Sweden passport Visa extension: fees, rules and process

A Visa extension allows Sweden passport holders to add 30 days to a UAE visit visa without exiting, flying anywhere or crossing a border. We process the extension for AED 1,200 per 30 day block, usually within two to three working days, and the whole application runs on WhatsApp. Here is everything a Sweden traveller needs to know before applying: fees, limits, deadlines, paperwork and the alternatives when extension is no longer possible.

Quick answer: a Visa extension for a Sweden passport costs AED 1,200 per 30 days and is processed inside the UAE in two to three working days. A 30 day visa can be extended three times and a 60 day visa twice, up to a total stay of 120 days. Apply at least five to seven days before expiry, and note that the extension must be processed by the agency that issued the original visa.

How an in country UAE visa extension works

A Visa extension is an extension of the current permit; the visa number stays the same and the expiry date moves forward by 30 days. We file the extension through the issuing account, and immigration updates the expiry date on your Sweden passport record. There is no travel involved: you stay in the UAE, keep your accommodation and wait for the approval on WhatsApp.

The exit routes, airport to airport and bus to Oman, issue a brand new visa after you leave; an extension does not require leaving at all. For Sweden visitors who still qualify, the extension is the cheapest and least disruptive option, and it is the one we recommend first.

Who qualifies

Eligibility for a Visa extension depends on three things: the visa you hold, how many extensions you have already used, and which agency issued the visa. Message a photo of your visa to our WhatsApp and we confirm eligibility for Sweden citizens before you pay anything.

  • Visit and tourist visa holders on a 30 day or 60 day visa issued through a travel agency. A 30 day visa can be extended three times and a 60 day visa twice, each by 30 days.
  • Applicants whose total stay, including the new extension, will not exceed 120 days from the original entry date.
  • Holders of a visa issued by us. The UAE system routes extension requests through the issuing agency, which is why the same agency rule applies.

Where another agency issued the visa, either contact them for the extension or book an exit route with us: airport to airport at AED 1,550 or the Oman bus from AED 1,000, both of which issue a new 60 day visa whatever the original source. Arrival stamps and residency visas are not extendable through an agency.

How much does a Visa extension cost?

Each 30 day extension costs AED 1,200, and unlike a new visa the fee does not change by nationality, so Sweden passports pay the standard rate.

  • One month visa extension: AED 1,200 for 30 days
  • 60 day extension: AED 2,400 (two 30 day extensions back to back)

The charge covers immigration and processing costs and is not refundable if the extension is refused. Fines for overstaying are paid directly to immigration and sit outside the extension price. If you only need a month, extend; if you need two months and have run out of extensions, a new visa by air or bus is the better route for a Sweden passport.

Instalment plans for UAE residents

If you live in the UAE and are sponsoring a relative or friend holding a Sweden passport, the extension fee can be paid through Tabby over up to 12 months, Tamara on extendable terms, or a UAE credit card in 3, 6, 9 or 12 monthly instalments subject to your bank. Other travellers pay by a secure online payment link that we send on WhatsApp. When several family members extend at once, we process them together and the total can be paid on the same plan.

Visa extension requirements for Sweden passport holders

Extensions need less paperwork than a new visa. Message us these three items on WhatsApp:

  1. A scan of the passport, valid for a minimum of six months.
  2. One colour passport photo on a plain white background.
  3. Your present visa, needed to confirm eligibility and the dates.

You will not be asked for financial documents, a hotel booking or a ticket to extend. In rare cases immigration asks for something extra; if so, we let Sweden applicants know straight away.

Getting your extension in four steps

  1. Share your documents with us on WhatsApp at +971 52 292 1011 or +971 4 220 2133 with at least five to seven days remaining, and we confirm the same day.
  2. Make the payment through the link we send. We submit as soon as it is confirmed.
  3. We file with immigration and follow up. Typical turnaround for Sweden citizens is two to three working days.
  4. We forward the extension PDF on WhatsApp; the new expiry date is on it, so keep it handy.

Do not wait until the last day

The extension must be submitted before the current visa expires; an expired visa cannot be extended. We ask Sweden travellers to contact us five to seven days ahead, because processing takes two to three working days and weekends and public holidays do not count. If you plan to extend more than once, apply for the next extension a few days before the current one ends, and keep an eye on the 120 day total.

Overstay rules in 2026

UAE visit and tourist visas have no grace period after expiry. The overstay fine is AED 50 per day, applied uniformly across every emirate and visa category, from the first day past expiry. Anyone who overstays by more than 30 days also needs an exit permit, typically AED 250 to 300, before leaving. An expired visa means a visa change rather than an extension: pay the fine, then exit by air or bus with us and return on a new visa.

What to do after the maximum extensions

The 120 day ceiling is absolute; after it, every Sweden visitor has to exit. From there you have four routes: an airport to airport visa change at AED 1,550 with a same day return by flydubai, a visa change by bus to Oman from AED 1,000 over about one day, returning home and applying for a fresh visa later, or converting to a residence visa if an employer or family sponsor is available. The two exit routes each provide a fresh 60 day visa whoever issued the first one, and we organise both.

Why extensions get refused or delayed

  • Applying too late. Extensions cannot be filed after expiry, so contact us five to seven days ahead.
  • Not knowing who issued the visa. Ask the person who arranged it, since the extension has to go through that agency.
  • Miscounting the 120 days. Total stay is counted from the original entry date, not from the last extension, so keep a running tally.
  • A passport expiring soon. Renew it before applying.
  • Applying with an arrival stamp or residency, which cannot be extended through an agency.

Answers for Sweden citizens

Can I extend my UAE visit visa without exiting on a Sweden passport?

Yes, without leaving the country. The conditions are an agency issued 30 or 60 day visa, extensions still available, a total stay under 120 days, and processing through the issuing agency.

How much does a Visa extension cost for Sweden citizens?

The extension fee is AED 1,200 for 30 days and AED 2,400 for 60 days (two back to back extensions), identical for all passports including Sweden.

How long does a Visa extension take?

Expect two to three working days for a Sweden passport, with a buffer for weekends and holidays.

How many times can a Sweden citizen extend a UAE tourist visa?

A 30 day visa can be extended three times and a 60 day visa twice, each by 30 days. The maximum continuous stay on any UAE tourist visa is 120 days, after which exit is mandatory.

Who can process my extension?

Extensions go through the issuer’s account, so a visa from another agency must be extended by them. Alternatively, we arrange an airport to airport change or the Oman bus, neither of which depends on who issued the first visa.

Is there a grace period after my visa expires?

No. UAE visit and tourist visas have no grace period. A fine of AED 50 per day applies from the day after expiry, and overstays beyond 30 days also require an exit permit of about AED 250 to 300.

What about family members on Sweden passports?

Yes. Family extensions are handled as one application, and the total fee is eligible for instalments when a UAE resident books on the family’s behalf.

What happens if it is not approved?

Rejection is uncommon for eligible applications. Fees are not refunded on refusal, since immigration retains the charge, and the fallback is an exit route before the visa expires. Our pre check is designed to catch problems early.
