If you hold a Sri Lanka passport and your UAE visit visa is running out, a Visa extension lets you stay another 30 days without leaving the country. The fee is AED 1,200 for each 30 day extension, approval normally arrives in two to three working days, and everything is handled on WhatsApp. Here is everything a Sri Lanka traveller needs to know before applying: fees, limits, deadlines, paperwork and the alternatives when extension is no longer possible.
The essentials for Sri Lanka citizens: AED 1,200 per 30 day extension, no exit required, two to three working days processing, a 120 day ceiling on total stay, and a five to seven day lead time before expiry. Only the issuing agency can process it.
Planning your Dubai trip? Let White Sky handle it.
We book your attraction tickets, tours, hotels and flights — and you can pay later with Tabby, Tamara or UAE credit-card monthly instalments. Need a UAE tourist visa too? We do that in-house.
What is a Visa extension without exit?
A Visa extension without exit is an extension of your existing visit visa, not a new visa. Immigration processes the extension under the original issuer’s account and records the new expiry against your Sri Lanka passport. There is no travel involved: you stay in the UAE, keep your accommodation and wait for the approval on WhatsApp.
The exit routes, airport to airport and bus to Oman, issue a brand new visa after you leave; an extension does not require leaving at all. For eligible Sri Lanka travellers the extension beats the exit routes on cost, effort and time away.
Is a Visa extension available for Sri Lanka citizens?
Three factors decide whether a Sri Lanka passport holder can extend: the visa type, the number of extensions already taken, and the issuing agency. WhatsApp us your visa copy and we will tell you straight away if an extension is possible for a Sri Lanka passport or if you need a visa change instead.
- Anyone on a 30 day or 60 day tourist visa issued by an agency: three extensions for the 30 day visa, two for the 60 day visa, 30 days each time.
- Visitors who have not reached 120 days in the UAE on the current visa.
- Visitors whose visa we issued. Immigration processes extensions through the original issuer’s account, so another agency cannot extend a visa we did not issue, and we cannot extend a visa issued elsewhere.
If we did not issue your visa, the original agency can extend it, or we can reset you on a new 60 day visa through an airport to airport change (AED 1,550) or the bus to Oman (from AED 1,000). On arrival stamps and residence visas fall outside this service.

How much does a Visa extension cost?
We charge AED 1,200 for every 30 day extension regardless of nationality, so Sri Lanka citizens pay exactly this figure.
- 1 month extension inside the UAE: AED 1,200
- Sixty days of extension: AED 2,400, applied as two 30 day steps
The fee covers the government charge and our processing, and it is not refundable if immigration declines the extension, because the government fee is paid at submission. Any overstay fine is settled separately with immigration and is not included in the AED 1,200. Compared with the exit routes, the extension is usually the better value for a Sri Lanka visitor who needs 30 more days, while a new 60 day visa through airport to airport or bus makes more sense when you need the full two months and have no extensions left.
Spreading the cost
Residents of the UAE booking for Sri Lanka visitors can use Tabby for up to 12 months, Tamara with extendable repayment, or a UAE credit card with 3, 6, 9 or 12 month terms set by the card issuer. Applicants who are not UAE residents pay through a secure online link. We extend spouses and children together and apply one instalment plan to the combined fee.
Visa extension requirements for Sri Lanka passport holders
Since immigration already has your file from the original visa, an extension needs only a few items. WhatsApp us:
- A clear copy of your Sri Lanka passport, valid for at least six months.
- A colour passport size photo on a white background, without glasses.
- Your existing visa PDF, which tells us the entry date, expiry and extension count.
You will not be asked for financial documents, a hotel booking or a ticket to extend. Immigration may occasionally request an additional document on a case by case basis, and we will tell you immediately if that happens for a Sri Lanka passport.
How Sri Lanka citizens apply
- Message +971 52 292 1011 or +971 4 220 2133 on WhatsApp five to seven days ahead of expiry with your documents. We review them and confirm eligibility within hours.
- Complete payment through the link or instalment option we provide. We file the extension once payment clears.
- We file with immigration and follow up. Typical turnaround for Sri Lanka citizens is two to three working days.
- The approved extension arrives as a PDF on WhatsApp with the updated expiry. Store it alongside your passport.
When to apply and why the deadline matters
An extension is only possible on a live visa, which is why the expiry date is the hard deadline. Because approval takes two to three working days and government offices close at weekends and on public holidays, Sri Lanka passport holders should message us five to seven days before expiry. If you plan to extend more than once, apply for the next extension a few days before the current one ends, and keep an eye on the 120 day total.
Why the expiry date is final
There is no grace period on a UAE visit visa. An expired visa attracts AED 50 per day in fines from day one, and the rate is the same everywhere in the UAE. If the overstay passes 30 days, an exit permit of around AED 250 to 300 is required on top of the fines. After expiry the only option is an exit route; we handle the airport to airport change or the Oman bus for Sri Lanka passports.

When extension is no longer possible
The 120 day ceiling is absolute; after it, every Sri Lanka visitor has to exit. Four options follow: airport to airport at AED 1,550 and back the same day, the bus to Oman from AED 1,000 taking roughly a day, a return home before a new visa, or a residence visa through an employer or family member. The two exit routes each provide a fresh 60 day visa whoever issued the first one, and we organise both.
Common problems for Sri Lanka applicants and how we prevent them
- Waiting until expiry day, which leaves no room for processing time.
- Assuming any agency can extend. Only the issuer can, because immigration routes the request through the issuing account. Check who issued your visa before you plan.
- Forgetting that extensions add to the original stay rather than replacing it.
- A passport expiring soon. Renew it before applying.
- Applying with an arrival stamp or residency, which cannot be extended through an agency.
Answers for Sri Lanka citizens
Do I have to leave the UAE to extend?
You can. Sri Lanka passport holders on an agency issued 30 or 60 day visa extend in country as long as extensions remain, the 120 day limit is respected, and the issuing agency files the request.
What are the UAE visit visa extension fees?
The extension fee is AED 1,200 for 30 days and AED 2,400 for 60 days (two back to back extensions), identical for all passports including Sri Lanka.
What is the processing time?
Usually two to three working days. Because government offices close at weekends, Sri Lanka travellers should allow five to seven days before the visa expires.
How many times can a Sri Lanka citizen extend a UAE tourist visa?
Up to three times for a 30 day visa and twice for a 60 day visa, always within a 120 day ceiling.
Does the same agency rule apply to Sri Lanka passports?
Only the issuing agency can extend a visa in country; that is how the immigration system works, not an agency policy. For visas issued elsewhere, ask that agency, or book an exit route with us (airport to airport AED 1,550, bus from AED 1,000) for a fresh 60 day visa.
Is there a grace period after my visa expires?
None. The AED 50 daily fine starts the day after the visa expires, with an exit permit of around AED 250 to 300 added after 30 days of overstay.
Can I extend visas for my family together?
Yes. Each family member pays AED 1,200 per extension, we file them together, and the total can be spread over instalments for UAE resident sponsors.
What if my extension is refused?
Refusals are rare when the eligibility rules are met. If immigration declines, the fee is not refundable because the government charge is paid at submission, and you would need to exit before expiry through an airport to airport change or the bus to Oman. We check eligibility carefully before you pay to keep this risk low.
