If you hold a Maldives passport and your UAE visit visa is running out, a Visa extension lets you stay another 30 days without leaving the country. At White Sky Travel a 30 day extension is AED 1,200, processed in around two to three working days, with every step on WhatsApp. Read on for the rules that apply to Maldives passports: cost, number of extensions, timing, documents and the exit routes once the maximum is reached.
Quick answer: a Visa extension for a Maldives passport costs AED 1,200 per 30 days and is processed inside the UAE in two to three working days. A 30 day visa can be extended three times and a 60 day visa twice, up to a total stay of 120 days. Apply at least five to seven days before expiry, and note that the extension must be processed by the agency that issued the original visa.
Planning your Dubai trip? Let White Sky handle it.
We book your attraction tickets, tours, hotels and flights — and you can pay later with Tabby, Tamara or UAE credit-card monthly instalments. Need a UAE tourist visa too? We do that in-house.
What is a Visa extension without exit?
Unlike a visa change, a Visa extension keeps your existing visa and simply adds 30 days to it. The request goes to immigration under the account that issued the visa, and approval extends the expiry date linked to your Maldives passport. There is no travel involved: you stay in the UAE, keep your accommodation and wait for the approval on WhatsApp.
This is different from an airport to airport visa change or a visa change by bus to Oman, both of which involve leaving the UAE and returning on a completely new tourist visa. For Maldives visitors who still qualify, the extension is the cheapest and least disruptive option, and it is the one we recommend first.
Eligibility for Maldives passport holders
Three factors decide whether a Maldives passport holder can extend: the visa type, the number of extensions already taken, and the issuing agency. Message a photo of your visa to our WhatsApp and we confirm eligibility for Maldives citizens before you pay anything.
- Tourist visa holders with extensions remaining: up to three on a 30 day visa and up to two on a 60 day visa.
- Anyone whose combined stay stays under 120 days once the extension is counted.
- Visitors whose visa we issued. Immigration processes extensions through the original issuer’s account, so another agency cannot extend a visa we did not issue, and we cannot extend a visa issued elsewhere.
If your visa was issued by a different agency, you have two choices: ask that agency to extend it, or use an exit route with us. An airport to airport visa change costs AED 1,550 and a visa change by bus to Oman starts from AED 1,000, and both give you a fresh 60 day visa regardless of who issued the first one. This service does not cover visa on arrival stamps or residence permits.

How much does a Visa extension cost?
We charge AED 1,200 for every 30 day extension regardless of nationality, so Maldives citizens pay exactly this figure.
- 30 day extension: AED 1,200
- Sixty days of extension: AED 2,400, applied as two 30 day steps
The charge covers immigration and processing costs and is not refundable if the extension is refused. If a fine has accrued, it is paid to immigration in addition to the extension fee. For 30 extra days the extension is cheaper and simpler than any exit route; for a full 60 days with no extensions remaining, the airport to airport change or the bus route becomes the better buy for Maldives travellers.
Spreading the cost
Residents of the UAE booking for Maldives visitors can use Tabby for up to 12 months, Tamara with extendable repayment, or a UAE credit card with 3, 6, 9 or 12 month terms set by the card issuer. Everyone else is sent a secure payment link online. Family extensions are handled together, and the combined total can be split the same way.
What Maldives citizens need to send us
Because your record already exists with immigration, we only need the following on WhatsApp:
- Passport copy showing at least six months validity.
- A recent colour photograph, white background, passport dimensions, no glasses.
- A copy of your current UAE visit visa, so we can confirm the issue date, the expiry date and how many extensions have already been used.
Bank statements, hotel confirmations and return tickets are not part of the extension application. Immigration can request further documents at its discretion, and we pass any such request on to Maldives travellers without delay.
The application process step by step
- Share your documents with us on WhatsApp at +971 52 292 1011 or +971 4 220 2133 with at least five to seven days remaining, and we confirm the same day.
- Pay through the secure link or instalment plan we send. Submission to immigration starts only after payment is received.
- We file with immigration and follow up. Typical turnaround for Maldives citizens is two to three working days.
- You receive the approved extension as a PDF on WhatsApp showing the new expiry date. Keep it with your passport for the rest of your stay.
When to apply and why the deadline matters
Immigration will not extend a visa that has already lapsed, so the request has to be in before the expiry date. With two to three working days of processing and no weekend service, a five to seven day lead time protects Maldives visitors from missing the deadline. If you plan to extend more than once, apply for the next extension a few days before the current one ends, and keep an eye on the 120 day total.
Why the expiry date is final
There is no grace period on a UAE visit visa. Every day beyond expiry costs AED 50, whichever emirate issued the visa, starting immediately. Overstays beyond 30 days additionally require an exit permit of roughly AED 250 to 300. Once expired, the visa cannot be extended. You settle the fine and use an exit route, airport to airport or bus, which we organise for Maldives travellers.

Reaching the 120 day limit
The 120 day ceiling is absolute; after it, every Maldives visitor has to exit. From there you have four routes: an airport to airport visa change at AED 1,550 with a same day return by flydubai, a visa change by bus to Oman from AED 1,000 over about one day, returning home and applying for a fresh visa later, or converting to a residence visa if an employer or family sponsor is available. Either exit route resets you on a new 60 day visa, and the same agency rule does not apply to them.
How to keep your application on track
- Waiting until expiry day, which leaves no room for processing time.
- Not knowing who issued the visa. Ask the person who arranged it, since the extension has to go through that agency.
- Assuming the clock resets with each extension. It does not; 120 days is the total from entry.
- Short passport validity, which leads to refusal.
- Trying to extend a visa on arrival or a residence visa. This service covers agency issued visit visas only; other permits need a different route.
Questions Maldives travellers ask us
Can I extend my UAE visit visa without exiting on a Maldives passport?
Yes. No exit is needed for agency issued visit visas within the extension limits and the 120 day cap, when processed by the original issuer.
How much is a 2 month extension?
AED 1,200 per 30 day extension, the same for every nationality including Maldives. A two month extension is AED 2,400, processed as two consecutive 30 day extensions.
When will I receive the extension?
Typically two to three working days, excluding weekends and public holidays. Immigration can take longer in some cases, which is why a five to seven day lead time is recommended.
Can I extend my 30 day visa more than once?
The limit is 120 days in total: three 30 day extensions on a 30 day visa, or two on a 60 day visa.
What if my visa came from a different agency?
No. In country extensions can only be processed by the agency that issued the original visa, because immigration handles the request through the issuer’s account. If another agency issued your visa, contact them, or use an exit route with us: an airport to airport change at AED 1,550 or the bus to Oman from AED 1,000, both giving a new 60 day visa.
When do fines start?
No grace days exist. Overstaying costs AED 50 per day from day one, plus an exit permit of approximately AED 250 to 300 once the overstay passes 30 days.
Can spouse and children extend at the same time?
Certainly. We extend the whole family at once, and residents sponsoring Maldives relatives can pay the combined AED 1,200 per person on an instalment plan.
Can immigration decline an extension?
Refusals are rare when the eligibility rules are met. If immigration declines, the fee is not refundable because the government charge is paid at submission, and you would need to exit before expiry through an airport to airport change or the bus to Oman. We check eligibility carefully before you pay to keep this risk low.
