Thirty days is the minimum tourist visa length, and nothing shorter exists in this category. Should immigration refuse the application, the fee is not returned, as it covers government processing.

A note on deposits

Certain nationalities may need to place a refundable security deposit. This is independent of the visa cost, refunded once you depart the UAE, and we tell Japan applicants in advance whether one applies.

Pay in monthly instalments

UAE residents applying for a family member or friend from Japan can split the visa fee using Tabby with up to 12 months, Tamara with extendable terms, or a UAE credit card with 3, 6, 9 or 12 month plans depending on the issuing bank. Paperwork for a Dubai visa

1. Front page and back cover of the passport, six months validity minimum. Applications are most frequently sent back because the back cover was left out.
2. One colour passport photo on a plain white background.
3. A return or two way flight ticket; if you do not have one, we can arrange the flights.

Bank statement requirements depend on nationality. Should Japan be one of the passports that needs one, a relative in the UAE can submit their own statement for you. Applying through a family member or friend in the UAE

When a UAE resident applies on behalf of a Japan visitor, we also need the sponsor’s passport copy valid for six months, residence visa page valid for six months, Emirates ID front and back, and the guarantee form completed at applyvisa.app. If a statement is requested, a UAE family member may supply it on the applicant’s behalf, but a friend’s statement is not accepted.

Validity, entry and stay rules for Japan visitors

The visa must be used to enter the UAE within 60 days of the date of issue. The 30 or 60 day stay is measured from entry, not from issuance. A single entry visa allows one arrival; a multiple entry visa lets you leave and re enter as often as you like within the validity, which suits travellers combining the UAE with Oman, Saudi Arabia or Qatar. A tourist visa does not permit employment in the UAE.

What happens if you overstay

There is no grace period on a UAE tourist visa. The overstay fine is AED 50 per day, applied uniformly across every emirate and visa category, from the first day past expiry. After 30 days of overstay, an exit permit costing about AED 250 to 300 becomes necessary as well. We remind Japan travellers on WhatsApp before the expiry date, giving you time to act.

Visa extension without leaving the UAE

A 30 day visa can be extended three times for 30 days each, and a 60 day visa twice for 30 days each, with no exit required. The maximum total stay is 120 days. At the 120 day point, a new visa requires an exit, which can be done by an airport to airport change or the bus to Oman. You must apply before the visa runs out; we recommend contacting us with at least seven days to spare.

Common reasons a Dubai visa is delayed or refused

• Missing passport back cover. Include it with your first message to avoid resubmission.
• Short passport validity, which leads to refusal.
• Blurred or cropped photos. Use a clear, full colour scan with all four corners visible.
• Past visa problems in the UAE. We assess these before submission so that you are not surprised by a refusal.
• Single name passports. If your Japan passport shows only one name and no supporting document shows a full name, the visa cannot be processed, so contact us before paying.
