for a family are processed as one, with the total eligible for instalments.
What Malawi citizens need to send us
The document list for an extension is short, because immigration already holds your details from the original visa. Send these on WhatsApp:
- Your Malawi passport data page, with six months or more validity remaining.
- A white background colour photo in passport format, without eyewear.
- A copy of your current UAE visit visa, so we can confirm the issue date, the expiry date and how many extensions have already been used.
Bank statements, hotel confirmations and return tickets are not part of the extension application. In rare cases immigration asks for something extra; if so, we let Malawi applicants know straight away.
The application process step by step
- Send your documents on WhatsApp to +971 52 292 1011 or +971 4 220 2133 at least five to seven days before your visa expires. We check the expiry date and extension count and confirm eligibility the same day.
- Complete payment through the link or instalment option we provide. We file the extension once payment clears.
- We lodge the application and track it. Approval for Malawi passports usually takes two to three working days; immigration can sometimes extend this.
- The approved extension arrives as a PDF on WhatsApp with the updated expiry. Store it alongside your passport.
Timing your Visa extension
The extension must be submitted before the current visa expires; an expired visa cannot be extended. We ask Malawi travellers to contact us five to seven days ahead, because processing takes two to three working days and weekends and public holidays do not count. For consecutive extensions, submit each new request a few days before the previous extension expires and track your cumulative stay against the 120 day limit.
What happens if you miss the deadline
There is no grace period on a UAE visit visa. The overstay fine is AED 50 per day, applied uniformly across every emirate and visa category, from the first day past expiry. If the overstay passes 30 days, an exit permit of around AED 250 to 300 is required on top of the fines. If your visa has already expired, extension is off the table; the practical route is to pay the fine and exit through an airport to airport change or the bus to Oman, and we can arrange either.

Reaching the 120 day limit
At 120 days total, Malawi passport holders must leave the UAE. Four options follow: airport to airport at AED 1,550 and back the same day, the bus to Oman from AED 1,000 taking roughly a day, a return home before a new visa, or a residence visa through an employer or family member. Both exit routes issue a new 60 day tourist visa regardless of which agency issued the original, and we arrange either on WhatsApp.
Why extensions get refused or delayed
- Applying too late. Extensions cannot be filed after expiry, so contact us five to seven days ahead.
- Not knowing who issued the visa. Ask the person who arranged it, since the extension has to go through that agency.
- Losing track of cumulative days. The 120 day cap runs from first entry, including every extension.
- Passport validity under six months. Immigration will not extend a visa on a passport close to expiry.
- Expecting an on arrival stamp to be extendable. It is not; a visa change is required instead.
Frequently asked questions about Visa extension for Malawi passport
Do I have to leave the UAE to extend?
Yes, without leaving the country. The conditions are an agency issued 30 or 60 day visa, extensions still available, a total stay under 120 days, and processing through the issuing agency.
How much does a Visa extension cost for Malawi citizens?
One month costs AED 1,200 and two months cost AED 2,400, issued as two 30 day extensions. The fee does not vary by nationality, so Malawi passports pay the standard rate.
What is the processing time?
Typically two to three working days, excluding weekends and public holidays. Immigration can take longer in some cases, which is why a five to seven day lead time is recommended.
How many times can a Malawi citizen extend a UAE tourist visa?
Three extensions on a 30 day visa, two on a 60 day visa, 30 days each. Total stay cannot exceed 120 days from the original entry.
What if my visa came from a different agency?
The same agency rule applies to every nationality, Malawi included. If we did not issue the visa, we cannot extend it, but we can reset you on a new 60 day visa by air (AED 1,550) or bus (from AED 1,000).
When do fines start?
No. UAE visit and tourist visas have no grace period. A fine of AED 50 per day applies from the day after expiry, and overstays beyond 30 days also require an exit permit of about AED 250 to 300.
Can I extend visas for my family together?
Yes. Family extensions are handled as one application, and the total fee is eligible for instalments when a UAE resident books on the family’s behalf.
Is the fee refundable on rejection?
Refusals are rare when the eligibility rules are met. If immigration declines, the fee is not refundable because the government charge is paid at submission, and you would need to exit before expiry through an airport to airport change or the bus to Oman. We check eligibility carefully before you pay to keep this risk low.
