Visa extension for Malta passport

When a Malta citizen wants more time in the UAE, a Visa extension adds 30 days to the current visit visa from inside the country. The fee is AED 1,200 for each 30 day extension, approval normally arrives in two to three working days, and everything is handled on WhatsApp. Read on for the rules that apply to Malta passports: cost, number of extensions, timing, documents and the exit routes once the maximum is reached.

In short: Malta passport holders pay AED 1,200 for each 30 day Visa extension, approved in two to three working days without leaving the country. Three extensions on a 30 day visa, two on a 60 day visa, 120 days maximum. Apply five to seven days before expiry through the agency that issued your visa.

The meaning of Visa extension for Malta passport holders

An in country Visa extension extends the visa you already hold rather than issuing a fresh one. The application is submitted to immigration through the same agency account that issued your original visa, and once approved the new expiry date is recorded against your Malta passport. Nothing physical happens on your side; you continue your visit and we send the approved extension on WhatsApp.

It should not be confused with the airport to airport change or the Oman bus route, which reset you on a new visa after an exit. For eligible Malta travellers the extension beats the exit routes on cost, effort and time away.

Who from Malta can apply for a Visa extension?

A Visa extension is available when the visa type allows it, the extension count has not been exhausted, and the application goes through the original issuer. WhatsApp us your visa copy and we will tell you straight away if an extension is possible for a Malta passport or if you need a visa change instead.

  • Visit and tourist visa holders on a 30 day or 60 day visa issued through a travel agency. A 30 day visa can be extended three times and a 60 day visa twice, each by 30 days.
  • Applicants whose total stay, including the new extension, will not exceed 120 days from the original entry date.
  • Applicants whose original visa was issued by White Sky Travel. In country extensions can only be processed by the agency that issued the visa, because immigration handles the request through the issuer’s account.

If your visa was issued by a different agency, you have two choices: ask that agency to extend it, or use an exit route with us. An airport to airport visa change costs AED 1,550 and a visa change by bus to Oman starts from AED 1,000, and both give you a fresh 60 day visa regardless of who issued the first one. This service does not cover visa on arrival stamps or residence permits.

UAE visit visa extension charges for Malta citizens

Each 30 day extension costs AED 1,200, and unlike a new visa the fee does not change by nationality, so Malta passports pay the standard rate.

  • A single 30 day block: AED 1,200
  • Sixty days of extension: AED 2,400, applied as two 30 day steps

This price includes the immigration fee and our handling. On rejection the fee is retained by immigration and cannot be returned. Any overstay fine is settled separately with immigration and is not included in the AED 1,200. If you only need a month, extend; if you need two months and have run out of extensions, a new visa by air or bus is the better route for a Malta passport.

Payment options

UAE residents arranging a Visa extension for a family member or friend from Malta can split the AED 1,200 using Tabby with up to 12 months, Tamara with extendable terms, or a UAE credit card with 3, 6, 9 or 12 month plans depending on the issuing bank. Other travellers pay by a secure online payment link that we send on WhatsApp. Family extensions are handled together, and the combined total can be split the same way.

Paperwork for a Visa extension

Because your record already exists with immigration, we only need the following on WhatsApp:

  1. A scan of the passport, valid for a minimum of six months.
  2. A colour passport size photo on a white background, without glasses.
  3. The current visa copy, which we use to check the expiry date and remaining extensions.

The extension does not call for a bank statement, accommodation proof or a return ticket. Immigration may occasionally request an additional document on a case by case basis, and we will tell you immediately if that happens for a Malta passport.

Getting your extension in four steps

  1. WhatsApp your documents to +971 52 292 1011 or +971 4 220 2133 a week before expiry. We verify the dates and confirm whether a Malta passport can be extended.
  2. Make the payment through the link we send. We submit as soon as it is confirmed.
  3. We file with immigration and follow up. Typical turnaround for Malta citizens is two to three working days.
  4. Once approved, we send the extension PDF on WhatsApp. It shows the new expiry date and should travel with your passport.

Timing your Visa extension

The extension must be submitted before the current visa expires; an expired visa cannot be extended. Allow five to seven days: two to three working days for processing, plus a buffer for weekends and holidays. If you plan to extend more than once, apply for the next extension a few days before the current one ends, and keep an eye on the 120 day total.

Why the expiry date is final

There is no grace period on a UAE visit visa. Every day beyond expiry costs AED 50, whichever emirate issued the visa, starting immediately. Overstays beyond 30 days additionally require an exit permit of roughly AED 250 to 300. An expired visa means a visa change rather than an extension: pay the fine, then exit by air or bus with us and return on a new visa.

When extension is no longer possible

The 120 day ceiling is absolute; after it, every Malta visitor has to exit. From there you have four routes: an airport to airport visa change at AED 1,550 with a same day return by flydubai, a visa change by bus to Oman from AED 1,000 over about one day, returning home and applying for a fresh visa later, or converting to a residence visa if an employer or family sponsor is available. Either exit route resets you on a new 60 day visa, and the same agency rule does not apply to them.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Applying too late. Extensions cannot be filed after expiry, so contact us five to seven days ahead.
  • Assuming any agency can extend. Only the issuer can, because immigration routes the request through the issuing account. Check who issued your visa before you plan.
  • Miscounting the 120 days. Total stay is counted from the original entry date, not from the last extension, so keep a running tally.
  • Passport validity under six months. Immigration will not extend a visa on a passport close to expiry.
  • Expecting an on arrival stamp to be extendable. It is not; a visa change is required instead.

Malta passport Visa extension FAQ

Do I have to leave the UAE to extend?

Yes. No exit is needed for agency issued visit visas within the extension limits and the 120 day cap, when processed by the original issuer.

How much does a Visa extension cost for Malta citizens?

One month costs AED 1,200 and two months cost AED 2,400, issued as two 30 day extensions. The fee does not vary by nationality, so Malta passports pay the standard rate.

How many days until approval?

Typically two to three working days, excluding weekends and public holidays. Immigration can take longer in some cases, which is why a five to seven day lead time is recommended.

What is the maximum stay?

A 30 day visa can be extended three times and a 60 day visa twice, each by 30 days. The maximum continuous stay on any UAE tourist visa is 120 days, after which exit is mandatory.

Does the same agency rule apply to Malta passports?

Extensions go through the issuer’s account, so a visa from another agency must be extended by them. Alternatively, we arrange an airport to airport change or the Oman bus, neither of which depends on who issued the first visa.

How many days can I stay after the visa ends?

No. UAE visit and tourist visas have no grace period. A fine of AED 50 per day applies from the day after expiry, and overstays beyond 30 days also require an exit permit of about AED 250 to 300.

Is there a family extension option?

Yes. We process extensions for spouses, children and other family members together, and UAE residents booking for family can split the combined total across Tabby, Tamara or a UAE credit card plan.

What if my extension is refused?

Rejection is uncommon for eligible applications. Fees are not refunded on refusal, since immigration retains the charge, and the fallback is an exit route before the visa expires. Our pre check is designed to catch problems early.
